About Howard Eisler
My wife and I have been coming to the Berkshires for over 35 years. I've done some real estate, buy sell and renovate in NY Metro, Killington, VT and the Berkshires. We used to own at Lakeside Condo's for about 10 years on the same Fox Hollow estate before we went into the Ski Lodge business in Killington, VT. Now we've retired to Florida for about 7mos. a year and just had to come back to the Berkshires for the other 5 mos. We have another place in Lenox.
Howard Eisler purchased this House in 2013
Why Howard Eisler chose Lenox
This property was just far to good. Westinghouse built the first electric house in SW Massachusetts less than a 1000 feet away. Vanderbilt bought it and built a bunch of buildings on the property for the private use of his family.. Overlooking Laurel Lake from the hill top are by far some of the best views in the area. When you talk about Berkshire locations this is about the best. Present day facilities on the premises that we have access to (no extra charges) include indoor and outdoor pools, club house, gym, tennis courts and of course 1000 feet of Lake front on Laurel Lake ready for fishing, canoeing and swimming with our own supplied boats and rafts.
What makes this House unique
This is the one of two single family unattached private home on the 220 acre Fox Hollow Estate that has ever been offered for short term rentals. This unique piece of real estate is awesome. As you take a short walk to the adjoining gardens at the Edith Wharton estate either on the horse back riding trails or by the lake route you will feel the draw that brought the Tycoons to this property. Centrally located to all Berkshire activities and wow what a vacation we have in store for you.

A Weekend in the Berkshires
A lovely, welcoming home! Very clean and comfortable. I rented to hold a scrapbook retreat with friends and family and I was not disappointed! We were 14 in attendance and all were extremely happy with our surroundings! The large kitchen held all of us without problems! It was wonderful to be able to cook in too! As a matter of fact, except for a couple of errands, no one left the house from Thursday - Sunday!! Even a two hour power outage couldn't dampen our spirits because of the natural light in the great room - it was well lit with all the windows! We have all decided we would love to go back sometime!! Thank you!
Weekend in the Berkshires
Nice house, everything you need for a great weekend available. Unfortunately, there is a step up/down into the living area which made it impossible for my 89 year old aunt to access with her walker. There are also 2 steps to enter the house without handrails making it more difficult than anticipated for my aunt or someone with a handicap. Everyone enjoyed the weekend in spite of the 2 aforementioned problems.
The sunken living room / great room with pool table, fabulous fireplace and large screen Samsung Smart TV was not designed for an 89 year old with a walker. However, we are incredibly over the top when it comes to taking care of our people using our accomodations. If we would have known about the problem in advance we would have made sure to address the issue with a satisfactory result. We are not ADA compliant but we do everything we can to make the facilities as user friendly as possible. We do have ramps in storage which we use from time to time when notified of the issue. The review itself is actually great. The score is obviously inconsistent with the review.
Perfect for what we needed
Got together with a group of college friends to watch the NCAA tournament and this house was perfect! TV in the family room was great, and the pool table was a nice touch. Plenty of beds, very comfortable and overall it was a great experience.
Large clean home with lots of amenities
10 of us vacationed here. Beautiful surroundings, quick drive to town... but no need to leave this home. Spacious kitchen and living area. Hot tub, pool table, sound system and darts kept us happy For hours.
This house checked off every box on our list-great location, clean & nice layout for 10 of us. Common area was big enough to hang out comfortably but bedrooms are nicely separated. House is well stocked, beds are comfy, plenty of nice towels for all. Howard had information well organized & everything about this rental was easy.
Look forward to coming back!
Stayed three days with my extended family. The space worked very well for 3 generations and 3 couples. It was very cold but the fireplace was very nice and the hot tub was wonderful. Mary Beth and Wade (the caretakers) were very helpful in dealing with a few small issues which came up. Very nice location, and working with Howard (the owner) for the booking was quite easy and he provided a lot of good information about the house and about things to do in the area.
Morning, noon and night you can fine tune your Berkshire vacation to whatever rocks your boat. In one week you will not be able to do it all. Below is a list of some of our favorites. The theatres such as the Berkshire Theatre Group (3), Barrington Stage theatres (2), Williamstown Theatre Festival (2) and Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center year after year deliver and just keep getting better. Shakespeare and Company is a must see (not just Shakespeare - 4). Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival has a huge seasonal assortment of traditional ballet to unreal hip-hop. Tanglewood features the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, the Tanglewood Symphony Orchestra, various chorale groups, guest performances by all genres of musicians, popular concerts by guest performers such as James Taylor. Tanglewood On Parade is my favorite night of the season. There are many afternoon performances on most schedules. The Norman Rockwell, The Clark and the Berkshire museums are worth visiting every season. Try to leave a little time for R&R and enjoy the stars and hot tub on the deck to top off a great day.
