Parts of this building pre-date the civil war. After purchasing the building in 2004, we spent several years renovating the building to meet historic standards. We opened a wine and gift store with a wine patio on the first level. The second level consists of 2 seperate 2 story apartments, both of which we rent for short term rental.
Cathy Weldon purchased this apartment in 2004
We love the city, especially Soulard, but live in the county. The apartment is a wonderful city getaway for us. There are great restaurants as well as music everynight of the week, from an Irish session to jazz and blues....all within walking distance.
We can walk to a Cardinals game, bike to Illinois on the the Great River Road bike trail, shop at the oldest farmers market this side of the Mississippi, dine at top notch restaurants and listen to some of the best blues & jazz anywhere in the midwest. All in one neighborhood. We have stocked the apartment with information on some of our favorite restaurants, bars, and shops.
My two adult sons and I stayed at this rental a few weeks ago while visiting my 3rd son. We were thrilled with the apartment and had lots of room to spread out. We loved how beautifully it was decorated and furnished. Cathy was very friendly, supplying us with coffee, creamer and instant oatmeal. Check out her lovely shop downstairs. There are several great restaurants nearby. We loved Mission Taco. While you're there, be sure to go to this fun place: Pieces, www.stlpieces.com, just a block away in the Soulard Loft Apartments building to play some of their 500+ board games, have a meal and/or a drink.
Loved it!!!! We are already booking for next year! Cathy was amazing, the space is convenient and clean. Lots of room to spread out and feel at home!
Cathy was incredibly nice and very attentive. The location is beautiful and the unit is very comfortable and feels warm and inviting. Everything was as described and would definitely stay there again. A nice addition to a great vacation. Thank you!
The apartment is located in a great area with restaurants and bars nearby. The three of us had plenty of space to sleep and relax. We enjoyed some drinks out on the balcony and the large kitchen was great to prepare food! Over all a wonderful stay!
We recently had the Joy of staying in this unit for the Labor Day Holiday and found everything to be above our expectations ! Cathy and her husband were both very helpful. Loved the whole Soulard Area ! We enjoyed all of the choices Soulard had to offer from the Farmers Market, Sweet Divine Cupcakes and many Bars/Restaurants. We were able to walk to most of the places we wanted to visit from here and took a very short shuttle to the ballpark to enjoy the Cubs vs Cardinals game. The place is beautiful and pictures don't do it justice ! Our group of four all agreed we will be back again and look forward to it !
The Soulard neighborhood was very nice and interesting, and we were able to bicycle quickly and easily to downtown attractions. The apartment was very comfortable and roomy, and the second bathroom was always an appreciated plus. Several excellent restaurants were within a couple of blocks, and stores for groceries and essentials were in easy walking/biking distance. Llewellyn's restaurant was very good, just a block away, and kitty-corner was a very good, very popular BBQ lunch spot. A good farmers market was less than a block, with a large variety of reasonably priced fresh fruit and vegetables. The apartment owner and her employees were very handy and helpful, made possible since they were just downstairs in the store.
The Historic Soulard Farmers Market is located across the street from this property. Park your car, you won't need it! Bars and restaurants on every corner. Bogart's Smokehouse, named Best New BBQ in 'Food & Wine Magazine' is across the street, just outside your window. Rich in history, architecture and entertainment, the Soulard neighborhood is often compared to New Orleans. Close proximity to Nestle-Purina, ATT, Wachovia, Anheuser Busch, Scottrade Center, Edward Jones Dome and Downtown St. Louis.
