Memorable Diria Penthouse with Panoramic Ocean Views

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,700 sq. ft.
Property type townhome
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Townhome, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Bathroom sleeps 6)

What do you get when you give a 1500 S.F. split level Penthouse 80 ft above THE DIRIA HOTEL with its pools and stunning gardens that are front and center on the white sand beaches of Tamarindo to renowned architect Xyanna Bateau to design and decorate from scratch WITH NO BUDGET? You get an ethereal, hauntingly memorable masterpiece dubbed THE BEACH NEST by the creator.

As the author of this description, when I first saw THE BEACH NEST I mumbled “ I’ve never seen anything like it” (and I honestly hadn’t). The theme of the property is an airy Tropical Indonesian style with a Balinese motif and can put the observer and occupant in a dreamlike trance to start their special holiday. Does this magnificent getaway fit in with the Pura Vida which C.R. is famous for-I think so. The Architect/Designer has captured the essence of elegance throughout. However it is also practical and designed for water toy storage and with wet people in mind. You see Title block and all marble and wood floors with hand carved wood accents in abundance and then you feel amazement.

The living room has a wonderfully unique, long curling sectional where the sections convert into a comfortable bed . I then stepped up to an elevated Dining Room that I thought was really hip. There are two Master suites, one on each floor with King size beds, a full kitchen with everything a chef could desire and a nice laundry room are other amenities that make you feel at home. This Penthouse is unique and in a class by itself.

In this habitat fit for royalty the piece of resistance was a combined 40 Feet of spacious balconies on Two floors with panoramic views of the Sea and Coast from every spot. That is when I went “wow” for the 2nd time. The wide Tamarindo beaches are steps away.

I found antique columns everywhere and heavy grained cedar paneling. I felt the many original Costarican art works fit in well with everything else. You overlook a 10,000 sq ft pool and gardens directly below. THE BEACH NEST sleeps 6. All of the wonderful hotel amenities are available to you; restaurants, pools, room service, massages. Your wish is our command. We provide complimentary maid and laundry service. Nannies, chefs, private Tour Guides and much ,much more are available to our guests during your 5 star stay. We provide a level of service that will far exceed your expectations. Contact us and spend a memorable and affordable vacation with us and receive the TLC you deserve.

About Joel Hookerman

I am a businessman nearing retirement that loves surfing. When I'm not in Costa Rica I can't wait to get back. I've traveled all over the world to many of the so called garden spots but this is the first place I encountered where I wanted to own live in.

Joel Hookerman purchased this townhome in 2010

Why Joel Hookerman chose Guanacaste

I fell in love with The Diria Condominiums. When the R.E Agent showed me this multi level Penthouse it blew me away. I spared no expense in what I feel was a labour of love furnishing it. We have 50 feet of balcony on two floors with unobstructed views of the ocean and entire Guanacaste coast. We overlook Tamarindo beach and miles of wide white sand beaches with few rocks. I surf literally right in front of my property. I can use all the amenities of the Hotel including Room Service. It's gated, with 24/7 security and quiet as a tomb at night the way i like it. My Penthouse is 80 feet above sea level and the views lift my spirits every time.

What makes this townhome unique

A 10000 sq foot pool and additional 50 meters pool for laps directly in the heart of Tamarindo Beach, walking distance to everything. A revered Architect/Designer did this property and I love her work which I affectionately call the Beach Nest. You will cherish the ambiance and embrace the tranquility you feel sitting on our spacious balconies with a glass of our best wine and looking out at the Coast and the emerald blue sea.

Tamarindo is great. Quiet and quaint, is sleepy little condo and town are perfect for relaxing and getting away from The Hectic lifestyle of the US. 6 days wasn't enough. The View was killer from the balcony of this condo. The rest of the condo was beautiful, but I barely spend any time inside the condo. Too much to do at the pool and Beach. Perfect surfing waves. Go. Go. Go see this place.

TWO and a half days before we were to leave, Mr. Hookerman calls to say that he “made a mistake” (his words) and we couldn’t have the condo that we had booked almost a year prior. TWO AND A HALF DAYS!! Oh, he tried to talk us into another condo, which was sub-par to the one we had reserved. Was this a bait and switch, thinking that we’d go for the sub-par condo due to the panic and stress being suffered in the moment? Furthermore, he has the audacity to scream and yell and ME when I start freaking out! What kind of person is this Joel Hookerman? Certainly not anyone I would want to encounter ever again. Mr. Hookerman was kind enough to refund our money, but did you know that PayPal holds large amounts of funds for 3 days? Certainly no fault of PayPal, but highlights again how Mr. Hookerman tried to screw us over.

As previously stated, this trip was planned almost a year in advance. It was a gift to our grown children, to be our last family vacation. Flights, accomodations, car, excursions, etc were all booked and paid for. That is until the “phone call”. I’m a reasonable person, I know “mistakes” happen, but this was far more than a simple “mistake”. It’s not as though there’d been no communication throughout the year. We’d even made arrangements for Mr. Hookerman to pick us up at the airport! The only explanation he would give was he “made a mistake”. If this had happened even 2 months ago, I would have been upset, but not as angry. TWO DAYS before we were to be there?? Totally unacceptable.

