About Kirk Bertsch

We have lived in the Black Hills all of our lives. This is the best place to relax and enjoy all of the activities during both summer and winter months. I own my own insurance and financial business and build custom cabins on Terry Peak in my sparetime.

Kirk Bertsch purchased this lodge in 2013

Why Kirk Bertsch chose Black Hills

I chose this location on Terry Peak because of the beautiful views it has to offer and is only one block from the chairlift. You are only 4 miles from the nearest town of Lead and only 10 minutes from the famous town of Deadwood that also a major gambling town. You are only one hour from the famous Mount Rushmore Memorial.

What makes this lodge unique

You will enjoy a brand new lodge that has all of the amenities you need for year-round fun. The 3,300 sq ft of area will give you room to relax and enjoy time with families and friends.

Gorgeous Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This place is beautiful. We had five couples come along and we all had a very good time. Two couples rented snowmobiles and went trail riding in the area, and that comes highly recommended. The other couples went skiing/snowboarding at Terry Peak, which is right next to this cabin. The location is great if you plan on skiing/snowboarding. The hot tub was great, and we had a lot of fun with Foosball and ping pong tables. All of the beds were nice and the master has a very nice spa tub in it's bathroom. We didn't use the garage, but there is one attached, I believe a two stall. The ping pong table also had a pool table underneath. If you want to go into Deadwood or Lead, cab services will come out to pick you up from here, and you don't have to worry about having a DD. The owner is a very good communicator and responds promptly to e-mails with any questions you may have. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Owner's Response: Thanks James for your review. We are happy that you had a great time and enjoyed your stay at our cabin. Great memories is what it is all about when you go on a vacation. The cabin with its 3300 square feet of finished area gives large gatherings of friend and family lots of room to enjoy. It is in a great location and close to skiing and snowmobiling in the winter and hiking and atv adventures and fishing in the summer. It is close to all attractions and only 10 minutes to historic Deadwood. We hope you come back and visit us again as we have three other cabins just like this one you stayed at in the same area if you want to try a different one thanks..owners Kirk & Julie

Beautiful, clean, spacious home

  • 5 of 5

We arrived @ night so it was difficult to locate the home --> would be very helpful to have the address on a sign out front near the road.

Owner's Response: Hi Mary, thanks for your review, we will make a better sign out front so it will be easier to read. Since there is no street lights it is hard to see number addresses at night. Glad you had a great time and hope you visit us again, thanks...Kirk

Amazing Lodge!

  • 5 of 5

I don't have anything negative to say about this property. It is beautiful and well maintained. Our kids didn't want to leave, the just wanted to stay and play. I only have a few suggestions. 1) put the house number by the road so people can find it in the dark 2) get light timers or solar powered lights for the front porch, coming back in the dark, again, difficult 3) the mattress in master bedroom is really bad, this was the last stop of a 2 week vacation and the bed messed up my back 4) for folks that aren't familiar with the terrain or the area, be a bit more clear with the location GPS wants to take you to Whitetail Drive - NOT the same place

Owner's Response: Thanks Gerald for the review, there is a house number out by the road on a tree that you must of missed seeing. It is dark at night out in the woods but that is a good suggestion to put solar lights near the front porch to help with lighting at night and will look into that or you can pit the ouside lights on before you leave if you know you are coming back at night. I have never had anyone complain about not finding the house as we have sent driving directions with our cabin information ahead of time. I have never had anybody complain about the master bedroom bed but will look into that for our future guests. Thanks for your comments, owners...Kirk & Julie
