Villa Agapui in Naxos (MHTE 1174K10000943601)

Villa Agapui in Naxos is a holiday house of 140m2 on a slightly sloping hill, overlooking a beautiful bay in the Aegean Sea and the neighboring island of Paros, while surrounded by open fields. The sea view from all indoor and outdoor spaces is unobstructed and breathtaking.

A road goes up the hill from the beach and ends at the villa's gate; as a result, there are no cars passing by, no noises from the road or from the neighboring villas to disturb the magical experience.

The approach to the villa by car is through the villa's gate all the way to the main entrance level (located on the upper level), where the living spaces are accommodated; these include the sitting and dining room, open plan kitchen and WC. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped. The main living space opens up to a shaded outdoor sitting and dining area; it is enclosed by stone walls and provides stunning views of the sea.

On the lower level, there are three bedrooms – two of them in the main building and an additional one located in a separate guesthouse. Each bedroom has its own bathroom complete with a shower.

A 32 sq.m. swimming pool surrounded by a garden and outdoor seating area, is located a few steps away, just below the bedroom level.

On the last lower level, beneath the one of the pool, there is a vegetable garden and fruit trees at the disposal of the guests.

The villa, designed by the architect-owner for use as her holiday get away, has an air of openness and lightness, where one can relax far away from the stresses of urban life. It is built on a plot of 1800m² situated in the south western part of the island. The northeast and northwest winds, common in Cyclades, have a cooling effect, even on days with high temperatures.

Attendance to whatever problem or questions may come up having to do with the villa, dining recommendation, sport activities or other can be offered by a caretaker staying close to the house.

Amenities : Swimming pool, Satellite TV, Satellite Wi-Fi, special system for soft water throughout the house, high quality filtered drinking water, washing machine and dryer, central heating, cleaning and linen twice a week.

The nearest supermarket is a 5' drive from the villa, while one of the best places to eat is a 10' drive. The airport is 10km far from the villa (15' drive), and in 5' more you reach the port and the capital of the island.

The island of Naxos

Naxos is the biggest island of Cyclades with a long history and can offer a diversity of landscapes and experiences; green villages up the mountains, rocky dry hills near the sea, crystal clear turquoise water, numerous paths for walking and horse riding, byzantine little churches scattered everywhere, together with ancient ruins and ancient temples, museums, venetian castle-houses and a remarkable castle on top of the island's extensive historic town. One can take a cruise around the island or the nearby islands, including Paros, Mykonos and Santorini, all very easily accessible from Naxos.

While Naxos is the quintessential Cycladic island, with whitewashed houses, windmills, white sandy beaches and transparent turquoise waters, it also has its very own and very special charm and personality. Additionally it is one of the few islands that produce so much of its own local food. Meals offered in tavernas and little restaurants are cooked with fresh local ingredients (including Naxos meat, vegetables, all kinds of cheese, potatoes, tomatoes, olives and wine).

Going down the hill to the sea (350m road), you find the nicest beaches of the island. Even in August, when it's high season, you can reach nice little beaches and be almost alone. When the north wind is strong, you can visit Parthena's beach (5' drive), one of the two best beaches in the Cyclades where there is a sea sports complex for surfing and kite surfing, or Mikri Vigla's protected beach.

About Christina Gryboyianni

I am an architect living in Athens, where I own a design firm ( In 2003, on my way to another island to supervise the construction of a villa, I stopped in Naxos for two days and I immediately fell in love with the island. The villa I bought was shown to me on my first day there, and this was the second crush I had within the same day. The view was breathtaking! The landscape all around was calming and peaceful. I ended up buying the place, the best decision I have ever made. Fortunately, the villa was still under construction, so my husband and I built the light and colorful atmosphere we liked.

Christina Gryboyianni purchased this villa in 2003

Amazing Stay in Spectacular Villa Agapui on Naxos

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from an amazing stay at the Villa Agapui on Naxos, Greece. Christina and Antonis were so kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were greeted by Christina who met us at the ferry to make sure we would not be lost as we made our way to her stunning villa. The villa itself is beautiful. It is impeccably designed and was very spacious for our family of 5. Every linen, towel, appliance and fixture was hand picked by Christina and Antonis, so everything is in perfect condition as they take a lot of pride in their home. The grounds are breath-taking, with a panoramic view down to the sea and many lovely areas to sit and relax and look out on the vista below. The pool is beautiful and well maintained, as are the gardens which are lush and perfectly manicured. The beach is a short drive down the bluff -- or you can even walk from the house. There are many interesting towns and lovely restaurants which are all easy accessible from the property. As other reviewers have said in their comments, the pictures can not capture the true beauty of this property. What is also hard to capture in a paragraph or two is the incredible kindness of Christina and Antonis. They treated us to local fresh fruits, cheeses and drinks, and were always willing to help us plan our day with their wealth of knowledge on the island's hiking, dining, beach-going and exploring. On our last day after we packed all our suitcases and loaded our family into our car we drove to Naxos Town to catch the ferry. In our hurry we forgot one of our suitcases inside the villa. Antonis jumped in his car with our belongings and drove all the way to deliver our suitcase as we stood on line to board the ferry. This would never have been possible if we stayed in a hotel, and it could have seriously complicated our vacation. Again this is an example of the kindness and generosity of Christina and Antonis, and the effort they will go through to make sure your family's stay is perfect. Thank you for everything Christina and Antonis, and thank you Antonis for saving the day!

