My wife and I and our 4 children, ages 18 years old, 7 years old, 4 years old and 8 months old stayed at the Country Home for 3 nights. There was ample space for the youngest (all boys) to roam, romp, run and wrestle...plus room for the new crawler to get in his work-outs as well. The bike riding boys has safe outdoor space to do their thing also.
The house is well laid out...the bedrooms large...the matresses firm.
The kitchen was very well equipped and the view from the dining area and from the deck was peaceful and pretty.
We had a relaxed and rejuvenating time. Day trips to places of interest were easy to make. Our hosts were helpful, non intrusive, and easy to deal with. Highly recommended for anyone who values space...peace...and beauty.
We enjoyed our stay here while getting ready to move our daughter into her dorm at Ithaca College. This house was very comfortable & clean, in a beautiful quiet setting. It was an easy 25 minute ride into Ithaca. There is plenty of wildlife as we got to see deer on more than one occasion during our stay (and the turkeys!). We suggested to Betsy to trim the hedges around the back deck so the views could really be enjoyed. Otherwise, a great place!
We met with some friends to ride motorcycles in the Finger Lakes region. Awesome place to ride.
Was very impressed with the location, extremely peaceful and a spacious home as well as located close to everything we needed to keep busy.
Was glad to have half of the garage to be able to leave the bikes inside and out of the weather even though it was good weather for us almost all week.
We golfed in at the local course, Catatonk, great course. Just be ready because the back 9 is way more challenging than the front 9. Not busy at all during the week.
Was able to meet with Betsy and Alan to chat for a bit. Great people and so glad they decided to share their slice of heaven with us. This property in new (year or so old) on their rental list and very glad they shared the history with us.
We were not around much, since we were going all over on the bikes. Good location for riding, about a 25 minutes from Cayuga Lake and 45 minutes from Seneca Lake. Great riding around both lakes and getting to and from.
Easy trot to Ithica and Owego and lots to do and see there.
Great roads for the most part, a little busy in Watkins Glen at 4:30, should have timed that better. : (
You have to stop in at Punk's Place in Candor. That Soozie is a hoot. Love the girl, made us feel like one of the family. Great food too at a great price. Lots of laughs.
Could watch the deer off the back deck every night and turkeys in the fields too.
Talked with Betsy a bit about a few things that could make it a little more comfy, mattresses were a bit stiff but I am sure that works for some. Some suggestions on directions getting there (construction is inevitable) but suggested mentioning it in the directions while it is in effect. She was very receptive to our ideas and looking forward to hearing how things go for them in the future.
Was nice not to have to pay for a cleaning fee since we really didn't spend much time there and it only took a few minutes to run through the place and pick up before we left.
No internet but most people can get that off their cells or a hot spot off a laptop.
Already talking about staying again next year.
We had a very pleasant stay enjoying the quiet and the space. The house is very well equipped, exactly as detailed on the website. Betsy was very welcoming and helpful with local information and places to visit. Great Goat cheese farm/shop and vegetable stand not far from the house. So pleased we took Betsy's advice to visit the Corning Glass Museum - fabulous day out. Would recommend this property as a good base to explore the surrounding area of Ithaca and the Finger Lakes.
We had a wonderful stay at the ranch house. Everything was very clean and what we needed were provided for. Some notes were left in key places that informs us about what to do. Betsy was very warm and welcoming and recommended places for us to visit and eat. The place was a wonderful get-away home with a beautiful backyard. We had four people and everyone was comfortable spending our 4th of July weekend in this house.
The Country Home was very nice and spread out. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary here and brought our motorcycles along. Betsy and Alan were super nice to deal with and very helpful with questions we had about the area. This is a great place to bring a motorcycle...the riding around here is AWESOME!! The people in this area are extremely friendly, which really surprised us as that doesn't usually happen in New York city. We are looking forward to coming back here to visit again in the near future!! Really nice, peaceful getaway. We really enjoyed this house and the whole trip!! Thanks Betsy and Alan for a fantastic time!!!
