About Owner Patricia Ropp
The Orchard House began as a small photographers cottage down on the shore in Hulls Cove. Some time around the early 1900's the cottage was moved up to the orchard. It escaped the Great Fire of Bar Harbor in 1947 but burned to the ground exactly 50 years later in 1997. We rebuilt the house, bigger this time because our family was growing and now the house's story has seen another change. We look forward to welcoming guests to the Orchard House for a sixth year and for them to enjoy the house and its surroundings and to become part of its story too.

Great Family Vacation
We had family from Texas, Pennsylvania and South Carolina meet in this beautiful house for a wonderful vacation. It was peaceful yet close to everything we wanted to do. We had ages 3-70 years old and the house worked wonderfully for us.
Perfect for large family
We celebrated a 70th birthday with three generations. Wonderful space inside and out. We grilled a couple of nights and the kitchen was large and able to accommodate multiple cooks. We even had a coffee grinder delivered when we realized we had whole bean coffee! The location is perfect near Acadia and not far from downtown. The Chart Room ( in walking distance) accommodated all us (12) with good food, pleasant staff, and water views. We drove but the island shuttle could easily transport for local pick up spot. I have rented vacation homes in multiple locations and would highly recommend this home.
Perfect Maine home for a large group
We had a family gathering for my husbands 50th birthday. The house is perfectly located for exploring the island!
Wedding in Acadia
The house is beautiful, spacious, and sparkling clean upon arrival. We rented Orchard House and Cider House so we would have enough space for most of the Bride and Groom's family for a wedding in Acadia and everyone loved both houses. Even though it has a secluded setting it is only minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia and everyone enjoyed their week here. The sunrises were great and it was very nice to sit out on the deck and enjoy that first cup of coffee outside.
Lovely Home, Perfect location!
We just returned from our week long retreat in Bar Harbor. My husband's family tries to meet up somewhere each year...this year's stop was beautiful Bar Harbor / Acadia. We chose the Orchard House and it did not disappoint. House is immaculately clean, rooms and furnishings are comfortable and lovely. The kitchen, breakfast nook and dining space fit all of us comfortably and the comfy beds and quiet surroundings made the stay just perfect!! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner on our stay, she also answered several questions and emails regarding baby supplies and possible fishing trips in the area. Everyone loved the house and trip---we will return! (hopefully soon!)
Acadia Family Hiking Trip
Large rooms, beautifully furnished, wonderful kitchen and three full bathrooms. It is off the main roads, but walking distance to a great restaurant and pizza and ice cream place. A very short drive to the main entrance to Acadia.
The Orchard House is located in Hulls Cove, it is quiet and secluded yet just 3 miles from Downtown Bar Harbor and a couple of minutes from Acadia National park. At the Hulls Cove General Store you can pick up coffee, a newspaper and grocery items or board the free Island Explorer shuttle bus. The Chart Room Resturant offers delicious dining right on the water or pop into Peppers for pizza and calzones.
Lake Wood is just up the road. It is part of Acadia and a great place to swim. Bullfrogs like it too!
