River's Bend Cabin, in the heart of the White Mountains, is the perfect vacation destination for any season. Our newly renovated, cozy log cabin is situated on a secluded, 2+ acre wooded lot, with a spectacular view of the Ammonoosuc River, a private stair down to the water, and a firepit ready for your family's enjoyment. At the midway point between Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch, just outside the border of the White Mountain National Forest, the Cabin is minutes from the best skiing, boarding, hiking, biking, and outdoor activities the region has to offer. Access to swimming , fishing, river tubing, and gold panning is just outside the door, and the Twin Mountain Connector Snowmobile trail is at the end of the driveway. A short scenic drive in any direction will bring you to other favorite area activities from shopping or antiquing to a ride on the Cog or Conway Scenic Railway. We are an easy drive from Storyland & Santa's Village. A visit to the historic Mt. Washington Hotel for dinner or a drink is a must for history buffs and spa enthusiasts alike!
The open floor-plan, rustic, Cabin features all new furniture, a newly renovated 4 season porch with fabulous river views, and a 3 season porch for all of your gear. A basement family room was completed in Summer 2014. There is plenty of space to spread out and relax during your stay, whether you want to sit in front of the woodstove in the living room, enjoy the view from the porch, listen to the sound of the river by the fire pit, or read in the hammock. Each bedroom and the loft have been thoughtfully furnished and sleeps 10 comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped, the grill is always ready, so come and enjoy any season at our White Mountain getaway!
This is a great property. A group of eight of us returned for a second year and plan to make it an annual trip. The home is in great shape with loads of space for hanging out after a day on the slopes or whatever fun white mountain activity you plan. He kitchen is well appointed, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are super clean. We ate in both evenings we were there. For those that like to enjoy a nice meal out there ar a few good options at the Mount Washington Hotel that is only about a 10-15 minute drive. For skiers, Bretton Woods is about 10 minutes away and Cannon and Attitash are less than a half hour.
The owners are great to work with and so was Maggie. Thank you both.
The only negative is the additional fee for firewood. There is a fantastic wood burning stove and I would expect all fall, winter, and spring guests will want to enjoy it. I strongly recommend that the owners end the policy of charging an additional $5 per day for the use of firewood. Build it into the rental rate if it can't be absorbed. This point is not enough for me to go below five stars but it is a negative nonetheless.
Excellent rental home. I have recommended it to my friends and think that anyone coming to enjoy all that the white mountains of New Hampshire has to offer will thoroughly enjoy it.
This cabin was perfect for our group of 8 people. We had plenty of parking for our four vehicles and a snowmobile trailer. The house is very conveniently located to the snowmobile trail, it is just a few hundred feet from the local trail. The snowmobile trail is also very close to the gas station for the filling up the sleds, about a mile or so away. A few people in our group needed to rent snowmobiles, the location of this house was perfect as it was just a short drive up the road to Northern Extremes & Bretton Woods where they picked up their sleds.
We did lots of meal prep during our stay, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. The four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and spacious living room gave everyone in our group the space we needed. The house was very clean and cozy warm for us upon arrival.
We are already talking about staying in the cabin again next year.
Upon arrival, the heat was on and the house was very clean. We had 8 adults and 3 kids staying at the property and there was enough space for everyone. The kids loved the basement area and the adults enjoyed the heated porch so we could have normal conversations after the kids went to bed. The view is great and would be awesome in the summer time as well with access directly to the river. The location for skiing at Bretton Woods could not be better. The mountain is maybe 10 minutes away.
My only comments to change are:
1) Charging for the use of firewood is a little annoying. It felt a little like booking a flight where they give you a price and then there's a bunch of extras. At $5/day it isn't expensive, but everything should be built into the rental fee, just like the cleaning is.
2) Our vacation ended on a Monday, and I'd think most others end on a Sunday. You are required to take the trash out to the town dump which is a little drive away. The issue is that the dump is not open on Sunday or Monday, when I'd think most stays end. This requires you to take the trash with you. If you don't, there's an additional charge. There should be a garbage can in the shed, or nearby where we can put the garbage. Any charge should just be built into the rental fee.
Overall, the house was great, everything was clean and worked as it should. All of the necessities were there, we just had to bring food and drink. Great experience overall. Would stay here again.
Just a great overall package of the actual house, location and property. Rented if fot my wife's 40th for a group of 8 adults. More than enough room. The house is well supplied with the basics. The fire pit overlooking the river was awesome. Maggie answered all of my questions via email within a hour or two. The house was immaculate on our arrival and we tried to leave it mostly clean on our departure. Wifi worked great. We hiked some Crawford trails and hung out the rest of the time at the house...we will absolutely try to rent it again next time with the kids...you could easily "split" this with two families of four and have plenty of room for all.
This was a fantastic property to enjoy a week in New Hampshire's White Mountains . The property was clean, as advertised and offered ample space for 2 families. The location is great for children and adults as there is plenty of room to run around, play in the river or enjoy hiking trails. The place was well-stocked, had all the conveniences one would desire and was easy to locate. Would highly recommend for families or groups!
The house was beautiful and the view was amazing. We had 2 families of 4 and never felt crowded. The beds were comfortable and kitchen had all the necessities. The kids did some fishing on the river and even though there were plenty of tubes, we weren't able to use them in the water because it was very mucky at the bottom of the stairs. I would recommend bringing water shoes so you can enjoy the river. We saw a group of people go by in their tubes on a hot day and it looked like a lot of fun. It was a great vacation, glad we found this place!
