Dear Carlota, thanks for this!
We loved Java, and the whole set up, it really was flawless, and we all had such a great time!
Well done my dear, you have wonderful taste, and it shows, not only in the physical beauty of your houses, but the perfection of your entire staff, and the complete "presentation" to your guests -
You take care - and so many thanks again!!!
Our party of 8 recently returned from a wonderful stay at Casa Java. My husband and I and our two girls (ages 10 and 8) traveled from Cleveland, Ohio with our dear friends and their two like age daughters. We have visited Santa Teresa twice before but this is the first time we took the children along, after a quick internet search we decided that Casa Java would be perfect for our weeklong stay and I am so pleased to say we were right!
The property is lovely and the house stunning, the pictures truly do not do it justice. The main living space is open, unique, and entranced both children and adults alike. The children loved having their "own space" in the double bedroom. Iguanas, birds, and yes monkeys abound! The pool was a mainstay for everyone after returning from the various activities booked by the outstanding concierge who arranged surfing lessons for the kids, a private boat tour to tortugas, buggy rentals, dinner reservations, fishing tours, zip-lining, and child care. All were amazing, the childcare provider (Brittany) was a favorite of both the kids and parents. The surf instructors were fantastic and had the kids up on their boards in no time. All of our other excursions were wonderful and unlike anything we had experienced on our prior visits. When we returned to the house everything was back in its place which is incredibly difficult with 4 young girls! The carekeeping staff were truly lovely, specially arranging all the children's toys in their rooms in a different way each day that had them racing to the door to their room to see what surprise was in store. We truly appreciated all of the staff, who were gracious and unobtrusive.
I could not recommend this property more, it is truly a special place and I am so grateful for this is my children's first view of Santa Teresa, they enjoyed it so much we asked them to share a page in the beautiful guest book. We meant one page. They wrote four.
My husband and I and three friends just returned from a week stay at Casa Java. It was an incredibly memorable experience. The house is definitely special and even the best photos can never do it justice since there is so much character and history that you must be present to appreciate. The property is incredibly well taken care of - at any given time there are a handful of staff ensuring that everything is in order. Luxury is in the details, of which there are many - from little cabana nooks throughout the house, to the ranchos where you can practice yoga or the massage cabanas with views through the trees of the ocean and the sounds of the ocean to lull you into total relaxation. There are iguanas and beautiful birds roaming around and the short little path from the house to the beach is dripping in gorgeous light through the trees that transforms the way throughout the day and night.
I highly recommend having Chef Ana for meals - hers were our favorite on the trip, especially for lunch. She's very talented, packs her food with tons of flavor, and a pleasure to have around. Venecio, the bartender makes some of the best cocktails we've ever had - hands down the best pina colada you'll ever have. I also highly recommend hiring him on days when you plan to stay at the house and bounce back and forth between the pool and the ocean.
Lauren, the concierge is fantastic. She knows how to guide you towards the best possible experience for your group and constantly went above and beyond to ensure that we had the best stay possible.
Santa Teresa is remote in the best possible way and the mood around town and on the beach is pure pura vida - you can't help but relax and enjoy - it's contagious.
We felt like we were in the movie The Beach most of the time - it's just a magical place.
I could go on and on. Thank you Carlota for your hospitality!! We hope to return again someday soon.
Seven of my family members descended upon Casa Java. My son is a surfer and has lived in Santa Teresa. The rest of us have been there numerous times. This was our best experience by a long shot. We are beach people. Having the ability to walk fifty yards to one of the best beaches we feel in the world is a real plus. Great surfing, walking, fishing, horseback riding on the beach. The house was perfect for our needs. The downstairs living area was an open concept which was very comfortable and accommodating. We grilled in as many nights as we ate out. Lots of room and little nooks for privacy. The bedrooms and baths were excellent and all were happy. There is security from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The staff was friendly, polite and very efficient. Lots of privacy and the kids loved the pool after a day at the beach or at night. We would highly recommend Casa Java and I know we will be back.
Casa Java is everything all these reviews note and more - it was time for my husband & I to get away from the rat race and to arrive at Casa Java was an instant unwind - it is amazing. Though then we started to have some fun with (trying) to learn to Surf (Mick was fantastic), out Fishing to catch our dinner, horse rising, montezuma water fall, hiking, and of course the international cuisine in the many restuarants of Santa Teresa - incredible. We are on our way back home and miss it already. Thanks so much Carlota for your amazing place and thanks Lauren also for looking after us so well. Fingers crossed for our return.
My family and I were fortunate enough to stay at Casa Java for 12 days. It was a dream come true! The house is so unique with endless little nooks and palapas to curl up in and read or take a nap. It is also perfectly situated on the beach and has a lot of privacy. We saw amazing sunsets every night and the surfing was excellent. Much recommended! The staff is also very accommodating and I would encourage having them set you up on some of the local tours (especially snorkeling and horse-back riding) if you have some time. Overall, very classy place!
Casa Java in a single word: exquisite! Okay, some more words: remarkably appointed! no detail overlooked! This is a beautifully reconstructed Balinese house with gorgeous teak wood carefully reconstructed and with all modern amenities. And the beauty of the 'new' electricity and plumbing is how well all the wires and pipes, etc. are carefully hidden so the natural beauty of the old wood floors, walls and ceiling are preserved. Just walking up to the entrance of the house is an experience in and of itself. Tastefully situated off the main road of Santa Teresa, beautifully landscaped to have a completely natural look, Casa Java is simply fantastic in all aspects. Good-sized kitchen, great open 'living and dining room', intimate infinity pool, outdoor showers, beautifully maintained path to the beach.....don't know what more you could ask for.
A quick jaunt in either direction on the main road leads to great restaurants, small tiendas/grocery stores, sodas/typical CR restaurants, etc.
The owner is a most gracious woman and her staff is incredible, from her concierge (who took care of all our needs) to the great maids and security personnel.
We had our daughter's wedding there, renting both Casa Java and next-door Casa Capitan, and it could only be described as 'magical'. I can't more highly recommend a destination anywhere on the beach than Casa Java.
