We are a Colorado family who have been vacationing in Mexico for over 30 years.
We fell in love with Sayulita more than 20 years ago and were very fortunate to be able to buy our home in 2005.
We are so happy to be able to share this magical spot with people from all over the world.
Our Casa is our part time home and you will find it has everything you need to feel at home too.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
Sayulita is a wonderful town and personifies all that we love about Mexico.
It is so easy to get to Puerto Vallarta from all over the US and the short drive up the coast sets the scene for the vacation experience. We always feel a thrill when we turn off HWY 200 and make our way under the Sayulita welcome palapa.
Less time is spent traveling and more time relaxing.
When we first saw the house, we saw its potential, fell in love with the views and saw a garden transformed into a lush tropical respite. We have continued to work on the house since day 1 and our frequent repeat visitors love to see what else is new.
Mexican architecture, space, privacy, the views, the pool and the wonderful town below.
For my first visit to Mexico, this house was excellent choice! Loved sitting out by the pool and watching the sunset, cooling off in the pool, retired to my private room (there were 6 of us), and the quick access to the town and beach. Even the walk back up the hill was good exercise to balance out all the margaritas.
The worst parts are the heat with no A/C but the pool and room fans make it doable. You gotta keep the kitchen clean as the ants will get to anything sweet, but it was all part of the experience.
Alma and Jose were great housekeepers and a great cook!
Definitely recommend the place to anyone wanting to explore Sayulita!
We loved staying in this house. It's open to the air architecture brings the outside in. If you prefer riding in a convertible or riding a bike to driving in a car where you are completely insulated from the outside world, then this is your house. It is very easy to while away the day between outings on the veranda, watching the birds and feeling the breeze. It was hot while we visited in June, but the house is well designed for cross ventilation and the ceiling fans are strong. The house is well appointed with excellent taste and the caretakers were great. Alma cooked a couple of excellent meals for us to heat up at our leisure which was a highlight. There is a 150 yard steep hill with cobblestones, stairs, and uneven ground to access the house which was challenging for my 78 year old mother and caused her to venture into the town only once a day, but she had a nice place to be and still have a good experience.
No doubt when you arrive at Casa Del Cielo and walk along the cobble drive to the pool you say wow .What a great place for 7 of us to gather , all of us had our won room and bathroom . Casa Del Cielo is up in the heavens on a ridge that looks south towards the town and bay.We loved the location. The house features an open kitchen facing a large windowless arched veranda . This was quite a fun living experience because there are no windows hence there is a lovely flow of spaces between casual seating and dinning areas. There are two bedrooms on this level as well as the pool. Karen and George have decorated the interior with wonderful rustic painted wood panels, ceramic figures, Mexican furniture and fabrics. The tile floors glisten and the curved tera cotta tile ceilings add to the ambience. You are also in a canopy of palm trees, surrounded by colorful boganvillia.
Afternoons had us around the pool relaxing on a chaise or sitting on chairs in the pool.
Karen gave us an extensive list of places to eat locally and I highly recommend Juan on the main street below as you walk in to town with his roasted chicken, peppers and potatoes.
The house keeping was great and we were taken care of well.
A number of our party caught the bus from the airport and the bus station is very close by down the hill.
There is a strenuous but not long walk up from the town but it only takes 5 mins walk down and you are in the main town where it is a surfer, swimmers, shoppers and eaters delight .There is a great market on Fridays 5 mins from the house .
Music exudes from this town as well as the warmth of its town folk . Chickens and the occasional donkey can be heard but for the most part you are above the town noise .
I would love to return again many thanks.
The photos do not do this house justice. Casa Del Cielo is beautiful. We could have stayed for month. The house is well stocked with everything you need. Everything worked perfect. The large living area is open air with a gorgeous view of the jungle and ocean. The infinity pool is spectacular. The road up to the house is a bit on the steep side , but you get used to it after a few drives. Rent a golf cart ( fuel injected) and you will have no problems getting to and from town and the beach. My Family , including my two young children will be back soon!
We recently stayed at the beautiful Casa del Cielo with our family and some friends. We were a group of 7 and the house was absolutely perfect. The location is ideal as it is not too far up the hill so it's just a few minutes to town and the beach, yet far enough away that we were not bothered by the nightly music in town. The accommodations exceeded our expectations. The living, dining area, and veranda are very large and comfortable. The bedrooms have their own bathrooms, which is very convenient as well as plenty of space to hang and store clothing and luggage. The pool and the grounds are beyond words!
Karen, the owner, and the caretakers were extremely helpful and answered all of our questions promptly. The caretakers cleaned each day and helped us with any inquiry. We booked the property very last minute (a few days before arrival) and Karen was very understanding, easy to work with, and friendly. She has also has several recommendations of what to do in town, the surrounding area, where to eat, and shop and nothing let us down. Thank you, Karen!
I would recommend this house to anyone going to Sayulita and I also hope we will stay there again in the future. Casa del Cielo is a true gem.
We cannot say enough about communication with Karen (the owner) prior to our trip, as well as contact we had during our stay. She seems to be truly interested in her guests having a good experience, rather than just in renting the property. For example, since half of our group was from San Francisco, Karen knew that the Sayulita summer heat may not be pleasant for them. So she kept reminding us that the house had no air conditioning, which seems to be typical of that area. But the house is so amazing and the pool so accessible that this "problem" was easily managed! Also, our earlier review had a snafu ("week stocked" instead of "well stocked") to which she responded "don't worry about it". Thank you, Karen, for your hospitality, even without your physical presence!!!
