Listing description and pictures were accurate. The road to the ranch is fully asphalt except for the gravel drive, so any vehicle can make the journey.
Nice setting with beautiful scenery. For that, you drive 14 miles out of town on a 40mph, poorly maintained road, making a round trip to town almost an hour. This also puts you outside cell phone range, so staying in potential emergency contact with home is not possible, unless you check social media or email constantly. Wifi is not secure, the passwords never worked, the suggested secure network could not be found. The TV had only very basic Dish programming, which means local channels only, plus a lot of other unnecessary stuff. No sports or movie channels. The kitchen has a ramp right behind where you stand at the sink, and both of us almost fell there several times. There was a grill, but the igniter was broken, and there were no grilling utensils. We had to make that drive into town for a lighter and utensils prior to being able to use the grill. The cabin itself was well appointed and comfortable, although the wood burning fireplace described was actually a wood burning stove insert in the fireplace, which I would not have described as "romantic". The management company were curt at best, bordering on rude, and required us to perform many functions (stripping beds, carrying out trash, etc) normally included in the fee for maid services.Their written communication needs improvement. First time we have been disappointed with a VRBO property. First time we have not given a 5 star rating.
We had a slight problem finding this unit, as the number we were given isn't on the building. Luckily, they put a card with our name on the door. The unit is nicely appointed and laid out. It truly is only large enough for two at the most...the other bedroom is on the opposite side of the large lodge suite, and you have to go through it to get to the small bedroom. We could not get the satellite service to work, hence no TV service at all. We notified the rental office right away, and were told they would get someone on it. When we checked out on the fourth day, the rental office said they were still working on getting it fixed. The location itself is well maintained, and the unit is as described, comfortable, and clean.
This place is perfect if you are looking for something a bit out of town with beautiful scenery! My husband and I stayed here for a birthday weekend getaway. We cooked most of our meals at the cabin and ate on the patio in front or around back under the larger patio (which house a nice seating area and is secluded from the other cabins). Yes, the layout is a little weird, but they explain it in full detail in the description. It's basically one large cabin split in two. The divider is in the kitchen. If you rent out the Lodge Suite, they will not rent out the other side during your stay, so you don't have to worry about anyone else being there. I read a review that was very negative, but I can not express enough how nice this place is for the money. It is dog friendly, which is why we choose to stay there, but it doesn't smell like dogs. It's perfectly clean and has everything you need for a nice romantic getway! There were little baby goats in the pasture next to us, adorable!!!
