This was my childhood cottage where I spent long summer days swimming, jumping off the dock and boating on the beautiful lake. As soon as I arrive, I immediately feel a sense of relaxation and peace.
This adorable cottage feels miles away from city life while being just 40 minutes from Halifax and Dartmouth, 30 minutes from Bedford, Windsor and the Annapolis Valley.
They say that each lake has only one pair of loons and you can often hear their distinctive calls in the evening, as you sit quietly near the lake at sunset.
The cottage was as described. Only a short drive into Halifax, well equipped with a large fridge, stove and dishwasher. The stackable washer and dryer were very convenient. There was wifi and cable TV. All were in good working order.
The decor was charming and the lay out very convenient. Two full bathrooms in the cottage was another great convenience. The shower in the principal bathroom was small and the nasal is positioned quite low for most men. Plenty of towels and lots of hot water were always available. The cottage had a portable air conditioner which we had to turn on one evening. A couple mornings, we had to turn on the furnace briefly to take off the chill.
The lake was terrific for swimming and we appreciated the use of the boats made available. The water shoes provided were a good idea because the rocks were sharp and plentiful as one got into the kayaks or went for a swim. The cottage has two decks which caught the sun almost all day. Several outdoor chairs were provided. The decks needed attention and repair. While a charcoal barbecue was provided, a gas barbecue would be much more convenient.
this is a beautiful cottage on a wonderful lake the only unfortunate thing was our stay was too short !!!!
Considering a cottage over a hotel/motel this is the way to go without a doubt. This location was close enough to the city that we could drive in every day. Upon our return we didn't have to make any plans for what the kids would do while we tried to unwind from our stressful lives. The water and dock were all the necessities required. Our children loved the paddle boat and I was greatful for the life jackets provided. They swam and kayaked and fished. The space was very adequate for all six of us. The cottage is equipped with washer/dryer, dishwasher, wifi, cable TV large fridge, stove and of course all that you would need to operate the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and the whole experience made us miss living in Nova Scotia as we had once done before in our younger years. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.
Had a fantastic time on the lake. Cruised around in the paddle boat most of the day, spent some time just relaxing on the dock. The cottage has all of the things you'd find in a house in the city but is just far enough out that you don't think about the city. There are small stores nearby to take care if any needs which arise. There's also a liquor store about a 7 minute drive away.
Beautiful lake and nice cottage with everything you need; beds are not very comfortable and the cottage could use some declutering; the back lawn is very sloped down to the lake but there is a nice dock; Angela is wonderful to deal with - excellent communication; breath taking sunsets; Mosquitos are not bad at all; fishing is not good; wonderfully clear, clean, and warm lake great for swimming.
