3 Bedroom, 2 1/2 Bathroom Farmhouse With Gorgeous Sunsets Over The Hill Country

This 1,950 square foot 1930 farmhouse was moved back away from the farm-to-market road in 1999 and completely restored by a charming German couple. The home sets on a six-acre gentleman's pecan orchard

The physical address is 2509 FM 1984, Maxwell, TX 78656. The distance to Prime Outlet Mall is only 10 miles.

We operate two additional Home Away listings (3776525 and 4352975) on this property and we serve groups up to twenty five (25).

The main farmhouse has two decks to enjoy; one in the front of the home and another facing the spacious garden area in the back of the home. The garden is a perfect bird watching spot. You can relax in a chaise lounge and listen to the birds' cacophony. There is plenty of open space to take walks or even go jogging. If exercise is not on the schedule relax in the hammock or serve up your favorite BBQ while taking in the natural beauty of the farm.

This property is a working gentleman's pecan orchard. The harvest normally occurs in the month of November.

The owners live on site and for the convenience of our guests we are able to quickly respond to any property management issue that may arise. The HVAC system is on a service provider contract that provides same day service should anything go wrong. Brian is quite handy at the basic homeowner fix-it needs and is happy to help at any time. In 2016 we have begun purchasing wind power from the 'Coast' and West Texas wind farms to power all electrical needs on site.

About Brian and Jo Anne Picht

My wife and I have managed properties for over 14 years. We love the pecan orchard so much we decided it is only right to share the experience with our traveler friends. Last year we offered our first Home Away property next door at the 'Nut House'. We live on site and are active in the day to day operations of the farm and Home Away. The property is located on a working pecan orchard complete with 140 old pecan trees ranging from 40 to 70 feet tall. We enjoyed a bountiful harvest in 2014. Jo Anne makes the best pralines, pecan pies and other goodies to take home if so desired. She operates with a Texas Food Cottage license which allows her to make certain foods on site according to State law.

Why Brian and Jo Anne Picht chose Texas Hill Country

We purchased this property sight unseen back in 2007 as it was such a beautiful property. Jo Anne first found the property listed on eBay, however, the auction did not reach reserve. The only photos we had access to were posted online. Next, we participated in a live auction held at the farmhouse via telephone and came very close to winning, however, it was necessary to submit a conventional offer through the auctioneer within 48 hours after the auction closed.

The offer was accepted and we moved from Sun Valley, Idaho, nestled in the mountains of Central Idaho, to Central Texas in a heartbeat. We have never looked back. We love Texas and all it has to offer. Come enjoy a little slice of Paradise.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The quiet setting is perfect for bird watching as the location is along the migration path of both birds and butterflies. The cute two story guest house is set way back on the property to provide maximum privacy. You are guaranteed to enjoy the view from the front porch sitting in the rockers sipping your favorite drink overlooking the old Mill across the street listening to an occasional train go by. On certain weekends, you may see several vintage WW II warbirds fly overhead as part of an airshow. The B25 will rock your world when it flies overhead at takeoff only 200 - 300 above the pecan trees. If there is no airshow you can visit the Confederate Air Force museum located on the grounds of the San Marcos airport. You will not be disappointed as there are many planes to look over and you can talk with the men maintaining the planes and sometimes there are pilots that provide personal tours of the facility. You can even ask to tour the inside of the cockpit of the B25! Certain days of the month you can actually fly in the B-25 for $400 per person.

The privacy of the garden area in the back of the house creates a great BBQ area in the evening with plenty of shade provided by the pecan trees. There is a large deck and with BBQ as well as a large garden area with great seating for everyone in your party.

Home Away From Home

We love The Nut House!! This was our second stay and we are looking forward to our third. The home is spotless and charming; worthy of a spread in Country Living Magazine. Although you are just a short drive to San Marcos you feel as if your in the country. We loved eating our breakfast every morning in the back courtyard, listening to the birds chirping and enjoying the beauty of the Pecan Orchard. Brian and Jo Anne are the perfect hosts! They have thought of everything one might need and it is at your fingertips. If your looking for a "home away from home" the Nut House will not disappoint!

Farmhouse

The description of the property was just as described. Truly enjoyed our stay and the awesome hospitality. Since we were there on business, Unfortunately we only had one evening enjoy the farmhouse. If you are looking for a place to relax, look no further. Fully equipped and very clean. We will definitely go back and will recommend to friends and family!

Nut House is Great

We loved the Nut House and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is well stocked and the home owners have a quick response time. It is clean, cute, and the beds are very comfortable. The only negative thing I have to say was my car got stained from the pecan trees in the driveway and will need to be buffed out. The house is lovely and the hosts are hospitable! I highly recommend others to stay here, just don't park under the trees! Thanks for allowing us to stay:)
