The living room is in the front of the building, with good light and a large comfortable sofa. There is a queen-sized airbed and bed linens stored in the living room closet that can be used in this room, comfortably accommodating up to four guests in the unit. The apartment is newly carpeted with hardwood kitchen floors.
If available, you can combine this house with the Pierce Place Lower unit and double your occupancy to eight.
The Pierce Street house is conveniently located in the Northern end of the historic Fillmore District. Nearby upper Fillmore Street is notable for chic boutiques and trendy restaurants. Travel south along Fillmore and within 10 minutes you will enjoy the remnants of the Jazz era complete with nightclubs, theaters, and restaurants. It’s five easy city blocks to Japantown, with its own small shops, varied restaurants and the excellent Sundance Kabuki movie theater.
Be sure to visit Alta Plaza Park just two blocks to the north. With its sprawling views of the bay and city skyline, as well as a fully equipped playground, it's no wonder this park is a popular hangout for young parents and their children. Equally attractive to pet owners: The first Sunday of every month is informally known as "Pug Day." Weather permitting, up to 50 pooches and their owners congregate at the north end of this off-leash park during the afternoon for a giant play date.

I have rented with VRBO four or five times and have always had a good experience until now. My 18 year old son and I arrived from the east coast in the evening to find that this apartment did not have a pull out sofa bed as described, nor did the TV work. After contacting the manager, I was told that no, the unit didn't have a sofa bed but that there was an air mattress that we could inflate in the closet. After doing so and finding that the full-sized air mattress had a leak, I was unable to get in touch with the manager again, so my son slept on the couch. After calling again the next morning, the manager said that he would send someone over within the hour to deliver a new air mattress and fix the TV. After leaving for the day, we arrived back at the apartment at 4:30 pm to find that neither had happened. After two more phone calls, someone did come and dropped off a twin air mattress and fixed the cable. So my 6' tall son had to sleep on a twin mattress for the duration of the trip. The keys did not fit the basement laundry room, so it took another afternoon to get a new set of keys, when we discovered that it is a coin-operated machine, also not as described. The apartment has dingy, marred walls that need a fresh coat of paint, or a good washing at the least. The manager, while courteous, never apologized for any problem that we had or offered any remuneration. The key must be picked up and dropped off in an entirely different neighborhood that is a good $10 to $15 cab ride each way. After our return home, I realized that I had actually rented the lower unit of this building. I have no idea how I was switched to the upper unit with no notification. I am trying to contact the manager of Red Awning, which is the company that manages the building but have not heard back. It is in a great location in Pacific Heights, but this is the first VRBO property I have rented that made me wish that I had stayed in a hotel.
