Great summer stay!
This cottage is perfect for a summer getaway at the lake. My family (including 3 young children) really enjoyed our stay. The lake is beautiful, the neighborhood is quiet, and the cottage is clean and well-kept. The dock is perfect for lounging, boat watching, and docking a small boat. Both the outdoor patio and dock had plenty of tables and chairs, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the lake. The owner is very attentive to questions and made himself available if any issues were to arise (they didn't!). We are already considering our stay for next year! Highly recommended!
Wonderful family week!
We had such a wonderful time at Kettle Cove on Sebago Lake. The cottage was tastefully decorated and there was easy access to many amenities. It is just a short drive to shopping in either Freeport or Portland, and there are many nice restaurants to enjoy. There are also quite a few Craft Beer breweries in close proximity. The weather was lovely most of the week, so that was a great plus. We would love to stray here again.
Make sure to get proof of condition of property before starting your stay
As far as the property itself it is in an amazing location in Kettle Cove. That I give five stars too; however, the property manager Dave and I have a very serious disagreement. He claims that during my stay I broke a laundry list of items that were already broken upon entering. I myself have rented out my own house before so I know what it's like to be a property manager to some extent. I was actually in the process compiling a list of the same items he claims I damaged for his knowledge. He went as far as to say that during my stay I had damaged a coffee table so badly it needs to be refinished. In addition he claims, "coasters were provided", so that damage is on me. I am guilty of not using a coaster, but to say I ruined a table in one week's stay from not using a coaster is ridiculous. Honestly, I didn't get a good look at the table prior to taking ownership for the week and honestly wish I took a detailed video after this experience with Dave and this property.
I even went as far as to call Dave before pulling the trigger on the rental to communicate that it was two couples that would stay during the week and that a few friends from each couple would be up during the day. It has come to my attention that the neighbors did not feel that the number of people visiting was satisfactory (total of 10 visiting during some days - while respecting parking limitations - and total of 6 at most sleeping for the night. They communicated to Dave that I had too many guests (something I was very upfront about from the beginning for this reason - not wanting to upset locals)
To summarize the property is gorgeous but it has a few minor flaws. For instance, the lights in the kitchen randomly overheat and shut down. - Make sure you have notated that so you get your deposit back is all I'm saying.
I will not rent a property from this property manager again. And I'm not saying that you shouldn't. Just make sure you pull out your smartphone and you take a detailed video of the properties condition because it seems like Dave will find any reason to not give you your deposit back.
Sorry to here Chris does not want to take responsibility for damages that were caused during his stay. The oak wood coffee table has 3 large water stains, the refrigerator looks as if someone kicked the inside of the door and damaged the rails, and one mattress pad was ripped.
He has canceled his American Express payment for the deposit and I will not spend the time to fight this over $250.
Chris agrees that the house is 5 star and was very clean in his review and text message to me when checking in.
Chris claims that I keep deposits, the truth is, this is the first time in 4 years I tried to take a deposit for damages.
I would never rent to Chris again.
Perfect place to stay!
We stayed here for a week with our two young boys and it was everything we could have hoped for. The cottage is updated and extremely clean. The view was amazing, and with the house being in a no wake zone, it was quiet and peaceful. The cottage is close to everything we like to do in the Sebago Lake area but still feels in the middle of no where so you can forget about life for a bit! Dave was so helpful and gave us all of the information we needed, there was never any confusion and we felt very welcome. I would highly recommend renting this cottage!
The perfect lakeside retreat!
We were so excited as we drove down the road and pulled up at #122. This quaint lakeside home was the perfect spot to disconnect from our busy lives for a week!
I was concerned about having the dirt road between the house and the beach area, but there was very little traffic going by and those that did drove very slowly.
The house is immaculate, and very well kept. Having the dock and beach just steps away was amazing.
We cannot wait to return to Kettle Cove next summer!
Traditional Maine camp feel with modern conveniences
I've been camping at Sebago Lake State Park for the past 30+ years and this was my first time renting a camp. I chose this location for it's proximity to the State Park as I had family staying there and wanted to be a short boat ride away. It worked out wonderfully. The location of the camp is perfect. Convenient to Windham, ME with all of the stores you'd ever need but yet you still feel like you're "away from it all." It's also a short drive over to the Causeway on Long Lake. This camp is in Kettle Cove (of Sebago Lake) right across from the marina with a boat launch nearby. If you're bringing your boat, this is a really great benefit. The lake can get rough but not in this cove. Other great features were the large dock, small sandy beach, fire pit, grill and outdoor patio area. We weren't inside much but the living room, dining area and master bedroom had great views of the lake. The second full bath and washer and dryer were nice to have as well. Although there was no AC, the attic fan kept a nice lake breeze and kept it comfortable inside. Most importantly, the camp was clean. We felt right at home and really enjoyed our stay. We look forward to coming back next year!
