About Terry and Mary

Terry was born to the ranch and this life. He and I run this Ranch as a couple, and make a good team..but without our newest Lakeland Terrier, miss Eskwyre's Lancashire Rose, our 2 cattle dogs: Rudiger and Giesela, who are pepper and salt Natural Giant schnauzer imports, and the Grande Dam, Foxy....and the rest of the critters, we would be pretty boring. Our goats keep us busy, as well as our elk and gee, our custom hay business and these cabins, and horses and cattle, and life. Whew. Glad when winter comes.

Terry and Mary purchased this cabin in 1898

Why Terry and Mary chose Garfield

our cabin is historical and special. A glimpse of real ranch life is fascinating to others, we have found. Please relax and unwind up here, we welcome you.

What makes this cabin unique

We are so close to the hot springs, or our local's hot pots, as we call them, and really love the privacy and the solitude that we can offer to the world. we are minutes away from world class rock climbing as well, and have had climbers as far away as germany stay here for weeks. Please let us show you the elk pen cabin as well as this one, and NOW we are going underground! whooo hooo...never a dull moment here!

Beautiful accommodations, Super hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time on the ranch. Perfect accommodations for our family of 4. The kitchen had everything we could need including some staple spices, etc for our meals. There was so much room to roam and so much to see. Mary and Terry were very friendly and helpful and we LOVED having Foxy (the dog) keep us company. Would recommend this to anyone looking for some down time away from the hustle and bustle. We especially loved all of the wildlife!

Peaceful and beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

We were a gang of 5 friends who were looking for a different sort of accommodation experience rather than a usual hotel stay during our trip in Colorado. And we found this wonderful cabin in homeaway website and luckily it was available on our travel dates. Unfortunately, we were more than a bit late to arrive on our first day, but really thankful to Mary and Terry who were such a wonderful hosts and they did make sure the beds were all put up so that we could crash in as soon as we arrived. And for the breakfast, we were allowed to borrow some of the freshly laid chicken eggs. Just behind the cabin, you can see the goats grazing in a lush green meadow, elks in the next paddocks and also cattle if you follow a little bit further up the road. The network connectivity might be a little less as expected, as this is a cabin located slightly away from the main roads. But who doesn't want to stay away from the hustle of the world once in a while. We loved it and am glad we made this choice. The cabin was a comfy, old style wooden built one and has all the required amenities for a comfortable stay. Last but not the least, the pet dog of Mary and Terry - Foxy, she was so friendly that she accompanied me for a little hike towards the small hill right opposite the cabin. :) . We hope to visit on a next time , maybe during the fall season. Will wait and see. ;)

Perfect getaway with pets!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay, though it was cut short due to a change in our schedules. Mary is a lovely host! The cabin is well equipped and cozy - bring some of your own books, games, and non-electronics and digital detox for a weekend! The internet was spotty and slow at best. We would recommend planning on being disconnected - it's such a nice place to visit, why ruin it with your cell phone. :)

This cabin was a real treat to stay at!!!

  • 5 of 5

Terry and Mary are two of the nicest people you will ever meet! The cabin was a real treat to stay at. It was clean, cozy and the kids had a blast! The kids really enjoyed the goats, wild burros, elk and all the family pets of Mary and Terry, especially Foxy, the 15 year old Jack Russell that loved hanging with the kids! I really hope that we will be able to make another visit next summer!!

Whitewater Rafting and Horseback Riding for the ultimate day in the Mountains, we call it the paddle and saddle program, call us to see the discounts if you do both !!!

ALSO, we enjoy snow shoeing in the winter, with plenty of hills to climb or sled down off of. We are the only place on the earth where you stay right next to our elk herd. Listen to the whistles and bugles in the fall, and watch our speckled babies in the spring. Our birds and wildlife are protected here on the Ranch, and we have many exotic species that stop over here for safety and solitude. Do it yourself, ...nothing to chirp or whistle artificially. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Unwind and enjoy our cabins. ..another one being built on top of our world. complete with yoga glassed in studio. so cool.
