While the house is a little dated, that didn't stop us from having A BLAST! The pool and pool heater worked wonderfully. The house was very clean, which really is the most important thing. And we enjoyed a brand new washer and dryer and outdoor dining table. The canal/ bay access was perfect for our boat. And the owner is great to work with. Thanks a bunch!
We had a very relaxing time in Islamorada. We arrived on New Years Eve and enjoyed the evening as a family in the large living room playing games and ringing in 2017. There was plenty of room for the 7 of us. Our teenage girls liked sharing the basement bedroom and bathroom and having their own separate space. We prepared many meals in the kitchen and ate many meals around the dining table. Morning coffee on the upper deck while enjoying our private view of the dock, bay and mangroves was a relaxing start to our day. One morning we were lucky enough to have a mother and baby Manatee visit us at the dock for at least an hour. It was an amazing sight. Also the many iguanas visited and sunned themselves throughout the mangroves and dock. We rented a kayak from Robbie's and ventured out from the dock around the area, seeing more wildlife each time. The pool was the perfect size for all of us, although the deck surrounding the pool needs some repairs.
It was a perfect waterfront oasis for our first family vacation in the Florida Keys.
The house was very comfortable for the 7 family and friends that went with us on this vacation. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms arranged so that each family could have a comfortable bed. The pool was a great addition. Jan was exceptionally nice to work with answering a few questions that we had. We definitely would stay there again! My granddaughter's favorite "attraction" were the iguanas! The location is convenient to restaurants, shopping & fishing trips.
My 2 brothers and their wives and myself and my wife shared this house for a week. The house is very large with 4 bedrooms; we only used 3. The grounds are very nice and secluded which is what we were looking for.
Some minor repairs on the decking are needed, but not impede us in any way. We did not have a key to the laundry facilities downstairs which was most likely an oversight because we did not have a key for that locked door.
Overall, the stay was just what we wanted; seclusion and privacy with lots of room.
What started out as a girls only get-away quickly became a couples retreat because our husbands refused to stay home. It was a wise decision on their part. We spent seven glorious days in Paradise. The weather was perfect. The house could use some TLC, but it met all of our needs. Four couples had enough space to be alone and to come together for group fun. The neighborhood is quiet and secluded but just a minute away from the road into town. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. The views from the back are spectacular. We spent hours on the deck just looking at the water and mangroves. The pool was warm and wonderful and got plenty of use. Because there are so many great restaurants close by, we didn't cook often but the kitchen had everything that we needed. It was hard to leave and we are all looking forward to coming back.
Our party arrived in the evening to find this home spotless and welcoming. The 3 upstairs bedrooms accommodated our party well. We were able to get a glimpse of the beautiful pool on the evening of our arrival which increased our desire to take a dip the next morning. We found the location of the pool to be ideal, in the Shade to avoid risks of excessive sun exposure, but heated to be ultimately comfortable. The neighborhood was a quiet, residential area that was exactly what we were hoping to find. The area around mile marker 75 was removed from most shopping, which did make obtaining provisions for 2 week stay challenging.
Everyone in our group is a foodie to some degree or another; we found the kitchen to be poorly equipped for extensive home cooking, or for any complicated food undertaking. It is perfectly suitable for heating up leftovers from some of the excellent restaurants in the area or grilling on the gas BBQ outside on the wraparound deck.
Beds were comfortable. Our extended family of 8 adults and an infant had more than enough room for privacy. The large screen LCD tv in the living room allowed us to stay current with our favorite shows. Wifi performed well. We had some minor issues early in our stay and Jan was quick to respond and see the problems through to resolution. The property is showing signs of aging but important elements of the property are acceptable. The pool was outstanding. The dock would accommodate a good sized boat (we didn't have a boat to dock).
I think the value of this property is excellent and our party would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Located nearby is Theater of the Sea and Islamorada Tennis Club with weekly memberships available, and a local bike path. The house is located on Lower Matecumbe Key which is a predominately residential island. The street that the house is located on is considered one of the area's most prestigious addresses according to 'The Insiders Guide to the Florida Keys and Key West' by Shearer, Toppino and Ware.
