|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Pine Island is an authentic old Florida island. Not a beach or tourist area but a quaint, mostly undeveloped boating community. An angler’s paradise. You’ll have a hard time choosing which of the easy day trips to take by water-taxi or car. Experience all of the beaches and activities the surrounding area offers. Then come home to Pine Island!
Everyone knows the winters here are perfect. We love summers too where you'll practically have the beaches to yourself with the best water temperatures for swimming and snorkeling.
Ft. Myers Beach has sugary white beaches, sand volleyball, miles of unique shops and nightlife for all ages. You'll definitely want to pack up our lawn chairs, cooler, sand buckets and beach towels and spend the whole day shelling and relaxing on Sanibel Island.
Want to really get away? Our home is 5 minutes to the ferry that will take you from Pine Island to Cayo Costa. This undeveloped island has seven miles of secluded white sand beaches. Pack a picnic because there are no stores, restaurants or even electricity on Cayo Costa. What does it have? Swimming, shelling, dolphins, manatees, osprey, egrets, pelicans, magnificent frigate birds, bald eagles and much more.
The FISHING off Pine Island is some of the best in the world year round. If you don't have a boat, take our lawn chairs and cooler and fish off the bridge or island piers. Everything in the gulf swims under the bridge. Shark, snook, red snapper and mullet are common catches. Pine Island has island-inspired art galleries and shops and incredible meals at relaxed, waterfront restaurants.
This sunny stilt duplex vacation home has a queen bed and two twin beds. Extra air mattresses and linens are available for larger families. Limit of 4 adults. Fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer and BBQ grill.
YOUR family should be SMILIN' ON PINE ISLAND!

Myers airport (RSW) or Punta Gorda airport (PGD).
This was our family's second stay at the Wilson House. Each day (after outings to the Sanibel beaches, Caya Costa State Park, Marco Island, etc.), someone in our party of 4 always mentioned about returning "home." That, I thought, spoke volumes about how comfortable everyone felt here and how cozy a place this is to stay. We were even welcomed this year with a bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table. The house includes everything one could need; we especially appreciate having a washer and dryer so we didn't have to pack a week's worth of clothes when we came. We used the beach umbrella, beach chairs, beach bag and towels every day and the Yahtzee game (in the game closet) every evening. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, near several restaurants and deli, and near the Tropic Star marina (for kayaking and for the ferry ride to Caya Costa). It is about an hour from Sanibel, which is an easy drive. Wifi is available in the house. We were able to connect with our smartphones, but found that we spent the majority of the week disconnected, enjoying the sun, the sand, the water and each other's company. Thank you, again, to Michael and Sherry, for sharing their home with us and allowing us to call this place "home" for a week!
The owners were provided a lot of information on the area and things to do well in advance of our stay. All of them were excellent recommendations from day trips to restaurants. The home was well equipped with amenities to enjoy whatever trip you may take around Pine Island - fishing, beach enjoyment, kayaking. It was great not having to bother bringing towels, coolers, ice packs, etc. Cayo Costa is a must visit if you are staying on Pine Island or in the surrounding area. Couldn't have asked for a more involved owner. Thanks again!
My wife, daughter and I just spent a week at the Wilson House. The accommodations were wonderful and you could tell that the person picking out wall hangings, etc. had a good sense of humor. The Wilsons gave us detailed instructions on the best places to go for swimming, kayaking and every other kind of activity you could imagine. We did as many as we could, then came home at night for a relaxing night of cards, movies, or whatever. The sand on Fort Myers Beach is some of the softest, finest sand you will see anywhere, and the kayaking at Bokeelia was awesome. We had fun parasailing at Fort Myers Beach, as well. The Wilsons had a lot of recommendations for the best eating in the area, so we took advantage of their advice. It was the best vacation ever, and the hardest part of the whole vacation was packing up to go back home. Thank you, Michael and Sherry for sharing with us your little corner of paradise!
My wife, teenage daughter, and I spent a week here beginning 7/4/13. It was a perfect place for a family vacation. The house was clean and decorated in a manner that made it feel cozy and homelike. The owners are thoughtful of their guests' needs and had beach chairs, a beach umbrella, beach towels, cooler, beach toys, games, videos and bikes available for use. They provided us with a description of their favorite beaches (we visited all but one) and favorite places to eat, so we didn't feel as if we were starting from ground zero. This was very helpful to us as we planned our next day's activity, and we referred to it each night. When we notified them at 10:30 PM of a possible problem with the air conditioning, they had it fixed the next day. After our vacation ended, they e-mailed and asked for suggestions - large or small - that would improve someone's stay. (We had none.) This just shows the interest they have in their guests' well-being. Although the weather in Florida is hot and humid in July (and I had some misgivings about even going), we spent everyday in or near water where there was almost always a refreshing breeze. We especially enjoyed Cayo Costa State Park, where we felt like we had a tropical island all to ourselves. (In fact we went back again our last day of vacation). The many beaches on Sanibel Island and Ft. Myers each had their own feel and characteristics and they were less than an hour away. We are very grateful to have found this place and felt renewed and recharged after our week here. A big THANK YOU to the Wilsons for sharing it with us and for their interest in helping ensure that their guests have as wonderful a time as possible!
When my family condo fell through this year I as a single mom thought that I would not be able to have a vacation with my daughters. Through VRBO I was able to find Mike and Sherry Wilson owners of the Wilson House. My children were raised In St. James City and our family has been on Pine Island for more than 25 years.
When I found this listing I called right away. The WILSON HOUSE has to be added to your list of favorites. When we arrived we had everything you could ever need or want. It was like coming HOME. I am a very picky person so when I tell you that this house was so CLEAN really CLEAN! Sherry and Mike has it decorated beautifully with the Island and beach theme. This is a duplex and I never heard the neighbors not once. I was able to meet them briefly as we both were looking out the front doors at the same time watching the in coming storm.
This house is located blocks away from Pine Island Rd which is the way on and off the Island. You are in Matlacha in minutes which is a must do. Filled with unique Artist shops and great restaurants. You can be on Ft. Myers Beach in 20 minutes, Bonita Beach in 40 minutes and Sanibel Beach in less then a hour.
Mel Meo one of my dearest friends and a world known Artist is now giving Art lessons at her studio. It is a 2 hour course and I left the information at the house. Any raining day call Mel Meo and book your session. You should see my painting, Wow who knew I could paint! This is fun for anyone of any age. You will love her like the rest of us do. Her studio is located 2 blocks away.
I can not say enough good things about the Wilson house. Book now and have a great vacation although you will have to book around Me for next year. LOL. We will be back!
Thank you for opening your home to my children and me.
We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Wilson house. Clean, cute, comfortable - everything we needed was there. Close enough to enjoy Fort Myers and all the touristy stuff, but far enough away to feel away from it all.
