About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

The Skagit river in the front yard, this house is an ideal home base from which to explore the area or just stay put. You can take a day hiking trip in majestic mountains and come 'home' to sleep in a comfy bed instead of a tent! There are several dams to visit nearby and the historic town of Concrete is fun to explore and nearby. This is also the perfect place to just relax on the deck enjoying a lovely view of the Skagit River or roast marshmallows at the fire pit next to the river. The large sandy beach at the community park is within walking distance and a must see with beautiful vistas. Bring your camera and your fishing pole! Come in the winter to see the eagles or in the summer to explore the North Cascades!

About Robin Mallory

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest all of my life and love to kayak, hike and photograph nature.

Robin Mallory purchased this cottage in 1982

Why Robin Mallory chose Concrete

This is such a peaceful place and the river is beautiful. Easy access to the North Cascades National Park where beauty and hiking opportunities abound.

What makes this cottage unique

The nearby Community beach is easy to walk to. The road in the community are flat and great for a jog in the morning. I love to sip my coffee from the deck and watch the river.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The first thing that struck us when we entered this cute little cottage was how immaculately clean it was. While it is neither new nor fancy - that is of no consequence as it is so well appointed and so pristine. The beds were so comfortable, the cabin warm and inviting, and the kitchen full of everything one could possibly need to enjoy a weekend of eating in.

We happened on a weekend in which over a foot of snow fell while we were at the cabin! Our dogs and us walked to the community park less than a quarter of a mile down the road and we had a wonderful day full of soft snow and sun. Due to the weather we didn't do the hiking we had planned, but the cabin was so cozy, that after our foray to the park we curled on the couches and binge watched some shows.

The location - with the river gleaming in the sun through the slider doors, and glorious green all around was simply perfect.

This is a perfect retreat for any season, and we will certainly be back!

Winter cozy

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in February during a winter storm, and it was a great place to stay warm and dry and watch the snow over the river. The house is very clean and comfortable, with all the amenities for a relaxing stay. The kitchen is particularly well-equipped. The location is also wonderful; within 30 minutes we had access to good trailheads and wineries. If you want to stay in and relax or go out and hike, this house is a good choice.

peaceful cabin for a family get-away

  • 5 of 5

This is our third visit to Mallory Cottage with our two children and two dogs. It's in a very pretty location. The cabin is small, but the space is well-used - offering a very relaxing get-away in a great location.

Great little getaway for Northern Cascades!

  • 5 of 5

Nice cozy home with two bedrooms and a bath. Great deck out the back overlooking the river as well as front deck. Quiet and secluded despite close neighbors. This was a great spot to use for day trips in various directions in the Northern Cascades. Great little gluten free restaurant in Concrete......5B's Bakery! Swap meet and farmers market on Saturday in Concrete. Will definitely be back!

The cottage on the river served all our needs. It was our base for hiking and seeing Mt.Baker.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean, neat and as advertised. The beds were comfortable. The river view was great. Unfortunately due to fire restrictions we could not do any campfires. Would definitely stay there again when exploring the Mt.Baker area.

Nice accomodations near hiking and fishing!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our short stay in a well equipped "cottage" near the Skagit River and little city of

Concrete. Hiked to Slide Lake and caught lots of fish! The road (20 miles on a dirt road

requires a truck) and the one mile hike is rocky and rough but the lake is lovely, peaceful

and scenic. Also "planted" a letterbox called "Kick n' It In Concrete" on the Cascade Trail.

Check out AtlasQuest.com if you're looking for a fun activity with children or grandchildren.

Mt. Baker Ski Area

The North Cascades Highway is considered the most scenic highway in Washington State and makes a lovely day trip from the Mallory Cottage. Historic Concrete WA is just 6 miles away and a walking map of this charming town is provided. Mt. Baker and Baker Lake as well as Lake Shannon are nearby as well. Many hiking opportunities nearby and hiking books are provided. The North Cascades National Park visitor's center is 33 miles away. When you visit, be sure to take the short boardwalk trail for an outstanding view. In the winter, eagle watching is very popular up river. There is a wildlife viewing area where Elk are seen regularly on Highway 20..
