We have set this home up for our retirement and thus it is equipped and furnished much nicer than a typical lake rental. We are very careful to select guests that appreciate the extras and take care of them. Our goal is that every guest who walks in the home is impressed and more than satisfied when they leave.
The fishing at Lake Murray is spectacular. Several guides are available for bass, stripper, crappie and perch fishing. They can pick you up at the dock if you like. Some will even clean your catch. Lake Murray is calmer than other lakes in the area, great for watersports. Wakeboarding is becoming a popular pastime in the area along with skiing and jet ski riding.
We are located 30 minutes from Lexington, 40 minutes from Columbia, and only one hour from the Augusta National. Charleston and the beautiful South Carolina coast is a short two hour drive.
We do have additional bunk house which you can rent for additional fee. The bunk house has wall mounted TV, small refrigerator, air conditioning and heat with set of bunk beds. This is only available to families renting the big house for an additional daily fee of $50 per day. Email for more info and pictures.

We were looking to have a great family weekend but we weren't prepared for what we had rented ir had to tolerate once we tried to get settled in. We didn't know it was the owners primary home. We thought it was like other properties we have stayed at. There we personal items in the bathrooms, food in the pantry and family photos. Animal smell was very bad in the house and animal hair all over the house. The children got hair on them every time they sat down in the floor to play. The owner left not one but three cats that kept running into the house every time a door was opened and we had to chase them down to carry them back outside. While trying to sit outside the cats would jump up on the tables or on the chairs we were trying to sit down in, they were a big nuisance. The dog from next door took a poop in the garage right in front of us standing there. For it to be no animals, what's wrong with this picture. The house was not set up for small children with a kit of breakables. Needless to say I would not rent this particular place again. My advice to the owner would be to take all your animals with you, have the house professionally cleaned and don't have your personal wedding picture starring at your personal bed with a renter laying in it. Gave me the creeps.
This was a great getaway for a few days. We waited to the last minute to look for something for Labor day weekend and the owners were very accommodating to make our wish come true. We enjoyed the comfortable feeling of this home. We had our 3 year old grand son who thoroughly enjoyed the swimming area and I enjoyed watching from the shaded swing while the rest of the family were out enjoying the lake. We cooked all our meals there and had plenty of room for our food. Our family loves movies and the smart t.v.'s made it perfect for everyone to get to watch the movies of their choice. We felt like we were in our on home in this spacious home. The outdoors were beautiful with all the flowers blooming. The owners were great to work with. I left my camera in the rush to get back home and he brought it to me! Very nice people. I would highly recommend this property.
This house was perfect for our family. We had age groups ranging from 2 to 82 years old and everyone had such a great time! This house was very clean and spacious. We loved the outdoor kitchen and we enjoyed sitting down there with the nice breeze. The kids absolutely loved the slide that went into the water. We also used the bunk house for the weekend to accommodate the rest of our family and friends. They were comfortable staying in that as well. We would definitely rent again!
The first thing you need to know is that the pictures DO NOT do this place justice. All my family and I talked about our first night was how much better it was in person! The house is spacious, it was immaculate and so comfortable. We were there for a week as a family for our two year old's birthday. He loved the lake, we loved the dock with the outdoor kitchen! I was able to go kayaking in the mornings before it got too hot and my father in law had a great time fishing off the dock.
There was plenty of seating at the water in the shade for relatives who didn't want to splash around and plenty of space for the toddler to run around and wear himself out. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for our large group and the bedrooms were comfortable and cozy.
The bathrooms were AWESOME. The master bath tub was big enough for me to stretch out and soak fully submerged in water. The best vacation reading is done in a tub like that. The other bathroom downstairs had a jet tub as well.
Really, we can't say enough about this house and we definitely want to come back!
We chose to stay in this beautiful home. I will leave this review to facts, positively noting it is a beautiful "home". Upon our arrival, we were faced with negatives.
#1. Not a wheel chair accessible home. 2 steep steps in the garage or 5 in the front entry.
#2. A personal home filled with family photos, wedding photos over bed and personal toiletries in bathrooms. We tried to overlook for already there. Their refrigerator closed with chains and cars in the garage just became topic of conversation.
#3- The house was infested with lady bugs. So when you turned on the shower, they took flight. When you turned on ceiling fan in master bed, (while homeowners pictures looked down on you) the fan projectile threw the ladybugs in direction of your face. (Roaches too upstairs)
#4 LAKE IS LOW! No dock- just mud
Again, I love VRBO and don't expect perfection and have never taken time to even write a review- good or bad.
With that being said, the problem came when was time to return my deposit. Knowing it was a personal home, I assumed that the owners were used to handling it professional as a rental. I received email from Kathy and pasted below.
**Silverware drawer had to be totally organized again.
**Quilts in closet were used for pallets and not returned.
**Furniture/chairs moved in living room and not replaced to original position.
**3 extra sheets (pallets) needed to be laundered.
**Several dishes and pots-pans were replaced in cabinets dirty.
**The oven rack was forced and warped into the oven. Paul had to fix.
She deducted $70 for the fact that my 10 year old did not properly unload the silverware tray and her dishwasher did not clean the dishes to her expectations?? I must apologize for I have grounded him and deducted his allowance. I recommend leaving a floor plan to show exactly how the silverware should go?
The living room is not set up for handicap and pathways are tight. I apologize again for perhaps we did not slide the chair back 3 inches. Perhaps another floor plan or tape on the floor for the exact position to where it should go?
Don't know what pallets referring to? Did we use blankets? Yes it was 25 deg. Don't even know what to say. Chain the blankets?
Rack forced? We cooked a turkey- Maybe he was trying to escape?
Followed rule book left just 2 towel dirty from party 10! I cleaned more here than my house. What was cleaning fee for?
RENTER BEWARE! Unprofessional
We enjoyed a very relaxing week on the river for our "spring break" in this beautiful home. The outdoor "living space" was put to use from sun up to sun down. Our four kids spent each day swimming, fishing, floating and exploring. We were there for 7 days and only left once to go see out nephew's baseball game. Our brother, sister-in-law and their four kids live just a few miles away from this home, and came to visit us each day that we were there. The home was perfect, plenty of room, even when our nieces and nephew stayed overnight. We felt welcome and "at home" throughout our stay. We appreciate Kathi and Paul opening up their home to us and we would love to come back and visit again someday!
Local boat vendors will assist in rental of fishing boats, or pontoon boats.
