Situated in historic Hulls Cove; a quiet and beautiful little cove just 3 miles from downtown Bar Harbor where the sun rises over the water and the Porcupine islands, and each morning the sky and sea delight the eye. Some days the islands are draped in fog and the water looks like silver. Other days the water sparkles like diamonds with countless shades of blue. It is ever changing and always breathtaking.
The Orchard House began as a small photographers cottage down on the shore in Hulls Cove some time around the early 1900's. At a later date the cottage was moved up to the orchard. It escaped the Great Fire of Bar Harbor in 1947 but burned to the ground exactly 50 years later in 1997. We rebuilt the house, but a good deal bigger this time because our family was growing. Now the time has come for yet another change to this house's story. We look forward to welcoming guests to the Ochard House and for them to enjoy the house and its surroundings and to become part of its story too.

It was so wonderful and memorable times at your house. Everyone told me that it was the best vacation house they have been. You and your son are so kind and had helped whatever we asked. Pictures in your house are full of artistic. Your garden is so romantic. We really enjoyed so much there since your house and your kindness.
As a group of women all turning 60 this year we wanted a memorable vacation; we started in Boston and finished the last few days at the Orchard House. We loved the home's layout, the large, bright bedrooms and amenities included. The kitchen was great as a few in the group love to cook-the large dining room table worked well for dinner and card games. The mix of art and pictures in the home are interesting and fun. The home is secluded yet accessible to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Trish was an attentive host throughout the booking process and on our arrival. If you have a large group/family and want to be near the attractions on Mt. Desert Island, stay here!
Our family of 8 absolutely loved the Orchard House and its lovely owner and the most gracious host Trish.
The house is bright, specious, has lots of room for a large family to have a comfortable stay and prepare homemade meals; that is a true home away from home. The location of the house is excellent, it is easy to explore both sides of the Island (East and West) form there, whether by car or by the Island shuttle.
There are so many good things about this house that would be hard to list all of them, but one absolutely amazing feature is its backyard. It looks and feels like a beautiful park, very private, and so large that it appears to go on forever. My two grandchildren felt instantly very happy there and were free to run around in that beautiful and safe place. If it were not for a bit rain at the end of our stay, the kids (as well as adults) would not leave the yard at all. We had such a great time at the Orchard house and will cherish some truly great memories of it forever!
Thank you, Trish for sharing your house with us, and for being such a great host.

This was the first visit to Maine for many in our large family group of 12. The Orchard House fulfilled all our needs. The house had plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, a large deck and a well equipped kitchen. It was stocked with beautiful white towels and sheets and was supplied with enough paper products for our week long stay.
Probably the best part was the location. The house is only minutes away from the Hull's Cover Visitor Center of Acadia. From there we could take the shuttle anywhere in the park or to Bar Harbor. It was very convenient and efficient method of transportation and allowed our group to go to different areas of the park and avoid all the traffic.
Besides hiking every day, we rented bikes in Bar Harbor to ride the carriage trails and also kayaked on Long Pond. There was a lot to do and see and we were never bored.
Whenever we returned from our park visits, we met out on the deck to play games, relax and talk. What a wonderful gathering place!!
Thanks to the Ropp family for allowing us to live in their beautiful home for a week.
We have been going to Maine for 25 years with our family.
We rented the Orchard House which was a beautiful Home away from home. Our family all joined us for my parents 50th Anniversary, we had a great time, all the kids, and the dogs had a great time in the beautiful orchard. All the added things in the home were great, plenty of towels, games, spices and added kitchen items were great.
We had a great time and if you stay at the orchard home, you will love it. Can't wait to go back and visit this special place again.
We had been in couch with the owner for the house with multiple questions prior to officially booking and she was so kind and genuinely helpful. She made the vacation booking process and easy as can be! When we got there the house was literally a home away from home! Our family was there for a 50th anniversary celebration and we had adults and kids from a two month old and up! The kids played outside without a worry! The yard was a perfect size for multiple outdoor activities for all ages! the space was amazing and perfect for our family of 16! We enjoyed all the accommodations and felt so comfortable. This was our first family vacation all together and because of the wonderful experience I'm sure it won't be the last! We had a blast and couldn't be happier! I highly recommend this vacation home to any family or group of people! You will be as happy as we were without a doubt!
We had a group of 10 get together here for a college reunion. The number of beds and baths was perfect, and we could of fit a few more folks. The fully equipped kitchen, horseshoe pit, and open living room were especially appreciated. The house is kept very clean and the collection of art displayed on the walls was appreciated by a number in our group. The proximity to downtown Bar Harbor and anywhere in Acadia National Park make this an ideal place to stay when you are visiting Maine.
The Orchard House is located in Hulls Cove, it is quiet and secluded yet just 3 miles from Downtown Bar Harbor and a couple of minutes from Acadia National park. At the Hulls Cove General Store you can pick up coffee, a newspaper and grocery items or board the free Island Explorer shuttle bus. The Chart Room Resturant offers delicious dining right on the water or pop into Peppers for pizza and calzones.
Lake Wood is just up the road. It is part of Acadia and a great place to swim. Bullfrogs like it too!
