A stone's throw from the walls of Lucca is an old barn / stable completely renovated respecting the original context, with terracotta floor and beams and rafters in the ceiling. It consists of a living area on the ground floor with kitchen, first floor bathroom and a bedroom on the second room on the roof. You can walk or bike the Walls of Lucca or the station for transfers to nearby Pisa, Florence and the Garfagnana. Within easy walking distance, grocery store, restaurants and pizzerias as well as bicycle hire.
The property has private parking and a garden with barbecue where you can also dine. Casa Sofia is suited to those seeking a holiday to discover the beauty of Tuscany, both those seeking peace and relaxation, the house being placed on the end of the typical 'Corte Lucchese'.
The owners were very very helpful with detailed directions to the property. They knew we would be arriving late, so they left a basket of food to prepare a light dinner and breakfast foods. That was a very welcome and helpful gesture. The home was very nice and everything worked well. There was even a washing machine which came in very handy. There were also bikes that we could use to visit the city. We loved staying here!!!
We stayed at Casa Sofia for 5 nights early August. It was an absolutely beautiful spot and we felt right at home immediately. Would have stayed longer but Casa Sofia was booked.
The kitchen was the best equipped kitchen we have had while travelling Europe the past 4 months. Definitely had a woman's touch (no offense Paolo). We enjoyed having a gas stove and making some dinners and eating under the screened in gazebo.
Everything was so clean and Carmen had added many extras (like bug coils and candles etc). It was just so homey. And the neighbours were lovely, too.
The train is quite close but, I am very sensitive to noise and it didn't bother me at all.
Easy walk into town (20 min) but there are also bikes available. We had our own bikes - probably 7 minute bike ride to town.
We had a problem with the internet working properly but Carmen and her family worked diligently to get it fixed.
Lovely people, lovely spot. Lucca is one of the highlights of our time away. We loved the town and having such beautiful accommodations to return to at night made it extra special.
Thank you Carmen and Paolo.
