About Rob

We are very busy restaurant people and are rarely in the house, except for 1 or 2 days during the week, during the day. We leave in the morning and return later around 10 pm or so., come see us though at www.roostcafeandbistro.com

Rob purchased this bungalow in 2004

Why Rob chose Southern Coast of Maine

This is a seaside bungalow/cottage that has been winterized so that we can live in it year round. We move to the space downstairs in July and August so that we can rent the upstairs. It is a 1930's bungalow with many of the original features, but with many of the modern conveniences...but no jacuzzi, nor marble... LOL

What makes this bungalow unique

We are set back from the main drag that gives us quiet, but yet quick walking access to the town shops and restaurants, within minutes. And, the beach is only about a 5-7 minute walk (without kids in tow... LOL) Although the usage of the back yard is for the owners who live in the unit below,we do welcome a tour and smell of all the flowers there the view of the gardens is wonderful. Please feel free to meander and enjoy the beautiful gardens regardless of us being there or not.

Truly - a home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to Ogunquit for over ten years, and so far, we found this to be the best place to stay. The house is charming, comfortable, beautifully equipped, and Rob and Aldo were the quintessential hosts! We were made welcome, even when we unexpectedly showed up a bit early, and our hosts were readily available and helpful when we had questions about the electronics in the house. There is so much care put into the surroundings - the decor is colorful, playful, and immaculate. It was a real delight to sit on the grapevine -shrouded back porch and savor the exquisite beauty of the well-tended garden below. Observing the colors and mindful composition of the garden brought us a great deal of pleasure!

Even on a rainy day, the house was cheerful, and the hosts had provided a wide array of reading material, games, tv choices, radio, CD and DVD players for our enjoyment. The location was perfect - far enough away from the busy road to feel a sense of privacy, but close enough to the water, a five or ten minute walk to the beach. It was also close enough to the center of town to walk to the store to get some bread for supper. There was even a washer and dryer!

Rob and Aldo live well, and they thought of everything that a guest could possibly need for comfort. (Beach chairs and towels!) Wonderful energy is in this place - highly recommended. Can't wait to go back next year!

Fantastic location!!

  • 5 of 5

this bungalow is in the perfect location! You are only 2 minutes from the center of town! Aside from the location, this bungalow has 3 bedrooms, a kitchen with everything you need to make a meal, a dining room and a very comfortable living room. That's not even the best part, this house has 2 decks!! One in the front with a grill and a table and chairs. The second deck is at the back of the house. This is my favorite spot! In the morning you can have your coffee on the deck while you watch the hummingbirds buzz around the beautiful garden. Every year the garden more and more amazing.

This house is kept meticulously clean, they have a washer and dryer and a mud room before you enter the house where you can keep all your beach stuff. They supply chairs and towels for the beach. They have thought of everything.

This is an amazing property and I can't wait to go again this summer. This will be our fifth year!

A fantatic spot!

  • 5 of 5

We've rented this house for a few years now and can't wait to get back! Initially the description of "quaint" concerned me as that usually means tiny and/or somewhat dated, but we were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

The house isn't big by any means, but the interior is very comfortable for a family of 6. The bedrooms are more than adequate, the kitchen is well-equipped with important things like sharp knives and serving dishes (with past rentals I've had to bring my own because it was impossible to cook/serve dinner with what was supplied)

The real star of the house is the back deck. We spend every day of our vacation at the beach and can't wait to come home and enjoy cocktails and dinner on that deck. The grounds are just spectacular and the deck has a small pergola covered in grapevines and climbing flowers. It's hard to believe you're just steps from Main Street when you're back there.

The location can't be beat. I know many rental listings promise "close to town" or "walking distance to everything" but this spot delivers. We load up the essentials on a buggy and head off to arrive at the beach within minutes. No traffic hassles, no $25 parking fees.

The owners live downstairs, but (unfortunately) aren't around much. Great people who really want to be sure you enjoy your stay. Rob leaves his cell phone number and encourages you to call if you need anything or have any questions and always stops to say hi if he sees us on the deck as he's coming in.

We're so pleased we stumbled across this listing and count the days until we can return.
