Villa, 3 BRs, 2.5 Bths, Sleeps 6. St Kitts was NOT IMPACTED by H. Martha or Irma
LOCATION: Turtle Beach, St. Kitts (St. Christophers), Caribbean. Turtle Beach is a 15-20 minute drive from the airport on a beautiful drive south over the mountains of the South East Peninsula, with Atlantic ocean on the left and the Caribbean Ocean on the right.
KEYWORDS: Villa, Ocean View, Infinity edge pool, a/c, quiet, 3 bedrooms, gourmet kitchen, spectacular views, 5-star feedback ratings.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Our new, architecturally-designed home is currently un-named and at one time we were jokingly thinking of naming it “The Black Hole” since we have found ourselves unable to leave the veranda from breakfast time until mid-afternoon. Some days we never left! We’d be reading, talking, eating, sleeping and playing games. The talking part was invariably about what we should do that morning for our activity. Sometimes we would walk the 100 yards down the hill to Turtle Beach and go snorkeling on the reef. If we went out to the left of the reef, we would invariably see two to three green turtles (most likely the reason this quiet bay got its name). If we felt really energetic, we’d jump in the car and drive 5 minutes to Sandy Bank beach and go boogie-boarding.
Our home is situated on a hill above Turtle Beach, on the southernmost tip of St. Kitts, looking across the 2 mile ocean Narrows to Nevis and the 3,000’ Mt. Nevis. The house is angled so it catches the tropical breezes just right. The only sounds one falls to sleep or awakens to are the sounds of nature. We have a two-car parking area off the hill. The wrought iron gates leads you down to the rear open courtyard of tiles, white rounded stone, plantings and an outdoor shower area.
MAIN FLOOR: From the rear courtyard, the French doors open up to the living room area, taking your eyes directly to the 18’ wide glass Nanadoor that opens up to the veranda and the breathtaking views of Mt. Nevis across the Caribbean waters.
Contiguous to the right of the living room is the fully equipped gourmet kitchen. The gas stove/electric oven is located in a center island looking out through another set of French glass doors to the infinity edge pool and across the blue waters to Nevis. Looking back into the kitchen from the pool are five teak high-stools facing the kitchen bar. The underside of the bar is faced with local natural stone as is the wall around the window sink that looks into the rear courtyard. All stonework accented throughout our home and the walls outside were completed by Sandy Point, the islands premier stone mason. The laundry and powder room are also on this floor. A TV/music center joins the living area with the kitchen (bring your i-Pods). The remaining accents of quartz counter tops, Florida porcelain tile (throughout our home), teak furniture by Kingly-Bate and vaulted ceilings with three fans complete the main living area.
The five-panel glass Nanadoor slides open in concertina fashion to the left, leaving an expanse of indoor/outdoor living between living room, veranda and sun deck (this is our black hole I described earlier). Several lounge chairs and other seating areas are located on the veranda. We always move our 6-8 person teak dining table and chairs outside for daytime games, reading, and evening dinners under the stars. We used stainless steel railings around the veranda and pool to minimize disruption to the eyes as you take in the views.
The master bedroom has a queen bed, A/C, vaulted ceilings and fan, and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower/window looking out to Nevis. The master bedroom on this floor with its own balcony, and the guest bedrooms down stairs, all have this wonderful view. A large walk-in closet off the master bedroom stores sheets, towels and supplies while still giving space for clothing and suitcases, etc.
DOWNSTAIRS: Two guest bedrooms have either a queen or two extra-long twins beds (can convert to one King) and share a bathroom and walk-in shower. Both have A/C, ceiling fans. Guests can exit the downstairs hallway to the quiet veranda and take in the views by the landscaped garden.
Hurricane shutters are on all windows for both security when our home is vacated, but also for those who can’t abide to be woken up by the splendor of sunrise! Like many islands, power and water outages are not unheard of, so we have equipped our home with a liquid propane generator large enough to automatically cope with all electrical house needs. Mains water comes to the house through an 800gal cistern, so even with a water break, the house supply should not be uninterrupted. For our peace-of-mind, and yours, we have a 24/7 external video surveillance camera system.
