New Gloucester House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, beds for 7, plus air mattresses

Year round, quiet, sunny getaway for families. In the warm weather, the decks and dock provide great viewing of the lake and kids playing in the water (swimming, kayaking, fishing) during the day and beautiful sunsets in the evening. There is access to many local activities as well (hiking, biking, wildlife reserve, antiquing, golf, horseback riding). In the winter, the house is warm while the cool activities nearby are endless (cross-country, downhill, snowshoeing, skating, sledding, snowmobiling).

For more activities nearby, search out these local places: Outlet Beach, Maine Wildlife Park, Pineland Farms, Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Lost Valley, Shawnee Peak, Sunday River, Fox Ridge Golf, Spring Meadow Golf. But don't forget to venture to Freeport and Portland - where there are countless activities!

Can't wait to come back this year!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house both Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend last year. WE LOVE THIS LOCATION. And the house is perfect. It's super clean, has a great layout and the proximity of the house to lake is unbelievable. Many of the houses DO NOT sit right on the water where this one does. We spent every morning drinking our coffee on the dock and all day outside. Even when it rained Memorial Day Weekend we thoroughly enjoyed the inside of the house playing cards and enjoying the view. The owners are fantastic to work with and this location will not let you down. If you are looking for fancy... this is not your house. If you want super clean, roomy, comfortable with a spectacular dock and small quiet lake you want to be here!!! The house is also well stocked with flatware, appliances, cleaning supplies and we even used the washer and dryer which was handy. A+ stay!

Wonderful vacation home on a pristine lake!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully equipped, clean, and lovely vacation home perfect for families. The kitchen is incredibly well supplied with dishes and cookware, and the home has kayaks, a canoe, and many water toys & floats available for use. Very comfortable beds and living spaces, with many fans, blankets & pillows available. This attractive home is nicely decorated, has some recent updates, and enough space to spread out. The dining room is nice for using a laptop, or doing a puzzle, as well as eating with a view of the lake. Tall pines and other trees provide lovely filtered shade/sun areas around the home at different times of the day. There were lots of pine needles falling when we were there, but they were easy to brush away. The proximity of the house to the water/decks is awesome, and the lake had a nice shallow & sandy entry area, with water visibility to ~ 15' deep! We swam daily and totally enjoyed the water! Nice deep jump-off point from the large dock for 'big kids.' The small lake is big enough to have a great time & small enough to paddle safely without danger from 'big boat' traffic. We were there over the 4th July week and saw only a couple of 'party pontoon boats,' jet skis, and a couple ski boats on the main lake. The quiet cove location enjoys gorgeous sunsets too! Enjoyed reading in the Adirondack deck chairs, eating dinners on the pretty landscaped deck, using the fire pit & watching the Loon & woodpeckers. Even our rainy day was fun with the puzzles & games provided. Our two adult sons joined us, one flying into Boston & taking a Conestoga bus shuttle up to Portland for us to pick him up ~ 35 minutes away. Very convenient! Although the many steps would be difficult for very young or old, the quiet and secluded area was perfect for us! Trees between the nearby homes give a sense of privacy without isolation. Hannaford Grocery ~ 5 miles away offered to steam lobsters for us to pick up - great option! Loved this home, and the owner was very easy to contact and responsive to our inquiries. Even our little dog enjoyed cooling off in the water and sunning on the dock. We stayed on-site and soaked in the beauty of the lake and comfort of the home. Highly recommended for quiet R&R on site, or as a jump-off base for touring nearby coastal ME!

Just perfect

  • 5 of 5

We just reserved our time at the lake for our fourth (4!) year. We love the houses open layout, big lot, outdoor decking for relaxing, kayaking and canoeing in the quiet cove...the list could go on and on...oh - and it is convenient to Pineland for grocery shopping and other activities.

Enjoyed the house, lake, kayaks. Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Wish we could have stayed longer. Even though our week started with less than ideal weather - we thoroughly enjoyed the lake, house and all amenities. The beach was shallow and sandy. This lake is not big but just big enough and traffic on the was very minimal and mostly included pontoon "party" boats. The dock was perfect - our kids did a lot of swimming and caught some little fishes which we set free of course. We saw at least 1 pr of loons on the lake and when we went canoeing we saw some type of heron walking by the shore. The kayaks were perfect - 2 made for kids. The house was so wonderfully open. The kitchen is functional. We could easily of stayed an additional week. Looking forward to renting at least 1 week next year.

Our Summer Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at this treasure of a house. The house was very clean and well kept. The beds we comfortable and there was plenty of moving around room. The owner was very friendly, accessable and quick to respond to any messages. The location is very secluded and quiet. Everyone loved the lake access and the kayaks and fishing poles were great to have and were used a lot. The stairs from the parking area may be a drawback for some, and we felt a little worried about that when we arrived. However, we were so happy about everything else that the stairs didn't matter in the end. I'm looking forward to booking this house again next summer.

Family Fun Getaway ~ Pet-friendly

  • 5 of 5

This has been by far one of the best vacation rentals we have yet to experience for spending some quality family time. There were many acitivities to keep everyone occupied, from outdoor lake acitivities to indoor board games. This lovely lake house is well maintained as well as spacious with an awesome scenic lake view. The only issue we came across was the number of stairs to and from the house that was somewhat difficult for our elderly family members to manage, but the house location and lake view made it worthwhile that everyone wished we could have stayed longer.