Have stayed in many vrbo rentals around the world and this was the best!! The place is beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

The ambience is serene and majestic. The hosts are friendly, kind and informative. They even privided us with wine, beer, soda, bread, cheese, fruit and every condiment you could possibly want!! They met us at the airport, ordered a taxi for us, literally took us to the grocery and guided us to a great restaurant! Christina mapped out restaurants, ruins, shopping and areas of interest. Antonis was available whenever we had questions but our privacy was always respected. This is truly a place built and run with love!

This house was perfect for a fun and relaxing vacation for our group of 5 adults and 3 kids. Very well furnished, beautiful views and super clean with all the amenities and comforts provided for. And if the house was perfect, the hosts are more than you can ask for with their amazing hospitality, cheerful persona and very helpful recommendations on restaurants and beaches. We had a great time and will come back to stay here again. Regards Aditi

High quality villa, fantastic view, great pool and caring owners.

  • 5 of 5

The villa is even better than the photographs and I agree with what others have said. Booking process was really easy and Christina was always quick to respond. We (family of 4 with teenagers) flew to Santorini from UK and then used the SeaJets service. We were very impressed to be met at the port by Antonis who we then followed to the villa which took about 30 minutes- A great start to the holiday avoiding stressful wrong turns. He also pointed out supermarkets and restaurants which was really helpful. The owners had provided lots of local products and the villa really was immaculate. Naxos is a great Island with loads to do and see. We particularly enjoyed the inland villages. Christina provided a list of recommended restaurants. We tended to eat out at lunch and cook in the evening in the brilliantly equipped kitchen, eating on the sheltered terrace. (There is a cooling wind in the summer.) We loved all the terraces and gardens and the mesmerising view. I particularly liked being able to pick vegetables from Antonis's garden. We visited most of the beaches preferring the quiet ones in the south. Some evenings we walked down the hill for a refreshing swim from the cove below the house. There were also a couple of beach bars in easy walking distance along Plaka beach below the house.

Everything in the house was high quality with lots of great design features. Wait 'till you see the view out of the shower window!

Thanks again to Christina and Antonis for such an enjoyable holiday and hope to return soon.

the most beautiful place i have ever stayed

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of this extraordinary villa can hardly do justice to its beauty, elegance, and extraordinary location. The owners, Christina and Antonis, are enormously generous and thoughtful and the place itself is crafted exquisitely. It is a very contemporary house with numerous decks looking out over the sea, equipped with everything one would want from a kitchen, a bedroom, showers and bathrooms. It is impeccably maintained and simply a great pleasure and honor to stay in this magnificent structures. One not only looks out over the beautiful sea, but it is really only minutes away walking or driving down the hill. And the pool is wonderful - gorgeous and beautifully maintained. Naxos itself is a stunning island full of farms and ruins and wonderful drives to cities literally paved with marble. This was the single most beautiful place I have ever stayed, and I have stayed many places. The beauty strikes you daily, hourly, and the owners are simply wonderful people. It was an honor to stay here. It easily can sleep 8-10 people, given the extra small house attached, and yet two people can stretch out here with pleasure. I only wish that every angle on the sea could be captured by photographs, and that the thoughtful and beautiful details of the house itself - really a villa - could be communicated in all their amazingness. Christina gives you a great list of tavernas to visit for dinner, and they are great. And yet, this is a beautiful and contemporary kitchen equipped with everything you could want. This is an extraordinary vacation home. Take it!

Superb setting & home for family vacation in Naxos

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Villa Agapui with our family of six (all adults). Christina and Adonis were so welcoming and helpful to us, giving hiking and other sight-seeing suggestions, helping with car rental arrangements since we wanted a minibus to accommodate the whole family, and showing us their favorite tavernas. The villa itself was sunny, clean, well-equipped and beautifully appointed. It was an easy walk down the hill to a cove to swim or if preferred, a long stretch of beach to walk. For us, it was a superb choice and made for a special vacation together! Marty & John (California)