The villa is maintained beautifully by an on-island Property Manager (also our Project Manager for construction) who knows the building very well. He can be contacted in the rare event you have any building issues. A gardener and pool boy will service the property before your arrival as will our wonderful housekeeper, who will provide cleaning and laundry service before your arrival. Additional services can be arranged directly through the building manager.

About Nick Guise
Cathy comes from the New England area in America and Nick was born in England and came over to America in the early 80s. They both work in the Biotechnology field which is where they met in the mid 90s and have been happily married, and avid travelers ever since.
Nick Guise purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Nick Guise chose Basseterre
We first visited St. Kitts with friends in 2001 and stayed at the Reggae Bar & Grill on Turtle Beach which closed at 6pm every night, leaving us upstairs in the apartment to the sounds of the ocean waves, the rustle of palm leaves and other nature-tunes that the tropical breeze brought. Of the 2-3,000 acres of land of the South East Peninsula, we were likely part of a night population of 15-20 people! A few years later, our friends built at Turtle Beach and for a number of years we benefitted by their hospitality. We realized after our first visit that, just like you see on the glossy pages of travel magazines, we had found “our” paradise, and made our own future plans to build.
What makes this Villa unique
We love to come here with no schedule in mind; we have enough of those in our work. If you need a place to kick back and relax, indulging yourself in doing nothing, or hiking, diving and being active, then our home and island will quickly get you in the mood. There are 3-4 beach restaurants within 3-5 minutes drive, each offering a little different style/quality of food. Sugar cane used to be the main industry of St. Kitts and its only been in the last 5-6 years that tourism has really started. So St. Kitts is not like most of the other well established, highly populated Caribbean islands. There is still plenty of serene, unspoilt areas to visit, as well as night life along the beaches of Frigate Bay and the hotel areas. 1/2 hour ferry rides get you over to Nevis to explore by bike, taxi or car.

No better place to be
I can't say enough about how great this place was. Our daughters, ages 4 and 7, loved playing on the patio and in the yard. We walked down to the beach every morning. The restaurants nearby were our favorites in the island (Reggae Bar and Spice Mill). It was about 15 minute drive into town, but very easy. Dwaune was fantastic, from the rental car to advice on places to go, he was there for anything we needed. Hands down our fav vacation spot!
Thank you for sharing your memories from staying at our home in February and how your daughters loved playing on our grounds and the local beaches; plenty to keep them occupied, right! Dwayne was our Project Manager when we built our home and his knowledge of the house and island makes him a perfect Project Manager. We are happy to hear his rental car company makes our guests lives so much easier at pick up/drop off at the airport. We'd love to have you back.
Extraordinary home for a relaxing vacation
This home is even more beautiful in person than on the website. We spent a wonderful and relaxing week there. The neighborhood is quiet and just a short walk to two lovely beaches. Birds, goats, and even monkeys visited the yard daily, adding to the charm. And Dwayne, the property manager, was extremely helpful. We rented our car from him as well, which saved us quite a bit of time at arrival and departure. We hope to return soon!
Glad to hear you had a relaxing time at our home. Several guests have commented that the VRBO photo's do not do justice to the views when you get there. I wish I was a professional photographer and had lighting equipment, but at the end of the day, if it adds that extra "wow" factor upon arrival, then "its all good, man" as the locals say :)
Thank you for your review.
doesn't get better than this....
