Debi Ireland purchased this cottage in 2010
We have been living and riding horses in this rural corner of San Diego County for nearly 10 years and just love the beauty of this place and being so close to nature but only 40 miles from downtown San Diego. We are able to ride our horses from our property through the Hellhole Canyon preserve and the BLM land that backs right into our property.
The original owner took almost 10 years to construct the Pueblo and it is made almost entirely of poured concrete. This unique habitat had not been in use for many years and after purchasing the property in 2010, Debi decided to create a unique living space for others to enjoy as well as ourselves.
Living in this area provides the opportunity for star-gazing, hiking, trail riding, exploring the back country and observing birds and other small wildlife. The Pueblo is close enough to San Diego to enjoy a day at the beach, the San Diego Zoo, Mission Bay, or any other of San Diego's wonderful attractions not to mention there are 4 casinos within 15 miles of The Pueblo. The Safari Park is but a 30 minute drive from our property!
We are only 20 miles from the Palomar Mountain observatory!
My hubby and I had an amazing time at the Publio! we loved that the kitchen and living space was separate, loved the hot tub and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area... We even had some of the 'locals' (horses that is) come and say Hi! Wish I could give more than 5 stars because this place was definitely worth it!
Just what we needed! A little gem tucked away in the canyons that offered true relaxation.
Had all the amenities and nice touches one could ask for.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
We stayed at the casita for Feburary and March of this year. It was everything we had imagined. Dark sky, exquisite valley and mountains quiet, private, hiking and walking trails. Debbie and Greg are the perfect hosts meeting any inquiry or request immediately. We will be returning this coming winter and would recommed the property.
We booked the casita for February and March of this year. The property was everything it was advertised as and more. Total quiet, dark sky, beautiful valley and mountains, lots of trails for hiking. Debbie and Greg went out of there way to provide us with every convenience that we wanted for our stay, they are the perfect hosts. We are looking forward to returning next year. We would highly recommend this property.
Escondido is close by as is San Diego and Oceanside. Wineries, Observatory, Safari Park, whale watching, spas and the list goes on. There is very comprehensive list at the casita.
In spite of rainy weather we managed to have a very romantic stay far from "the Madding Crowd". Lo & behold the sun burst forth long enough for us to enjoy the hot tub and rooftop lounging area. The local casino entertained us for an afternoon.
If you're looking for an extremely private, relaxing getaway, go here. The hills surrounding the pueblo are very pretty, and the actual property is so comfortable. The owners respect your privacy, so you have the whole place to yourself. My wife and I didn't see another soul the entire time we were there. The best thing about our weekend here was how little we did. There are no distractions here, so we got to lounge around on the sun deck for hours, relax in the hot tub, watch some movies on the tv, and cook our meals on the grill. Pretty much a perfect weekend.
I seriously can not describe how quiet and relaxing this place is. If you're looking for a place to go where you can get away from day-to-day distractions for a few days, sunbathe, and enjoy lots of peace and quiet, this is the place for you!
You may bring your horses, hiking is available in the nearby preserve, there are 2 casinos within 10 miles and 4 total within 30 miles. The San Diego Safari Park is within 30 minutes. There is also a lavender field nearby, and Bates Nut Farm petting zoo. We are within 50 minutes of San Diego Bay, Mission Bay, San Diego Balboa Park museums and zoo.
