Mesmerizing view of birdwatcher's paradise, the newly remodeled home sits on a brackish lake with unobstructed view of marsh and Fripp Inlet. 262 Deer Run Lane is located in the private subdivision of Deer Lake which includes it's own private pool just for Deer Lake owners and their guests. There is no need to go to the 7 other pools on the island unless you wish to. The beautiful home is sparkling clean with hardwoods throughout the first floor. Private master suite is on the second floor leading to roof top deck. The roof top deck is wonderful for star gazing at night or sipping coffee and enjoying the view in the morning. Blue Heron Lake also contains several alligators so view them from the cheerful Carolina room. Save your fruit and vegetable scraps to feed the neighborhood deer which are plentiful and roam the entire island. Once you visit this home, you will be reserving your week every year as many of our guests do. Just hop in the golf cart and tour the island.
Long time Fripp owner. I love Fripp Island and all it has to offer. It is a true nature paradise and a jewel for the state of South Carolina. There is no other place like it in South Carolina. It is laid back, private with 24 hour security. Nature abounds on this beautiful piece of paradise. Once you go there, you are hooked on Fripp.
Donna Fleetwood purchased this house in 2002
The house is newly remodeled and clean with hardwood floors. The view is spectacular. The house sits on a lake teeming with birdlife and alligators. Deer roam across the lake and in our yard looking for fruit and vegetable scraps. Behind the lake is the marsh and then Fripp Inlet where you can see boats going in and out. And in the distance you see Hunting Island in the distance.
The roof is a deck. It is wonderful to sit and watch shooting stars on the deck at night, or take a cup of coffee up there in the morning and see what is going on in the neighborhood. Happy hour is finer on the deck.
We loved this home! It was the perfect size, and the updates are beautiful! The view from the Carolina room, and roof top deck were our favorite spots! The deer and alligators made an appearance everyday, and our girls loved that! The house was clean and well kept, and the location was a nice quiet area not too far from beach access. I will say that when we arrived the air conditioner had went out, and we had to wait a couple days for the repairs. It was very hot but Donna was so nice to give us a partial refund and provide us with a $100 gift card to the restaurant of our choice. She was a pleasure to work with and provided us with all the info we needed for our first time at Fripp. We enjoyed the pools, and the restaurants on the Island. Bonito's Boathouse was our favorite place for seafood on the Island. We can't wait to visit again!
Let me begin by saying that the Carolina Room in this house becomes the center of your break here on Fripp. The oversize windows allow you a ringside seat to Blue Heron Lake where the alligators (I called them Buddy and Buddy Jr.) while a hawk patrolled the lake, diving occasionally for fish. Just beyond is Fripp Inlet and Huntington Island. So there is a constant parade of nature. The owner even provides a telescope for long range spotting.
The owner provides excellent detailed instructions and appointments. From what we could tell, and we've rented four or five houses on Fripp, this is the cleanest and the most up-to-date. With the golf cart and bar-b-que providing local transportation and grilling opportunities.
By the way, if you grill Buddy or Buddy Jr. might decide to keep you company by patrolling the parimeter waters alongside the lawn. One day Buddy (about 12-14 feet long) decided to sun himself on the neighbors lawn.
My wife was taken with the deer. We had three or four. A pregnant female stopped by and introduced herself. She seemed to like apples.
Now to the house. The house is nicely built to provide equal shares of privacy and sharing. The ceilings soar on the first floor up to the loft like master bedroom. The two downstairs bedrooms are convenient and share a jack-and-jill bath. Both baths (upstairs and downstairs have updated, modern fixtures and lots of quartz counters.
The kitchen is well stocked with a pantry. Someone objected to this, I think, but we found it nice to have oils, coffee, some spices and assorted items. The kitchen is generally clean. The dishwasher is a tad hard to open for some. I thought it just stuck a bit. We went through a lot of dishes and it cleaned well. Nice french door fridge, but the design with a seal in the middle causes the right door to stay open some time. No big deal. Could use a few more glass or steel baking dishes. We bought a large one 13x9 and left it in the kitchen for future users.
What else? Great views again. Wonderful nature life. I guess the exterior of the house could use some work now that the interior is so well updated. The railings that take you from the master bedroom level up on top of the house do need to be stabilized or replaced. It's a big job, but will have to be done at some point.
We really enjoy our time on Fripp. Add Donna's house to our list of must visit again. Really a five star experience. Thanks, Donna, for providing such fun and an enjoyable time.
Of course the photos looked nice but we always go by the reviews and they were all good. The house is in need of some serious repair. It has an upper deck and the railings were very lose the house needs painting, the carpet is stained. The oven was really dirty so much burnt food on the bottom of the oven I didn't want to use it because I was afraid it would catch on fire. The dishwasher was left with dirty dishes. The entry stairs all moldy and the mat at the bottom of the stairs completely rotted and gross. Trash in the yard and garage area. We have rented many houses in the past and they always leave instructions about odds and ends you should know like garbage day usually a channel line up is left by the TV. They also left their personal food in the refrigerator and panty which was a turn off for me personally. And being that it was Christmas a little fake tree would be a nice touch which we have had in every house we rented over the holidays. Loved Fripp Island and would definitely go back just would not rent that house again.
The Williams Family
This was one of our favorite VRBO stays we've ever had! From booking to checkout, everything about this trip was Awesome. Donna was super friendly, helpful and easy to work with. The house was absolutely perfect for my family of 4, the views are hard to describe, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Golf cart, wildlife, beach walks, immaculate home. Everything you need for a perfect vacation. We fell in love with this home and Fripp the second we arrived and will certainly be back with Donna.
The house is in great condition and had everything we needed-- amenity passes, golf cart, fully stocked kitchen for cooking family meals, and comforts of a beach home. We loved riding our bikes around the island and had easy, close access to everywhere we wanted to go. A gem of a place. We will be back!
My family loves Fripp Island. We have been 6 times over the past few years. Great place for families to visit. Off season is nice because everything is so laid back. As far as the property, the price was great, and met expectations. Had a issues with plumbing and did not have WiFi all week, but that can happen anywhere. The house had been renovated, but could use some insulation, as it was a little noisy. Great views of the lake from the back room. Again, love Fripp Island. Recommend it to all.
Fripp Island is a private, secure barrier island on the coast of South Carolina. By land, Fripp Island is below Beaufort, South Carolina. Traveling to Fripp Island you cross over the bridge from Beaufort to Ladies Island and then to St. Helena Island, Harbor Island, Hunting Island and finally to Fripp Island. The scenery on this drive is rural and beautiful. You view Spartina marsh grass and wetlands intermittently throughout the drive. Watch for deer and racoon crossing the road at dusk.
Other Activities: bird watching, nature retreat, perfect for relaxation, very quiet home
