About the property

3 Br (4 sleeping areas) 2 Ba Sleeps up to 8-9

Beautiful chalet-style vacation home with spectacular views, fireplace and hot tub in a community with two outdoor pools and one indoor pool; it is located in the Wallenpaupack Lake area in beautiful Lake Ariel, PA which is about 2 hours from New York City. Unlike other lake fronts which place you up hills and long walking distances to the lake, we are Right On a will wake up and look out your windows to beautiful close-up views of the fountain in the pond. The door is literally steps to the pond and not down steep hills either! We accept Book It Now options through the Homeaway site.

Renter Requirements: Renters must be 30 years of age or older and we will require photocopies of drivers licenses to ensure compliance with this rule. Families with children are the only exceptions to this rule. There is NO smoking in the house. NO CATS are allowed, EVER.

House: We also have a massive movie library with lots of kids movies that we update frequently (perfect for a night with a roaring fire). We have Roku in every room with access to Netflix, Hulu+, HBO, Showtime, and many other channels. We also have an XBOX 360 upstairs in the loft and a retro video game system downstairs with many titles from Nintendo, Genesis, Super Nintendo, Arcade, etc...

Community: For summer renters, there are two outdoor pools....There is a nice lodge at the nearby pool which offers games for kids & teens. There are tennis courts at this pool area which must be reserved in advance at the main office. There is also an indoor pool which is about 5 minutes drive and there is schedule of times that it is open. All community amenities require badges which we will provide to renters.Fishing: there is ample opportunity to do so and the fishing is great in all three lakes (Lake Wallenpaupack is the BIG lake, and the two smaller lakes in our community are called Deer Lake & Beaver Lake, which are both NON-power-boating lakes). If you wish to fish, you MUST get fishing licenses to do so (adults). It is a simple process and it is very inexpensive, but it could cost a lot of money if you fail to have one and get caught fishing without it! Please contact owner for website where you can purchase your fishing license.

Children may only fish with a licensed adult present

About Shawn Abbott

Hi - This is our first property and we're so excited to share it with some great people! The previous owners just renovated the house, putting in a new kitchen and updating the bathrooms. Entire interior and exterior of house has just been painted.

Shawn Abbott purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Shawn Abbott chose Lake Ariel

We traveled to the area and absolutely fell in love with the community. We're excited to make some great memories with our family here and hope that you will do the same.

What makes this chalet unique

The fountain (in season)! The sounds and the view are incredibly relaxing. Also, the property is a short walk to the community outdoor pool (with snack bar) as well as the community beach on Deer Lake.

Beautiful property, very well maintained. The owners absolutely thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

We had an unbelievably wonderful experience at this property from 12/18-12/20! After initially booking the property for 12/17-12/19, I was contacted by owner Shawn Abbott and informed that the property was already in the process of being booked by another guest. I was somewhat disheartened because we were greatly looking forward to our stay but informed the owner that we understood. Shawn said that if we could push our trip back by one day he would he would work with us and without going into to much detail, let me just say that he absolutely did!

The property was exactly as described and the pictures do not do it justice! We had more than enough firewood to keep the fireplace roaring and the kitchen was well equipped with all the utensils we could possibly need. The grill worked perfectly and we even enjoyed soaking in the hot tub! If you have never experienced sitting in a hot tub when the outside temperature is below freezing, you are missing out! Every room was equipped with television, cable, and Roku. We were looking forward to playing some of the old school games they have available at the gaming station but we were too busy having fun cooking, sitting in front of the fireplace, watching Christmas movies and enjoying the hot tub!

I emailed Shawn the night we arrived to inform him of a few minor items we noticed that were in need of repair-nothing major. I was not requesting the items be repaired, only letting the owner know that their condition was pre-existing. Shawn responded immediately that he was aware of the items and thanked me for contacting him.

Also, within an hour after checking out, I received a message from Shawn stating that the place was left in good repair and I had my security deposit returned to me that very same day! This place is truly amazing and we cannot wait to return in the spring/summer to take advantage of the many other amenities offered such as the kayaks in the basement and making a fire in the outside fire pit. We had an amazing stay and I cannot recommend this property enough.

Amazing getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing Thanksgiving in the house with my family. The location is great with a relaxing view of the pond . The fireplace and hot tub made our time here more enjoyable. The landscape around the house is very nice to take long walks to see bigger lakes. The community center has an indoor pool which we used with our kids. The community is very nice to walk around and there are restaurants within 20 min drive. The house is nice for 2 families, or 1 big family. Indoor and outdoor space is very nice. The owner was very responsive and accommodating to our needs. I wish the indoor dining table was bigger but it was not an issue as there was room in the kitchen counter.

The Perfect Poconos Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The Fountain House has all the amenities you want in a vacation. With the indoor pool and activity center, you barely have to use your car to go have fun. The only thing we left the area to do was go to Bushkill Falls, which is a short drive away. IMHO it's a must-see in the area.

Back to the house: The view of the lake is gorgeous. The house itself is open and inviting. The kitchen is well-stocked with whatever you need for your trip. If you cook, the kitchen definitely has what you need to make some great meals. There are even spices in the cabinet. And coffee with a grinder! (Insert Homer Simpson drool here) There are glasses for whatever mood you're in: pint glasses for beer, stemless wine glasses, mugs, etc. TVs are in every room, which was really nice. Even though we didn't use them all, it's nice to know that we could all watch something different if we wanted. The weather was chilly, but sunny, so we were out most of the time. While we were there, we used the fireplace and even the upstairs has a faux fireplace that was very cozy and romantic. The delicious icing on top of all that is the hot tub. It was cold that weekend, so I wasn't going to go in. But the rest of the family insisted and I'm glad they did. Let me tell you, you don't even notice the cold outside while you're in a hot tub. WOW! There is nothing like a hot tub in fall or winter. Now I know.

We highly recommend this place if you're going to the Poconos.