I would not wish the stress that we suffered at the hands of Mr. Hookerman on anyone. Please, do not trust this man.

Owner's Response: The Guest is always right. I regret that I made an error and overbooked. It rarely ever happens but it did. The guest was inconsolable even after offering her money back and additional funds of several hundred dollars as well as as a place of equal or better value to stay. She cursed and used totally inappropriate language. Her behavior was an outrage. She was going to remain angry and that was that. I tried very hard to make amends but she wasn't having it. Please be kind enough to look at all the other 5 star unsolicited ratings I have and judge for yourself. I always try to please the guest although these people never stayed in any property that I mnage. To illustrate today I had a couple with 2 children and they didn't want to stay in the same bed. I move them to a 3 bedroom at my expense. JH

Exquisite condo in fabulous location!

This place rocks! We were greeted by Joel (the property owner/manager) who gave us many restaurant recommendations (all within walking distance of the condo). The views from both the main floor and upstairs balconies can't be beat! The absolute best sunset view in Tamarindo! The condo is centrally located in the town and you can walk everywhere - to the beach, grocery store, restaurants, and shops - within 15 minutes. The condo offers private bedrooms and bathrooms which is perfect for couples or families - we traveled with our kids that are 18 & 21 years old. The condo is even more beautifully decorated than is reflected in the photos. Note: the condo is located on the 3rd floor and there is not an elevator. Be prepared to climb some stairs. This isn't a big deal but worth noting.

Wonderful Location!!! BEAUTIFUL VIEW!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from a week in Tamarindo, Costa Rica at the beautiful Diria Condo. There were two couples, and was so nice for each of us to have a master suite! Perfect Location... We could walk Tamarindo Beach, around to Playa Longusta Beach, take the boat across ($1 each way) and walk on Playa Grande Beach (be sure to take water with you and LOTS of sunscreen).

The views were just beautiful from the balcony. The sunset photos I took with my cell phone on the beach were just beautiful, though pretty sunset from the balcony. The first morning that the "nature alarm clock" went off I sat up straight in the bed and screamed (and hit my husband awake). Sounded like an old furnace in a horror movie, but ran out to the balcony to see it was the howler monkeys playing in the trees and eating some type of berries off of it. There were around 5 that hung out there each morning (one with a baby that was fun to watch play). They did leave a gift of poop on our lower balcony... LOL!!!!

The condo did have everything we needed... Joel even got us an ice chest before we arrived and we used it every day (the Imperial Light is close to taste of Coors Lite and the Lemon Rock is close to Bud Light Lime). Also you can get Cokes, Fanta, bottles of water, milk, etc. at the grocery store (and bags of ice).

The worst thing was the 106 steps from the pool/town level, up to the top bedroom. I did thankfully prepare for the trip by going to the local hospital 3 weeks prior and started walking their stairs. Otherwise after the first day there I would not have been able to walk... LOL!!! HINT... DO IT!!!

We rented a car from Dollar Car Rental (they picked us up at the airport and shuttled us to their place to pick up the car). Got a 4-wheel drive SUV. As you will read, it is true that a lot of the roads are not paved, dirt, rocks, and we were so thankful for the SUV, but never had to use the 4-wheel drive. We drove to Borinquen and did their 2-in-1 Adventure for $60. 4-wheeler ride (or horses), overlook, waterfalls, and best 12 ziplines in the world!

From condo could walk to everything in town. Lots of places to eat. Even went in the casino for 30 minutes and our group won $675!!!! The beach is beautiful, but there is a riptide, so be careful! The Costa Rican people were so nice and we made some new friends who begged us to come back!!! You MUST go visit Costa Rica!!!

This condo is exactly as shown, beautiful views of the pool, ocean and the most amazing sunsets you will ever see. It is fully equipped and not missing a thing, a true 5 star experience. We were two couples and the condo was set up perfect for us. One bedroom on the main floor with ensuite bath and one bedroom upstairs with a bath. Large main living area and fully stocked kitchen leave you enjoying all the comforts of home, even Nexflix! Joel was there upon arrival and very helpful and friendly in getting us settled in. I broke my ankle just before arriving, and although there are a lot of stairs, manged ok, but defiantly want a do over. I guess I will just have to return next year.

A Perfect Paradise!!!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed, a family of 5, with an 18 y/o son and two 15 y/o daughters this week. We've done dozens of VRBO rentals and this is one of if not the best. El Diria, where the condo is located is by far the nicest property in Tamarindo. Centrally located to the beach and restaurants but this condo sits back in so it's incredibly quiet. You have amazing views like the pictures. We saw more animals like monkeys, iguanas, lizards, and a crocodile than we did on 3 adventure tours. Joel provided great restaurant recommendations (Patagonia, Nuguis, Pangus, the Breakfast Grind) that I highly encourage you to follow as he was right each time. And he is close by if there are any issues but we had none. It's a great time and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
