Whitetail cabin is hidden in the woods with all of the comforts of home in the heart of nature and just minutes from the sea. The home is located at the end of a private road, surrounded by a beautiful wooded forest, filled with an abundance of wildlife. If you are looking for your own private piece of the island to enjoy, you will love it. To me, getting away from the crowds is crucial to decompress and really enjoy life, at this location that is possible. The location is private while still being only about 5 minutes from Acadia National Park and about 10 minutes from down town Bar Harbor, perfect! The kayaking in this area is absolutely fantastic, one of the best ways to experience the coast and lakes. There are couple of kayak rental and tour companies on the island, we highly recommending adding a paddle to your must do list!

Lovely House in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

My hiking friend and I loved our stay in this house. Though it is near town and the national park it feels like you are staying out in the woods. The house had everything one would need to be comfortable. When a little issue came up with the door lock, the owners responded very promptly and fixed the problem right away. I have stayed in several vacation houses, and this might be the cleanest one that I have ever rented. I appreciated that since I'm particular about this issue. I would stay there again if ever I get to visit that part of the country in the future.

A week of tranquility

  • 5 of 5

What a relaxing comfort to spend a week in this adorable home, surrounded by woods and nature. I will remember always the goldfinch at the bird feeder. The house was everything it was described as. One instantly felt at home. The attractions of the area - beaches, shops, restaurants and, of course, Acadia National Park, are just a few minutes away. Yet when you are "home" you are totally removed from it all. It was a perfect vacation retreat.

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four recently visited Bar Harbor and felt right at home. Marsha has provided all the necessities to have a worry free vacation. The home was very clean, fully stocked and had plenty of space for all of us to feel comfortable. We loved being able to come back and relax in between excursions and not having to eat out for every meal. It feels like you are in your own peaceful corner of the world, yet you are so close to Acadia and the town of Bar Harbor. The kids loved the nearby miniature golf and we loved the homemade ice cream at Udder Heaven. The beauty of the area is just spectacular and there is so much to do like hiking, swimming and kayaking. You know when the kids don't want to leave, that it was a great vacation. We thank Marsha and Will for their hospitality!

Comfortable, Clean and fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

Family of three, two young senior citizens and our adult son, enjoyed our vacation time in a very peaceful and cheerful home away from home. The kitchen was well stocked to meet our needs for our home cooked meals. The house is well maintained and very comfortable to relax outside on the deck and watch the birds feeding from the feeder. The upper level was perfect for my son because he had his own bathroom and privacy. Overall we were very pleased with the location, the beauty of the woods surrounding the home and the comfort and warmth the house provided to us. Also a special treat was watching a raccoon trying to rob the food from the bird feeder. If we were to return to Maine, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Plenty of room and close to everything

  • 5 of 5

We loved the spaciousness of this house for our six-person (three couples) family. It was the perfect place to cook dinner each evening and relax in between adventures. Having access to laundry meant we could go home feeling more ready to re-enter real life. Marsha and Will were gracious hosts. Maine may be a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us, but should we come back, we'd stay here again in a minute.

Our favorite place to be

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this house. It was absolutely perfect. It was clean, incredibly comfortable and lovely. We enjoyed many hikes, wildlife, meals and wonderful experiences in Bar Harbor. It was wonderful to come back to this home during the day for a break and to get a nice sleep feeling the fresh Maine breeze through the open windows. If you want your own space with all the necessities this is the location for you. You won't be disappointed. :)
