The house is recently remodeled, fully furnished and stocked with everything you need except food. We will do all we can to make your stay an enjoyable and memorable experience. Please use caution because you are in a wilderness area and use of the lakes is at your own risk. Life vests are provided for swimming. We recommend you bring sunscreen, insect repellent and your own fishing gear. No fishing license is required. Also, please use caution, there is heavy truck traffic on HWY 243 from the local quarries. Thank you for your interest.
We loved this home. The layout is fantastic for a large group. We had 8 adults & 12 children staying & we never felt crowded. The owners have thought of every need you may have. Including my son forgot his deodorant & they had a cabinet stocked with toiletries you may have forgotten. Every shower has shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Great feature, saves space when packing. We took advantage of the trails & the ponds. We hope to return sometime during the summer.
We had our mother-daughter reunion here for a few days right after Christmas. There were 9 of us, but the house is big enough for many more. The house is beautifully situated in the woods - the trails and lake shore provided endless amusement for the kids even though it was winter. The exterior spaces that we didn't use (fire pit, play set) seemed to be in excellent condition. The house itself is very thoughtfully provisioned and equipped. The TV/video setups have clear instructions that actually work! The bathrooms were spotless, with soap and shampoo dispensers in the showers. The kitchen is a rental dream come true. Huge sink and a stove large enough to roast a buffalo. All of the pots, pans and utensils that you need to cook real meals. Cabinets and drawers are thoughtfully labeled on the outside. The dining area table really does seat 20 and there are enough dishes and silverware to feed at least that many. There is a second dining table in the official dining room and that was a perfect spot to set up our jigsaw puzzles. With the fireplace room and the recreation room we could have easily brought all of the boy children along too and never known they were there. We never left the property during the 3 days we stayed, and so can't comment on the area amenities.
Our family celebrated Christmas at Dogwood. There was plenty of space for us in the house with each of us having favorite areas ( fireplace room and pool table were two common favorites.). We put away work and relaxed by walking the trails (plenty of wildlife) and taking a few naps. This was our first stay at Dogwood and have already been discussing when we could come again.
Comfortable beds, huge kitchen table, well equipped kitchen, clean nice bathrooms, and great outdoor experience!
We were able to have our second annual family gathering for Christmas. Family/friends from many states were able to easily find the place and there was plenty of room. No issues and the place was as described. While planning Vaughn was very responsive and the overall planning was easy. The house is well maintained and the place was even decorated for Christmas.
The only drawback was not being able to utilize the beautiful lake - since it was snowing! Gorgeous scenery and loved how private everything was.
We will definitely consider staying here in the future!
This property was fantastic. The owner was easy to work with and gave us early check-in and late check-out. The property was very easy to access from I-70 right off the interstate yet secluded so that it was very quiet and relaxing. The kitchen table that seats 14 was perfect for our Thanksgiving dinner with family. We enjoyed this property so much we have already requested to book it again next year.
The property is surrounded by the five hundred plus acre Dogwood Springs Forest Preserve which includes hiking trails. Also, adjacent to the Deer Creek Fish and Wildlife area.
