About Kenneth Smith
We grew up in Maryland so are lovers of water, fishing and crabbing in the Chesapeake Bay, swimming along the beaches in Ocean City and enjoying the wildlife throughout the state. Kenny's career caused us to both spend over 20 years in Bermuda so again we were captivated by the water. So when Kenny retired and we saw this gorgeous but quaint waterfront opportunity, we couldn't resist owning and enjoying it.
Kenneth Smith purchased this House in 2014
Why Kenneth Smith chose Homosassa
We saw the resort in 2013 while visiting my sister in a nearby retirement community so we booked a vacation there for the following February, 2014. We enjoyed it so much that when we saw this house go up for sale, we settled on it before the end of the following month. We've only owned the house since March 2014 but we hope you enjoy it and the surrounding activities as much as our friends, family and we do.
What makes this House unique
Manatees in winter, scalloping in summer, golfing and fishing year round, gorgeous views, beautiful home!

Little tast of summer in late fall
What a beautiful house and location for a family get-away. The house matched the listing perfectly, great location, on a canal, minutes away from a manatee state park, great places to eat, etc. The house was decorated beautifully, all the kitchen cooking ware and appliances top notch! We cooked a full Thanksgiving meal during our stay and with flat screen tv's in every room, got to watch Macy's Thanksgiving parade and a couple of college bowl games sitting, leaning, laying or propped up. We had no issues during our stay. Fished a little in the canal out back and on the Homosassa river just a short walk down the canal board walk Definately met our expectations!!! Awesome x 10!!!
Thank you for the wonderful review and I am pleased that you liked the location and enjoyed your stay and Thanksgiving holiday. We do our best to keep the house as we would like it when we get the chance to stay. Thank you again for your review and I hope to hear from you again.
Best place to stay!! Great location and house!
We have always stayed at the Plantation for the 4th of July and scalloping. This was a thousand times better. The house is extremely clean and has everything you need. We only ate out one night. Grilled and cooked and relaxed at night after scalloping all day. We had 4 kids and they all had a blast and the pool is right next to the house. Will be making this a yearly tradition for sure
Very nice home and well taken care of.
Absolutely wonderful! Did not disappoint us!
We were very happy with our choice. The house has a very warm appeal. All rooms exceeded our expectation in size and was great for entertaining. The kitchen was well stocked with everyday items and more. We will definitely return.
So pleased that we could help make your vacation a memorable one. We look forward to your return.
Clean and large house
The house was perfect for four adult golfers. Large open kitchen with all pots, pans and utensils for cooking. A Weber bbq was utilized for grilling.
Normally, we do not watch much TV, but with the NHL playoffs on we cheered on our teams and noticed how extensive the television channels were.
Also, I must mention how accommodating the hosts were in switching some dates.
Well maintained, great location
We stayed one week and to summarize, the property was clean, kept in excellent condition and as a guest, you have plenty of space, a great view of the Homosassa River and you're within 30 miles of several beaches, springs, etc. Within the subdivision, the house is in a great location right next to the community pool and tennis court. Owner is responsive, helpful, and honest. When we returned home, our damage deposit was promptly returned.
If there were only one thing I could change about the property, that would be to provide better access to the canal for small and/or non-motorized boats, such as paddle boards, kayaks, etc. The boat slips are high, so if you have a pontoon boat, they would work great for it, but they are too high for launching any hand-carried boats. The back yard of the property is directly on the canal, but there are no steps down to it or floating docks that would be useful for hand-carried boats. To put those in, you have to use the boat ramp several hundred feet away which can be a bit slippery. Overall, the owner does a great job maintaining the property, but I don't think the canal access is something they would be permitted to modify.
