400 ft. private beachfront along Lake Michigan on 10 private acres. Welcome to our classic A-frame beach front home on Lake Michigan in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. If you come during winter, the snowmobiling will not disappoint. There are many groomed trails in Manistique - along the Manistique River and through scenic forests. There are 2,000 miles of groomed trails winding through the U.P. Hike around on our 10 acres, or head out to some of the best hiking trails in the state. Indian Lake State Park, Fox River Pathway, Ashford Lake Pathway.
A propane grill will get your group fired up for some great meals. If you bring your four-legged friend, there is a fenced in area behind the garage. The beach is adjacent to the cottage. If some grown-up entertainment is required, The Kewadin Casino will pick you up at the cabin and return your group (of at least 4) as well. Unique day trips are popular with all of our guests: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is 59 miles; Tahquamenon Falls State Park is 85 miles; Mackinac Bridge is under 2 hours. The land between the cottage and the beach can be weedy and muddy, depending on the weather. Cell phone service at the cottage is virtually nonexistent, but we have a landline for your use.
We have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus a main floor full kitchen. Although there is not air conditioning at the cottage, opening the windows in the Upper Peninsula, normally provides the ideal breeze to keep the cottage at a comfortable temperature. Plus, we have fans at the cottage as well. We have well water, so at times there is a sulfur smell that occurs. Normally, that dissipates once the water is run for a period of time. The joys of natural well water.
*Linens are provided*
Bedroom #1 (upstairs in an open loft): King size bed.
Bedroom #2 (main floor, adjacent to the kitchen): 2 twin size beds
Big Springs "Kich-iti-kipi": Michigan's largest freshwater spring. Two hundred feet across, and 40-feet deep. Over 10,000 gallons a minute gush from fissures in the underlying limestone at a constant 45 degree Fahrenheit. By means of a self-operated observation raft, visitors are guided to vantage points overlooking fascinating underwater features and fantasies. Ancient tree trunks, lime-encrusted branches and fat trout appear suspended in nothingness as they slip through crystal waters far below. Clouds of sand kept in constant motion by gushing waters create ever-changing shapes and forms, a challenge to the imagination of young and old alike.
Indian Lake Golf Course: A very popular, 18-hole golf course along Indian Lake. Just 5 miles from the Cabin.
The Kewadin Casino: It is approximately 10 minutes (7 miles) from the Lodge. If you make reservations, they will pick you up at the cabin and return your group as well.
Historic Manistique Water Tower: The Old Water Tower is one of the many historic sites in Schoolcraft County. Built in 1923 and constructed in the "Roman revival" style, it is also listed in the national register. The renovated building will provide space for arts related public events and public rest room facilities while preserving one of Manistique's unique and historic buildings.
Fayette State Park & Historic Town site: Fayette was once one of the Upper Peninsula's most productive iron-smelting operations. Located on the Garden Peninsula at Snail Shell Harbor. When the charcoal iron market began to decline, the Jackson Iron Company closed its Fayette smelting operation in 1891. It is now a completely restored village including 22 historic buildings, museum exhibits and the visitor center, which can be toured May through October. The historic site is located in Fayette State Park.

Seeing Lake Michigan the moment you open your eyes as you sit up in the king-sized bed upstairs.
Thank you for a wonderful weekend. We have family in the area and this was SO much better than staying in a hotel room. We took a walk on the beach this morning, enjoyed the eagles and spending time around the fireplace. The view is absolutely spectacular and we will definitely be back!

Clean, well cared for, overall great.
This was a wonderful experience and relaxing time spent on the shores of Lake Michigan. The home was well equipped and little necessities were needed to have a great time. If there were any concerns noted it would be that we were unable to locate the tongs to the electric mixer- haha our fingers and a few forks worked just as well! The owners of the property were extraordinary and went out of their way to help when we experienced transportation difficulties. There were always "care takers" takers in the area and community transportation available for us at
Minimal cost. This was a wonderful place for respit and made an even more exceptional when forced into unexpected downtime. We had the entire area to ourselves and our fury friends 2-dogs with little concern for their roaming. The area is scenic and well supplied with area stores. If you are looking to work offline the quiet is supreme. If you are looking to work online- this may be frustrating for you. It worked great for us and we Would stay here again!
Amazing! Amazing people to do business with. The house was awesome! We had the best, most relaxing vacation we have ever been on. Waking up to the view of Lake Michigan was glorious! I have highly recommended to many people since the beginning of our vacation, including other vacationers that we talked to. We will definitely be using your services again. Many, many thanks for the incredible memories. You made our anniversary week epic!
My husband and I usually stay on Lake Superior but decided on Lake Michigan. This is the nicest home, well maintained, beautiful beach and view. The home is well equipped for all your needs and not far from the casino and town of Manistique. We are thinking of going back again late summer 2016. Thanks to the owner for letting us share your home.
We had a great time ! Very clean nice place. Will recommend this place to all my friends and family. And next time I am home on leave, will check to see if it is available.
My husband, our two young kids and dog ventured up to the Manistique for the first time. The house was very comfortable and convenient. The views were spectacular and we loved sitting out of the huge deck. The master bed was nice and soft and the view was amazing. The house did not have central AC, which was a surprise, but with the windows open it was very comfortable.
The appliance may be older but they all worked wonderful. There is a great gas grill on the porch that we used a bunch of times.
The only thing that was challanging is that I had brought my computer to get some work done while we were there but the internet was spotty at best. I had talked to Freshwater Vacation rentals and they got someone to fix the issue but it was still very unrelieable. That coupled with the fact that my verizon service only wanted to work if I was upstairs made for a few challanging situations. Next time I would just leave work at home and go to enjoy some down time.
This house is perfect if you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the real world.
Pictured Rocks is about a 60 minute drive northwest of the cottage.
Tahquamenon Falls is about a 60 minute drive northeast.
