This beautiful, spacious, light filled Custom Cape in North Chatham is situated on a rise at the end of 1.5 Mile Nickerson's Neck stretching into the warm waters of Pleasant Bay. Great neighborhood for kids. On a cul de sac, well removed from traffic, and only one property back from the water on two sides; Crows 'Pond' on one and Pleasant Bay on the other. Glimpses of water, lots of sea breezes, and just steps down a shared right of way to the shore to launch your kayak (Kayaks provided!). The house is surrounded by professionally kept gardens including a Japanese garden and Koi pond off the deck. The house features vaulted ceiling with skylights in the dining-sitting area, kitchen with FP, den with wood stove, and family room with FP, lots of seating, and three 48' HDTVs. Three bedrooms include queen size beds. The fourth includes a pullout and two twins.
Nearby Family Swimming: We are often asked “we have young children, how close is the nearest public beach? The 'ideal' swimming/sunning beach for the family is Jackknife Harbor beach on Orleans Rd just over a mile from the house. With plenty of public parking, Jackknife Harbor beach is a nice sandy beach on Pleasant Bay with relatively warm, calm water, and a tidal stream for the children to play in. Jackknife beach is perfect swimming for both children and sunning for adults!
If you want to cut the older kids loose to do some swimming on their own, they can ride their bikes from the house down quiet side streets to Strong Island Landing just over 1/2 mile from the house. This is a great beach/landing for the boys. Though a small beach, it is very little used.
Walking around the neighborhood: Our house is situated at the end of a 1.5 Nickerson's Neck stretching into Pleasant Bay. The outer end of the neck (beyond the golf course) consists of high end homes (many waterfront) on cul de sacs and quiet side streets. The streets are wide and winding with many glimpses of water. Morning and evening walks, jogs, and bike rides are a great way to enjoy the immediate neighborhood and the fresh ocean air.
Kayaking from the House: Across the circle at the bottom of our drive is a right of way leading down to the shore on Crows Pond. The water is little more than 100 yards from our back door. Please ask about using our kayaks, or bring your own canoe or kayaks and use our kayak carts to walk them down to the shore. Crows Pond and the sheltered portion of Pleasant Bay just outside the Pond are some of the Cape's premier kayaking waters. Great wildlife viewing. Kayak out to Fox Island for a quick swim or picnic, or further out to Strong Island Preserve for a day of hiking/swimming!
Great Neighborhood for Children: If you have children, bring their bikes! Our house is on a private circle at the end of Fox Hill Road in an exclusive neighborhood with great neighbors. There is little traffic on the local side streets. We have a nice lawn surrounding the house on three sides - and removed from the street - great for the very young to play in the grass. Older children can ride their bikes 1/2 mile down quiet side streets to Strong Island Landing for swimming.
The home was custom built in 1991 and has been in the family since. While we live in MA, we don't have frequent opportunities to use the home at present, and have decided to share this beautiful property with others vacationing in Chatham.
Having had family on the Cape, and having vacationed there our entire lives, we have come to know and have a special fondness for the Chatham area. Chatham is classic Cape Cod, with a wonderful small town feel, magnificent Pleasant Bay, miles of Atlantic Beach, and very little of the over-development found in other Cape towns. The land we purchased to build on is a mile and a half out on a neck of land that extends into Pleasant Bay. The mile and a half drive itself is a scenic pleasure as it winds through a private golf course with magnificent views of the bay and ocean on both sides. The neighborhood at the end of the neck is secluded, quite, and features beautiful side streets winding by waterfront homes. Perfect for bike riding, jogging, and quite evening walks.
Our extended family of 8 had an amazing week staying at this home in Chatham. The house is spacious with multiple seating areas and televisions. The kitchen was great for cooking and the kitchen and dining tables accommodated all of us for meals. We enjoyed our coffee (and cocktails) outside on the patio area next to the koi pond. The neighborhood is beautiful and it was nice to see people out and about during morning walks. We all enjoyed the kayaks and it was a short walk to launch them in the bay. There is a small beach near the house that's easily accessible, but it's also a short drive to some of the bigger beaches on the south coast. The drive into downtown Chatham was easy for a couple nights out and shopping. We would definitely go back!
Very comfortable accommodations for family of 11 including 5 children 7 and under. We loved the right of way down to Crow's Pond and enjoyed walking past the beautiful golf course (Eastward Ho) and views of Pleasant Bay. The house is well appointed, including 2 washers and dryers, 3 flat screen tvs, and a fully outfitted kitchen. The deck overlooks the picturesque coy pond. Minutes from downtown Chatham and all it has to offer as well as many beaches. Hope to come back next year!
My husband and two daughters just returned from our wonderful Chatham vacation. This was our second summer renting this lovely cape cod in North Chatham. The house is immaculate, comfortable and close to beaches as well as the town of Chatham with shopping, restaurants etc... I can't say enough good things about Mr. Schora's lovely home. We plan to return next summer too!
My wife and I and our five married children and spouses had a great stay in late May. Beautiful property in a beautiful, quite neighborhood. The home was clean, well maintained and nicely furnished. Lots of comfortable lounging/entertainment space--although we were mostly out enjoying all the cape has to offer. Mark was terrific to deal with and very responsive. This was definitely the right choice for us. Thanks Mark!
Our family has been vacationing in Chatham for the past few years and this was the best rental ever. We are a family of nine and the home was spacious enough for everyone. Having the bedrooms separate from the living areas was a plus. There was an abundance of available linens. The house was uncluttered and extremely clean. The owner provided superb customer service. The short walk to Crow's Pond provided lots to do for the kids and adults.
We have been coming to Chatham since we were kids, staying on Pleasant Bay. Now that my sisters and I have kids of our own, we were looking for a bigger, more updated house. This house was perfect for us! It had a great room for the younger kids with twin beds, a pull-out couch, private bathroom and a TV. The other bedrooms were roomy and had their own bathrooms as well -- a luxury among rentals in the Cape. There were three separate living/family rooms to accommodate us all. The larger family room was perfect for family movie nights with a huge flat screen TV. There was a smaller living room that was ideal for quiet reading and another family room/dining room for the "gang" to gather. The kitchen was wonderful with plenty of new pots and pans. Ideal for cooking for a crowd. Lots of utensils to use and a gas grill on the deck to use. Plenty of dishes, silverware and glasses for a crowd. The Japanese garden was truly beautiful as well as the gardens all around the house. We enjoyed our time in the garden for morning coffee or a little sun bathing. The house also comes with kayaksand carts that you can take along a short path to the water -- no loading them onto you car and driving somewhere to launch them. Our kids ages 9-13 loved kayaking around Crow's Pond! It's a beautiful spot with calm waters that everyone really enjoyed. We can't say enough good things about this house and can't wait to go back!
This large, North Chatham Classic Cape is just one property up from the water on two of four sides! Situated at the end of a secluded, 1.5 mile long neck jutting into Pleasant Bay with glimpses of water from the house. The shore, for walking, fishing, kayaking (kayaks provided!) and canoeing is only steps from your back door down a right of way. Chatham's finest warm water beach, Jackknife Beach on Pleasant Bay, is just a mile and a half from the house!
The house is located in a neighborhood of beautiful multi-million dollar cape style homes at the end of Fox Hill Road. Secluded, with no through traffic, the driveway is on a small circle that serves only four houses. The circle is at the very end of Fox Hill Road. The neighborhood is served by quite side streets with many ocean views for bike riding and evening walks. If you are bringing children and want them to bike and play in safety, this is the neighborhood for you.
