My name is Dave, I am an avid summer and winter enthusiast. I can help direct you to the best spots to have fun.
The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 1997
I chose this property because it is not too far from town, it has a creek and pond, killer view, and the only sound you hear is the wind in the trees and the water rushing by.
Watch the sun come up over the mountain in the mornings. Lay on the deck at night and star gaze at the millions of stars in the sky.
Enjoy laying in the hammock next to the pond and creek. Swimming in the pond will refresh you, as the water comes straight from mountain snowpack.
The spring flowers are spectacular along the mountain stream and around the pond.
We chose this rental for our Honeymoon right after the wedding. It was perfect. A private outdoor setting in mountain country. The owner was attentive to our needs and the house was clean and warm. The kitchen has everything you'll need to cook almost anything. We will definitely tell our friends and book trips here in the future!
We had a blast. The property is ideally located with stunning views of Mont Shasta.Hammond reservoir is only a 10 minutes walk. The property is really quiet and the cabin is very well equipped.Very comfortable beds .The upstairs suite is absolutely stunning.Dave the owner was very friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend this place! Edith, Rubie and David.
Spacious cabin in the woods, with a spectacular view of Mt Shasta from the patio and deck, many trails and lakes within 30-45 min from the house. Thanks Dave!
While the actual house is lovely, I did not have a pleasant stay at this property. First, it is accessed only after an approximately 2 mile drive over unpaved dirt and gravel roads which ended up damaging the paint and finish of my vehicle. This is not indicated in the listing and should be referenced.
Second, the property is located on a larger compound which appears to be occupied by the owner. The owner appears to be growing a significant volume of marijuana on the compound. The smell of marijuana wafted inside the property and was unavoidable on the grounds outside. When I visited the nearby creek that the owner lists as an amenity, I was confronted with multiple plants growing out in the open. I'm glad none of my younger relatives joined me as I would not have been comfortable with them wandering around the property unattended.
On the positive side, the surrounding area is beautiful. Mt Shasta and its environs should be sought out by more visitors.
My husband, seven year old son, and I, along with our one year old puppy, just spent four days and nights at this wonderful rental. (My husband was doing the Castle Crags Century Ride and my son and I tagged along.)
The views from the yard and balcony are amazing, you could not ask for a better view of Mt. Shasta than you have from this property. We had a great time exploring the property, including the small pond just down the hill from the house, and we loved seeing all the wildlife at the nearby lake. I've already had three friends ask for the property details after seeing the photos I posted to facebook while staying there.
The house was clean and well appointed. There is a queen bed in a small room downstairs and a king bed upstairs in the large master suite/loft -- my son said the upstairs bed was the most comfortable he'd ever been on. The downstairs shower/bathroom was perfect and the kitchen appliances all worked wonderfully.
The house is remote enough that you feel secluded and can enjoy the peace and quiet of the forest, but is still easy to reach and within just a few miles/minutes of grocery stores and restaurants. We spent some of our time in Weed/Mt. Shasta exploring Pluto's Cave, Castle Crags, Mt. Shasta City Park, and Lake Siskiyou and feel we barely scratched the surface of activities available to do. We can't wait to get back to the area and would gladly stay here again.
