My husband and I have owned a home in Placencia for 13 years. We loved visiting the Florida Keys until it became so crowded with people and boats. The Peninsula and Placencia remind us of what the Keys and Key West must have been like 75 or 100 years ago.
Where else in the world can you dive or fish on the second longest Barrier Reef in the world in the morning and cave or hike through pristine jungle mountains and go to waterfalls in the afternoon.
We love it here because no other country in Central America offers so much for so little effort in such a tiny land mass. Add to this the environmentally caring infrastructure and English speaking, friendly, laid-back people and you soon realize that Belize really does have it all.
The Owner purchased this house in 2008
The fishing is some of the best in the world and the wildlife viewing is spectacular. It is an adventure lovers paradise.
Private yet a five minute walk into the village for great restaurants, bars, and shopping, and local guides will pick you up onsite for tours.
We had a wonderful stay at Sunset Pointe in Placencia. It rained quite a bit, so we opted to rent a golf cart in town to make our travels in the rain a bit easier. The home is well appointed, secluded and just as described in the listing. Francisco was great and ensured we were well taken care of during our stay and Alfred was a wonderful guide, from snorkeling, fishing to hiking through Mayan ruins and waterfalls in the mountains.
We had a fantastic stay at Sunset Pointe in Placencia. Location is close to town and even during the Rainy Season we could use the provided bikes to and from town in minutes. Furnishing and artwork inspired us to hunt in town for local carvers and painters
My husband and I recently spent 11 days at Sunset Pointe. We found the accommodations as lovely as described. We took time to relax and enjoy the views from every dock and porch. We usually ate in for breakfast and lunch then tried all the different restaurants for suppers. We rented a golf cart which allowed us to travel to the resorts beyond the airport when we wanted to splurge on a dinner out. Our favourite restaurant was MOJOS on the balcony. The reviews of Tutti Fruiti had us going there every nite for our after supper gelato. My favourite was half peanut butter half dark chocolate but there were close seconds. We really appreciated Averisto's tour of Monkey River. Thank you Janis for all your attention to detail. Visiting Placencia in the shoulder season meant that plans to attend an advertised BBQ, band or restaurant opening might be delayed until after Nov 15 when more tourists are expected. But we made friends with other travellers at the Sunset Pointe condos and created our own fun. In all it was an enjoyable time. I would go there again when it isn't quite so hot.
This was a family trip and my young childrens' first time out of the country. We knew we were in for a treat after reviewing all of the information about Belize and Sunset Pointe but we were not prepared for how amazing everything truly was. The photos and videos really do not do it justice. I highly recommend a fishing excursion with Alfred who I see mentioned in here more than once. He will take you to the best fishing spots and maybe even show you where to (safely) swim with the nurse sharks!
Hatchett Cay was a treat during our ocean excursion as well and was quite unexpected. Of course, one could make the whole vacation a memorable one by just staying at Sunset Pointe with an occasional venture into Placencia village's main area. Such wonderful local artists with their works on display as well as local cuisine and some very hospitable restaurant servers. There is definitely some great times to be had for those without the kids (i.e. newlyweds), too, but my first visit was made special by having mine and my wife there to take it all in.
I believe everyone should make it a point to come here and whether you stay at the Point House's apartment with full kitchen or one of the condos, you will not be disappointed. There are even two docks to enjoy the sunrise AND sunset. I prefer the sunset to reflect on the day, by the way.
Francisco the caretaker and his family are welcoming and warm. Their family lives on-site and takes care of the grounds to make sure the paradise that is to be found still looks that way every day. We will definitely be back and will know that this is the only place to get the full enjoyment out of our stay! Thank you to everyone involved, especially the owners who cannot be given enough kind words for their generosity and hospitality.
My wife and I just spent a wonderful week in Belize, and our only complaint is that we didn't plan to stay longer. The apartment and grounds are beautiful. The pictures give you a good indication, but if anything the reality is even nicer. Placencia Village has lots of nice restaurants to choose from, and Belize has an amazing variety of things to do between snorkeling, fishing, jungle excursions and wildlife, Mayan sites to explore, waterfalls, and much more. Janis was very helpful in recommending what we needed to bring, and guides for excursions and fly fishing. We definitely plan to return, and will stay longer next time.
We arrived short notice during low season and Janis was super accommodating. Francisco, the caretaker, was pleasant and very helpful, and Alfred was really a gem! First time to Belize, 2nd accommodation and we couldn't have planned it any better. The coconuts falling from the trees startled us at first but once Alfred showed us how to open them they became a treat. I hope we get back to this place and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
Ziplining, cave tubing, spearfishing, secluded island hoping, jungle exploration, Mayan ruins, waterfall tours