'Seas the Moment' home in St. Kitts is one of the greatest places we have ever been to on Earth...it is every thing you could ask for in a tropical getaway......
restaurants Spice Mill (more elegant, still relaxed... best Mahi Mahi ever) and Reggae Beach Bar (more casual, great burgers) within walking distance (or literally 5 minute drive) .....
there is a quiet and coral filled private beach within walking distance just down the hill (easy snorkeling there too, just walk out 20 yrs... I saw amazing fish and a ray while snorkeling !)....beautiful plant life on the property, monkeys too = they are so cool and mind their business...hermit crabs, geckos etc..... all with peace and quiet and a luxury infinity pool.... this is a perfect place.....the pool was clean and cool and looked out to the sea....
the view from the porch and living room is just stunning...the little bird Bordeaux I learned from Nick, was so cute having breakfast with us each day as we greeted the sunrise each day... the porch is the heart of the home; the view never got old, especially as a blizzard hit our home in Pennsylvania... while I stared out and watched the clouds roll by in 80 degree perfection .....it was inspirational and gorgeous and relaxing every time you looked out at the sea.... sailboats, pelicans..... and amazing sunrises.....
Owners Nick and Kathy have created a paradise.....clean and ready to go, Dwayne was ready to help if needed...but we didn't need anything, we shopped, cooked in most nights and lived the life.....my wife and I were very happy in the home, we loved it.....we renewed our vows on the dock too , a 12 happy yrs ....it was a perfect week we will always remember.....5 stars for sure.
That's very kind of Shannon to write such a detailed review; it gives prospective guests in the idea a wonderful idea of what to expect at our home.
Far from the Madding Crowd
This was our families first visit to St Kitts. We usually visit St John, but because of the recent double whammy hurricanes, we ventured further away. Seas the Moment was just stunning! The views, the neighborhood! We loved every minute of being at this house and found it hard to leave every night to join our friends who were staying at Timothy Beach. If you crave peace and wish to be far away from the bustle of town this is your very own slice of heaven. Yes, there are mosquitos. Yes there is debris and sea weed on the beach but there is also bug repellent and you can fulfill a community service by bringing a trash bag with you and help tidy the beach. We loved watching the sunrise every morning from the deck. We also enjoyed being visited daily by a little bird who would sing for us and eat crumbs off the table. The kestrels were lovely to watch as well. I wish I had brought binoculars. Snorkeling was a challenge as the water was rough for the majority of our visit, but once it was calm we were able to venture out into the bay and saw two spotted eagle rays. Coconut Farm is near by and they have a variety of fresh produce which you can purchase on Saturdays. Reggae Beach is a short drive if you crave sitting with large groups of cruise boat people or you can wait until the late afternoon when the crowds clear out and sip a beverage at Spice Mill and have most of the beach to yourself! Dwayne, the property manager was great to work with and was ready and waiting at the airport on our arrival. He led us to a grocery store and waited in the parking lot for us to pick up supplies. He also popped in during the week to check in and take the trash away. I wish I could freeze time and keep this area of St Kitts just as it is, in all it's dirt road funky beach shack glory. Fantastic family vacation! Thank you Nick and Kathy for allowing us access to your oasis!
Personal slice of paradise
If you’re interested in a tropical escape with incredible views, this property is for you. Turtle Beach is off the beaten path (don’t let the partial dirt road worry you) and away from the bustling port that ushers in cruise ships daily. There are several restaurants and beach bars on this side of the island that could easily keep you preoccupied for the extent of your stay. You’ll want to rent a car because the grocery stores and many restaurants are closer to “town.” The property manager, Dwayn, was flexible and helpful, and the property itself was clean and spacious. The pictures truly don’t do it justice. Five stars. We’ll be back.
Wake up to sunrise on the water, cloud covered Nevis volcano and tropical breezes. Steps away to clear Blue waters of the Caribbean. Wild monkeys and goats for entertainment. The villa was all as advertised no disappointment. Didn’t have to leave the property, so relaxing. No TV all week but that was our choice. Local people are very helpful and nice. Suggest Reggae Bar 3 minutes away. Ask for Myah, the best waitress you can find.
Will make a return.
David and Wanda F.
We are so happy to hear of yet another 5 star review. David and Wanda seem to have slipped into the total relaxing atmosphere of the area, and like us, pinch ourselves each morning. We'd love to have you back!
DOING NOTHING IS A GREAT ACTIVITY THAT WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND IN FACT OUR OWN POOL AREA CAN BE HARD TO GET AWAY FROM!
