“in downtown Montreal, there exists a territory covering slightly more than a square kilometer where the cultural activity is particularly concentrated: 28 venues and 80 sites of artistic diffusion together weave, season after season, the rich hours of Montreal's cultural life. This is the quartier des spectacles, the official name given recently to a quadrilateral where culture unfolds on an effervescent world.”

I enjoy traveling. My favorite destination so far would have to be the south of Peru. We went with the two kids (10 and 12 years) for three weeks. We were on Machu Picchu on the day of its 100th year anniversary (of being rediscovered). WHAT A SITE!!!
Stef purchased this condo in 2014
This is a great place for anything in and around Montreal. You are in the heart of all the festivals. (Jazz, Just for Laughs...). You have music and plays theatres nearby. Nightlife. A hop-skip-and-a-jump away to any attractions.
We stayed for 5 days at Stef's condo. His dad, Alain, met us at the condo. He explained the garage and the air conditioning and showed us the condo. He told us where the grocery store was located, but didn't tell us it was closed that day for the Labour Day holiday! The condo looks just like the pictures, no surprises. Good for two people, I wouldn't put 4 adults, but I like my space.
Underground parking (we have motorcycles so this was ideal)
Location - 10 minute walk to the Old Port, close to the DesJardin underground Mall, close to the Subway station, on the corner of St Catherine's Street. We walked or took the subway everywhere.
Despite the great location the condo is very quiet.
The condo is very well stocked with everything we needed. We didn't cook any dinners in, but it looked like there were plenty of pots, pans, some olive oil and spices, and tools to do so if needed. Plenty of sheets, towels, laundry detergent, etc.
We didn't need them, but there was a high chair and stroller in the closet.
In-unit laundry was great, we were able to pack lightly, a bonus especially with limited space of our motorcycle panniers.
Lots of maps and brochures available in the condo.
The bed was firm, which I wasn't sure I liked, but neither one of us woke up with back pain, which puts it in the plus category for me.
Stef was easy to deal with, quick to respond, and made things easy. Our security deposit was returned the day of our departure.
The Not as Good:
The condo was not as clean as I would like to see. Counters and dishes seemed clean, but the entertainment center, all of the baseboards, any surfaces that can catch dust, and the corners were pretty dusty. The inner shower curtain was really gross with that yucky pink mold (could be replaced monthly?), and the small rug in the bathroom should be washed after each rental (I washed it when we did our laundry).
If Stef could do a better job with cleaning, this place would get five stars.
Stephane is a great host. He met us when we arrived and spent some time with us to show us the unit and the rooftop terrace, as well as tell us things we must eat while in Montreal. When I had questions, he was very quick to respond. A grocery store is a 10 minute walk away, as is the metro. Both Vieux Montreal/Old Port and Rue St Denis are also within a 10-15 minute walk for restaurants and shopping. Unit is on the edge of Chinatown. We parked our car in the underground garage and left it there untouched for the entire week we were there. We walked or took the Metro everywhere. We bought 3 day "MTL Passports" which include unlimited Metro rides and many museums and attractions. If you plan to go to Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the four sites at the Olympic Village, it's worth it.
Unit has everything a family needs for a short or long stay. Everything is clean and new, just as the pictures show. Bed is very firm but comfortable. The sofa bed is typical with squeaky springs and a softer mattress. Pillows were great. There were plenty of towels and linens as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Building is very secure, needing a pass code or key to enter.
If we ever return, we will stay here again. Thanks Stef for your hospitality!
Stephan was a great host! Timely with his communications. The pictures are exactly what the apartment looks like. It was on the 4th floor and easy access in and out. Lots of restaurants nearby. The apartment was furnished well and very clean. Close to 2 metro stations (Berri Uqam and St. Laurent), both an easy walk of about 3-4 minutes. The apartment was quiet and safe. We stayed 19 days with our 2 elementary school aged children and the apartment had everything we needed. We were able to cook a few meals as there was a IGA market about a 10 minute walk away. The only down side was the sofa bed. Soft and a bit creaky due to the coil springs, but we would still highly recommend this apartment! Many thanks to Steph for all his hospitality!!!
Mahalo and Aloha!
Family from Hawaii
Perfect location. The apartment is exactly as advertised, and the owner is very helpful.
Nice new apartment, very clean and modern. Fully equipped. Very central, walk to everything. Close to restaurants, shopping, nightlife right on St. Catherine St. as well as art and music festivals in summer. Bedroom bed a bit on the hard side. Otherwise excellent stay. Would recommend.
All venues for the Montreal Jazz Fest or within a 10 minute walk of the condo. The condo is modern secure and well supplied with anything you would need like hair blowers, ironing board, full kitchen etc. The owner greeted us at the door and showed us around the complex which includes gym. Not only that, Stef gave recommendations for the must do things in Montreal! We highly recommend staying at this VRBO!
