York is a popular beach community with history, charm and accessibility. First settled in 1624 and the first incorporated city in America, the area offers a myriad of fun things to do including relaxing on the beach, fishing, sightseeing and shopping. It is home to the John Hancock Wharf and Mark Twain's Summer home and is an area which still has architectural examples from the Gilded Age, particularly the Shingle style.
There is much to do including fishing, kayaking, boating, biking, golfing, & dining in York and the surrounding communities of Kittery, Cape Neddick, Ogunquit or Portsmouth, NH. The area is known for summer theater, concerts, and the many activities in York Beach including 10 pin bowling, miniature golf, and salt water taffy and homemade ice cream . There are local forts, lighthouses. and historic homes. Rain or shine, there is an endless array of things to do.
Please note that the house is very close to the beach and the parking is limited to 4 cars parked in tandem. Please inquire for more details or questions.
Our family has spent summers in York Harbor since 1948, spending endless days on one the most beautiful in Maine. We are lucky enough to live in York and hope you too will enjoy what York has to offer.
Kevin Breen purchased this house in 2014
We are excited to have purchased this historic property in 2014. We are busy updating the interior to provide the coastal feel it deserves. The highly sought after location of the house is at the top of the hill that runs down to the beach, allowing you to easily go back and forth without the bother of loading a car. It is also a 2 minute walk to the York Harbor Inn and Stage Neck Inn which host many weddings and have restaurants on site. A unique house in a unique location.
beautiful home! we have so many wonderful memories of our time here sharing meals and laughter, walking across the street to the beach, along the cliff and relaxing in all of the well decorated rooms. comfy beds and plenty of supplies to accommodate our families. we hope to be back! thank you
We had an excellent stay at the property, the perfect home for multiple guests. Beautifully appointed and one of the closest properties in York to the beach. A short walk to Stage Neck for dinner or the Cellar Pub for a drink. We had a power issue but the owner came over right after we texted him and fixed it immediately. Do bring extra toilet paper, garbage bags and paper towels if you have a large group. Rooms were clean and spacious. Can't beat the location!
My family and I just got home from our vacation and this house could not have been more perfect! Plenty of rooms for my family (7 adults, 4 kids) and the location was exactly where we wanted to be.
The hosts were very quick to respond to all of my questions before we arrived and while we were there.
We are already hoping to rent again next year!
Thank you for everything
A truly lovely, well-maintained and large home in a quiet part of York Harbor, right across the street from Harbor Beach and a short drive from Short and Long Sands. Kevin was a great host and communicator, couldn't have asked for anything more - highly recommended.
We shared with another family. More than enough room. 3 floors with 2 1/2 bathrooms. Kids rooms are on the top floor, no bathrooms. 2nd floor has 3 rooms with 2 bathrooms and the laundry room in the master. The first floor is the living/eating area. Nice beach decorartion. Tv did not have a dvd player but you know, we didn't watch much tv. Little thing about the kitchen, needs new cutting boards. There's a 1/2 bathroom on the first floor, in the kitchen, next to the dining room table. Not the best location. The best thing about this place.....it's vicinity to York Beach. Literally a 5 minute walk down the hill. The beach is in a cove and seems only locals come here. Parking is limited which makes it so quaint. We went to the beach everyday, all times of the day. Forget something? No problem, just walk back. Parking in the driveway can fit up to 4 cars. Because it's on a turn, I thought we'd have a hard time backing out onto the road. Never was an issue. We have AT&T for our cell service and did not have good coverage in the area. Considering what we saved by cooking at home and the vicinity to the beach, this house was well worth it. It's approximately 2 miles from a big grocery store and about 4 miles north of Kittery Outlets.
Ten of us stayed the for a long weekend before Memorial Day. Kevin (the owner) was very helpful and very available in getting us situated when we had problems getting in. Lots of room for ten people (more than enough) very close to the beach, and enjoyed fishing off the rocky point by the hotel. Great stay!
