Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6 adults)

Our lake home is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath privately tucked into a large lake lot amongst towering Norway pines on 3rd Crow Wing Lake (southeast of Park Rapids and southwest of Nevis, MN.) With access to 2nd Crow Wing Lake and 4th Crow Wing Lake through channels you can boat and canoe for hours each day.

Enjoy swimming or canoeing. Boating, skiing, tubing and fishing are a perfect way to pass the time while at the cottage. For the fisherman, Third Crow Wing Lake hosts a large variety of fish including Walleye, Northern, Bass, Crappie and Sunfish. Watch the sunset sitting next to the shoreline camp fire. In Park Rapids, Dorset and Nevis you will find plenty of great restaurants and unique shopping spots. The area also offers many interesting and fun attractions, such as Itasca State Park where the Mississippi Headwaters is located, a local Winery, the Heartland Trail (a paved trail, excellent for biking, walking, running or rollerblading through the beautiful nature and countryside). A number of golf courses and ATV and snowmobile trails are also nearby.

The cabin has a large living room equipped with TV, DVD and VCR player. There is a large three-season porch to use for extra sleeping and dining for larger groups. There's a full kitchen with dining room. One bedroom has a queen sized bed and the second bedroom has both a queen and regular sized bed. The main floor bathroom has a tub/shower.

The kitchen is equipped with dishes, glasses, silverware, utensils, pots & pans and serving bowls. There is a microwave, stove, refrigerator, automatic coffee maker, and toaster. All beds are provided with linens, blankets, bedspread and pillows. We also provide kitchen linens and bath towels. We do not supply paper products such as paper plates and napkins but do supply items such as foil, plastic wrap and plastic bags.

The cabin comes with a resin patio table and chairs, Weber grill and dock provided. There is a fire pit next to the lake to enjoy a relaxing evening watching the sunset.

About Vicki and Robert DeVore

Our lake home was purchased as a vacation property for our family to enjoy. At the time of purchase our two daughters were 4 and 10 years of age. We have spent many great family vacations at our lake home, swimming, fishing, tubing and skiing - making great memories. My husband is a carpenter and is from the Nevis area. He has many family members in the area. I am an HR Manager and vacationed in this area every summer with my family when I was growing up. I met my husband while vacationing as a teenager and later when visiting my parents who had retired to the area, reconnected and we were married in 1986. We have and still do enjoy the peace and tranquility at our getaway. Our girls are now 21 and 27. We don't get to the lake home as much as we would like so we began to rent it out in 2012. We hope you and your family will enjoy it as much as we have and that you will be able to enjoy family time that will create great memories.

Vicki and Robert DeVore purchased this house in 2000

Why Vicki and Robert DeVore chose Minnesota

My husband grew up in the Park Rapids/Nevis area and I vacationed in this area.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy many things on this property - it is a large lot and private. We fish both summer and winter. We swim, tube and ski the lake. A trip to town for shopping and a stop at the homemade candy shops is a must every visit. We LOVE the 4th of July celebrations and the fireworks are better than any in the state. Itasca State Park is the origin of the Mississippi and a must see just 40 miles north of the cabin. We are also just 15 minutes from the Heartland Trail for biking and hiking.

Amazing sunsets to complete the perfect getaway spot.

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing property! Complete with everything you might need. Comfy beds, complete kitchen, plenty of table dining space, 2 bathrooms (that I rate far better than rustic), and sunsets beyond belief. We had 6 kayaks and ventured out on the water to catch the beauty of the sunrises as well. Paddled between the lakes to explore and adventure a bit farther out. Rode the bicycle trails from Nevis and had great dining options in both Nevis and Park Rapids. Ventured up to Itasca State Park and enjoyed seeing the Mississippi Headwaters. Enjoyed our time away with family! Vickie always was quick with her responses and we did get to check in early. Great experience!

Great place to stay for a good weekend escape.

Great cabin in a good sized lake. The cabin was comfortable and very clean. Good privacy from neighbors which made for a nice quiet weekend. Owners were able to accommodate small special request which made for a special weekend. Would visit again.

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

It was the perfect getaway to catch up with a long time friend, watch sunsets and relax. It is close to Itasca State Park for day trips, where we enjoyed the hiking trails, the boat tour and eating lunch at Douglas Lodge. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the porch immensely. Due to a family emergency, we had to cut our vacation short. Vicki was most understanding of our circumstances. She was a delight with whom to work.

Nice week. I slept like a log knowing I could get up and go fishing any time I wanted. Everything that is needed is provided. There is plenty of places to go--Park Rapids, Nevis, Walker, Itasca etc. Fishing is actually quite good and for August that is saying a lot. Privacy-distance from neighbors-is excellent. We had a real good time. I would recommend it. It's an easy place to stay--no complications.
