Great place close to the National forest to share with others.
Secluded, Quiet, Close to National forest. Front porch to relax on.
Comfortable and clean.
Mostly good overall. It's a little close to the road so not sure how summertime traffic noise would be. Appreciated the cleanliness. Nightlight in bathroom did not work.
Nice new-ish very clean cabin. Convenient to the many outdoor activities in the area. Bring your own supplies - it is not a commercial area at all. You will also need to bring your own firewood; we didn't find anyone in the area selling bundles of wood.
My husband and I stayed there for a 2 day weekend. We loved it. It was the perfect cabin. It was easy to find, and close to local attractions. We went to black water falls, smoke hole caverns and cass railroad. The food at the gateway restaurant was very good and it at the bottom of the hill. It was very clean. I would stay there again. We loved it! Lisa and Mike from WVA
It was wonderful! The cabin was great and the location was beatiful and peaceful!
My wife, daughter, and I stayed here for two nights in late July. The accommodations are exactly as advertised: clean, modern, and nestled into the peaceful hillside on the forest road to Spruce Knob. The owners were quick to communicate, and arranging our visit was easy. The cabin provided everything we hoped it would: a restful, secluded spot to enjoy some time together with easy access to outdoor recreation and the comforts of home. Overall, I think the cabin offers a lot of value for the price. We would definitely stay here again!
Visitors should note that the Gateway Restaurant (simple, tasty, and inexpensive) is the closest place to eat. The surrounding area is fairly rural so come prepared with supplies to grill or heat inside as there are not many obvious places to pick up food nearby.
Our property is located in the Spruce Knob Seneca Rocks recreation area. While you are here don't miss a hike to the top of Seneca Rocks, and the grand view of the valley below. A short scenic drive and a very short walk takes you to the observation tower on Spruce Knob. There are a couple caverns in the area open for tours. There is great trout fishing in the area and much more.
If you are up to the adventure Nelson Rocks area offers guided climbing for the inexperienced as well as the seasoned mountaineer. They also have Zip lines to add to the fun.
Within a one hour drive we also have access to several ski resorts including Canaan Valley and Timberline. Also within an hour is Cass Scenic Railway, Blackwater Falls and more.
Of course if you want to stay put and relax at the cabin we are back far enough in the woods for plenty of peace and quiet, and there is plenty of national forest to hike in right around the cabin.
So leave the stress at home and come enjoy real mountain relaxation.
