Illinois Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

KINDLY NOTE: Waterpark passes are not included with this unit. Day passes may be purchased at the resort. Please confirm with the resort that the waterpark is available during your requested dates. While we welcome families, for adult-only gatherings all guests must be at least 25 years of age (no proms, college parties, etc.).

Located in Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort, our newly remodeled cabin features over 2,800 square feet of woodland luxury wedged only minutes between the breathtaking trails and waterfalls of Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks.

Accommodating up to 12 people, our building is tucked away on a private cul-de-sac backing to a wildlife preservation. The knotty pine great room features soaring ceilings, and is open to the well-stocked, fully-applianced kitchen and dining area. Upstairs is a private master bedroom with vaulted ceiling, fireplace, whirlpool tub, and separate bathroom. Two additional oversized bedrooms are located in the lower level, including a second master bedroom with two queen size beds, fireplace, whirlpool tub, and separate bathroom. The third bedroom boasts two sets of bunks, each with a twin upper and queen lower bed. Another full bathroom and laundry room with full-sized washer/dryer can be found in the lower level.

Perhaps the best feature of our cabin is its location in the secluded westernmost section of the resort, making a perfect retreat after a long day of hiking. Spend some time relaxing on the deck while taking in the many sights and sounds of nature. It’s the perfect environment to unwind, enjoy, and make lasting memories.

About The Owner

My husband and I truly love the Starved Rock area. Both of us like running, so there’s nothing like stepping out our door onto some of Illinois’ most coveted trails. We are also avid cyclists and enjoy being only moments away from the I&M trail system, and about 30 minutes from the Hennepin Canal. I also enjoy birding, which keeps me plenty busy given the area’s diverse eco-systems. And can’t forget to mention the local golf is great.

Why The Owner chose Illinois

Starved Rock is the perfect weekend getaway for us. While the trails allure most of us, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone: horseback riding, canoeing, boating, fishing, star gazing, or just taking time to relax with friends and family. We love the local shopping, so be sure to stop by the quaint little town of Utica which is full of charm. Try a tasting at one of two wine shops and then pick up some gourmet popcorn or cupcakes. Afterwards, don’t forget to stop by Duffy’s for a great burger.

What makes this cabin unique

Since we're nature buffs, there was no better location for us than to be tucked in the back of the resort with the wildlife preservation as our backdrop. Lounging on the deck is perfect for relaxing moments. Grab a cup of coffee, close your eyes, and listen to nature’s symphony. There’s nothing like it.

2016 Starved Rock Family Adventure...

  • 5 of 5

The twelve of us had such a great few days staying at your cabin. Our age range was from 4 years old up to 68. Each and everyone has a special memory from the beautiful setting to the wonderful ice cold air conditioning. We will be visiting frequently since we found this gem at the end of the road. Cudos to owner Sue for making our journey so memorable.

Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights at this property and found it to be a wonderful place for large parties to relax for a weekend. The kitchen is well stocked with supplies, there are ample beds, and the location is in walking distance of the state park. In particular the property manager was very responsive to our requests.

Best Ever for Groups

  • 5 of 5

This was a last minute reservation because of an uncontrollable situation at our regular place. The owner was very very accomodating and the place was perfect. We were scrapbooking all weekend and there was plenty of room. The sleeping accomodations were excellent. I would definately go here again.

Secluded and wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful family gathering and wedding was held at this beautiful and spacious unit. The owners couldn't have been more gracious and easy to work with! I love a spot where instructions are emailed ahead, information is available upon arrival and the unit is better than expected! I heartily recommend this quiet unit in this bustling family resort.

Great stay with big group

  • 5 of 5

House was impeccably taken care of; kitchen with full apparatus, inumerous pots and pans (even for a group of 12 people).

Unfortunately we didn't get more snow! :(

exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a cool place for a get-together for our group of lifelong friends, all of whom recently had milestone birthdays. We needed something classy, comfortable, and spacious and I booked the cabin after investigating several in the area. We were skeptical that it could be as perfect as the VRBO site described it to be, but it exceeded our expectations. We found it to be spotless, well-maintained, and equipped with everything we needed. The comfort and woodsy ambiance trumped the absence of wi-fi or hundreds of tv channels. Bring some wine, your favorite dvd's and some music cd's and player and relax in front of the fireplace in the Great Room. If you can tear yourself away, it's close enough to starved rock and mathiessen for hiking, or to utica for cute shops and good food. The owner was quick to respond to any and all of our questions or concerns. we had a great time and highly recommend this cabin.
