Description

Trenton House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, separate bunkhouse, sleeps 4 adults, 8 total

Imagine yourself in this peaceful light-filled retreat gazing out over the shoreline to Acadia's beautiful mountains and truly disconnecting from everything but the beautiful natural surroundings that seem to enter this home like a living mural. You'll marvel at the entire wall of windows that look out over the Western Bay like a large movie screen at once refueling and relaxing your worn spirits. Out on the deck overlooking the shoreline awaits a spectacular 210 degree unobstructed view like none other in the area. The Shore House at Main Stay is uniquely situated on the shoreline at the very tip of a promontory jutting into the Mt. Desert Narrows and the Western Bay creating an impressive view every day no matter the season or the weather. See for yourself - check out the video.

Imagine cool Maine nights on the shoreline enjoying a campfire cooked meal before retiring to a refreshing sleep initiated by the sound of the lapping waves on the rocky shore just beyond your window. You've found the perfect location for launching a kayak, just strolling along the shore looking for shells and starfish, good laughs and conversation on the large deck, reconnecting with loved ones or rekindling a romance. There's a ramp to the water and you can almost pull your car up to the shoreline making it one of the easiest locations to launch kayaks or small boats. Surrounding the home are beautiful perennial gardens and lots of yard space for dogs and children to run and explore.

This home isn't like the others. While it has a fully stocked kitchen, high ceilings, a large open floor plan, washer/dryer, wonderfully comfortable beds and a location close to attractive downtown Ellsworth, amazing Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor's quaint shops and restaurants, it's charm is not in granite counter tops, recessed lighting or modern finishes. It's charm is it's classic Downeast Maine character expressed through its rustic panelling, leather seating reminiscent of a ship Captain's quarters, fine art, classic furnishings, lovely gardens, a separate ditty box studio with two bunkbeds that kids will love (parents too, probably), a wood stove and incredible views. This is your home away from home and everything else you want to leave behind.

About Stephen Price

Mainstay has been a part of our family for four generations.

Why Stephen Price chose Downeast and Acadia

Our family compound is a labor of love, that started over 100 years ago with our grandmother's brothers and sisters. She came from a family of 10, and they all pitched in and built a family 'camp' where they would all gather together throughout the summer and enjoy each others company. Our great aunts made superb home cooked meals while the great uncles sat outside, swapping tall tales and laughing all afternoon.

The family camp called Sea Breezes no longer exists, but we honor their memory and share their love of this beautiful little piece of heaven.

What makes this house unique

Oak Point is perfectly situated on a point of land that looks out over Western Bay to Mt. Desert Island. The property is oriented south, so we enjoy lovely sunshine all day. There is a large granite outcropping on the shore which is called Table Rock, a well known shore landmark. The shore itself is endlessly fascinating to kids of all ages, and beachcombing and rock skipping are favorite activities

Great location but home needs some work

  • 2 of 5

I would love to give this home a great review because the location is fabulous but I just cannot. The home itself is dated and worn. Carpets are stained, screen doors missing, a window frame broke, an ant problem with traps everywhere. On the plus side, there is plenty of privacy and parking and the garden is absolutely beautiful but we will not be back unless the home is updated.

Right on the water w/ stunning views!

  • 5 of 5

This home was so convenient to everything in the area, but I didn't want to leave the property because it was so comfortable and the views were mesmerizing. Can't wait to go back to my home away from home in Maine!

Just Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

One of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had. Being right on the water with a view of Cadillac Mountain was magical -- especially in the moonlight. The house was beautifully furnished and so comfortable we felt right at home. I didn't want to leave!

There are very good reasons why families have chosen Acadia for their vacations for centuries. The pristine beauty of the area attracts nature lovers and those seeking peaceful reconnection to a simpler life. However, if you are looking for fun and excitement, you can find that too with plenty of family oriented activities nearby - go kart racing, mini golf, kayaking, sailboat cruising, hiking and biking are just a few of the fun things you can do.

No question that Acadia National Park is a very popular destination with lots to see and experience. I've been to the Park more times than I can count, and never get tired of it. If you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of Mt. Desert in summer, then Mainstay is the place for you. Super convenient, quiet and relaxed, with access to everything nearby just minutes away without the crowds. You can't get better!
