About Michael Brubeck

I am American born and have now been living in Montisi and working here for 14 years and coming here since 1972 when I was five years old. The old podere ( a working farm) was lived in by generations of contadini until two years before my parents bought it in 1972. While restoring the house we wanted to maintain the simplicity and beauty of a historical farmhouse with its hand-hewn doors and manger boards, both keeping and creating a warm and welcoming environment. I still take care of the house and the surrounding olives which I prune in the spring and harvest in the fall making a fantastic olive oil that our area is known for.

Michael Brubeck purchased this farmhouse in 1972

Why Michael Brubeck chose Siena Area

At Il Colombaio di Momo you will find yourself staying in a house which has been our family home for over forty years. In the restoration of il Colombaio we preserved much of it's character and feel of it's origins. With a comfortable open space living room and an ample garden it is a great place to relax and get to know the village of Montisi with it's restaurants and bars. A small and inviting town you'll feel welcomed and experience a little of what small village life is like. If you come at the right time of year you can participate in our town festival, a jousting competition on horseback and all in medieval costume, white truffle festival, olive oil festival, a newborn film festival and more....

Wonderful Tuscan villa with views for multiple couples

  • 5 of 5

This villa was perfect! It has 4 large fully updated bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, as well as many common spaces. The kitchen is a modern cook's dream, and the terrace views are stunning. We practically lived on the outdoor terrace. The owner speaks excellent English and we left feeling that we had made a new friend in Michael, he was so kind. The villa was fully equipped and we didn't lack for anything. The villa is on municipal water which was nice. We enjoyed the vegetables and fruits from the property during our stay. We loved Montisi, everyone was warm and welcoming there. We stayed here with friends and had privacy as well as wonderful times together. I would recommend staying here without any hesitation.

Beautiful Tuscan Home and Setting - Like Living in a Painting

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were guests of the couple staying at the Colombiao di Momo for 3 weeks. As we approached it, we were drawn in by the sight of a charming 17th century farmhouse and its beautiful grounds. The villa’s rustic décor theme exuded old world charm but it had updates where it counted in bathrooms and kitchen - and wi-fi worked fine. We enjoyed dinners on a perfectly situated patio overlooking a magnificent panoramic view of the Tuscan hills. We had a joyous pizza making night using the authentic wood burning pizza oven. We were so relaxed there - we felt we had stepped back in time, to a simpler life, far away from the cares of life. We walked to the quaint village of Montisi once, and another time rode our bikes in. We enjoyed leisurely meandering in & out of the little shops. We also experienced other towns in the area and enjoyed restaurants, shopping, and great views for picture taking… and of course we took in wine tasting. Great fun!

Michael was an exceptional host in every way – so helpful in addressing our every question and making suggestions, and also very knowledgable about the history of the home and area. All in all, an incredibly lovely, functional, well kept villa which more than exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend staying here. We had a magical time under the Tuscan sun!

Amazing Large Tuscanb Villa with Great Views

  • 5 of 5

The moment we arrived, we knew we made the right choice in staying at the Colombiao di Momo. The owner, Michael ( Momo) speaks perfect English, was very accommodating. The villa has plenty of room with large bedrooms and 4 large full baths. We stayed 3 weeks and had friends and family coming during our stay. The large kitchen was perfect for preparing meals using herbs and vegetables from the garden on the property and the outdoor wood fired pizza oven and bbq was well used. We enjoyed the dinning area off the kitchen with stunning views and the "sunset log" . We had a chef, her name was Allesandra come to give a private dinner and a cooking class. The available linen tablecloths and napkins gave our meals a first class feel. Montisi is a beautiful small village and is the perfect location for day trips. After our daily excursions of wine tasting, visiting hilltop villages, taking a balloon ride etc , we always looked forward to coming "home" to this beautiful setting. We also helped Michael harvest olives from the trees around the house which added to our Tuscany experience.

If you choose this villa for your Tuscan Holiday you will be very glad you did.

Amazing Villa first class. Maintained very well.

  • 5 of 5

Very relaxing spectacular sunsets. We enjoyed the herb gardens and picking fresh limes off the tree. The Villa is well maintained it offers all the amenities one would want. Had fun using the wood burning pizza oven. It is close to the town of Montisi which we enjoyed our morning walks through the Olive Groves to get fresh baked goods. You won't be disappointed in renting this Villa.

Heavenly Tuscan vacation !

  • 5 of 5

We were a family group of six adults and two children, and the lovely old house and glorious surroundings worked wonderfully for all of us. In late May and early June, the surrounding meadowland was a field of glowing poppies, and the air was scented by the jasmine that covers one side of the house. The house is peaceful and secluded, with lovely views, and there are many fascinating little hill towns a very short drive away, as well as Siena and Florence within easy reach. Having arrived in this beautiful spot I had no desire to leave to go any further afield than the village of Montisi and would have been quite content to spend the whole two weeks with my books in a lawnchair, enjoying the local food and wine and peaceful surroundings .... but I did love our many mini-excursions to nearby villages, markets, and churches. The house is really well-equipped and has an integrity and quality rarely found in vacation rental homes. Momo was the perfect host and went the extra mile for us with great generosity of spirit. We all hated to leave!
