We rent our family home in the Summer as we own and operate a business in Oak Bluffs (another Island town) that we need to be present for during the Summer months. We leave our furnishings and artwork and in our case you are renting a HOME and not an income property. We hope you will enjoy our space and to become a part of your vacation memories.
Jeremiah McCarthy purchased this house in 2009
This house is clean, beautifully renovated and decorated, very spacious with a great location. Unlike your typical "cottage," it was spectacular to return from the beach and step into the outdoor shower and enter a nice air conditioned environment. All the entertainment amenities were available at our disposal.
Couldn't ask for a better location (walking distance to Mad Martha's). The owner was immediately excisable, kind and courteous. The neighbors were great and friendly too.
Much fun had on that back deck. Can't wait to return next year.
The house is much larger than the exterior photos suggest and fully justifies its billing as something suitable for up to 9 people. The kids loved the basement.
The house was immaculate.
There's a charming local beach just 15 minutes' walk away.
I would happily rent this property again.
Our group was very pleased with the accommodations. We had all of the conveniences of home making for a very pleasant stay.
The one note for improvement would be communicating sooner with the details of the rental.
That was a great experience, the house, was very clean, organized, the place is a paradise, I wish I could come back every year. Thank you McCarthy family for make me feel like I was in my own house.
We rented this home for a week in September for a family vacation with our 2 year old and our Boston Terrier. The house itself is nice, but there is no yard at all and absolutely no privacy... more like a cottage community than a neighborhood. This was still okay and we had a great week. While staying in the house, our 2 year old broke an old TV entertainment unit. The door came right off when she backed into it (all 20 lbs of her, not a big kid). We felt horrible and went into town and told the owner as we knew where he worked. When we told him about the door, he immediately knew which side it was and said his son had run into it several times so it had been "compromised" (his words). This was not a new or fancy piece of furniture. Two weeks after returning we got an email stating that he would be keeping our entire deposit to replace the item as well as 2 smaller things (a fridge can caddy that we never even used and a picture frame that we were unaware that broke). We agreed that we would take financial responsibility for broken items, but thought $500 seemed excessive. When given a breakdown of the costs, he was charging us the cost of the TV Stand “brand new”, plus the cost of taking his car on the ferry (and gas & time) to go get a new one. We debated that we did not agree with his assessment and we should be charged for a “like Item” not brand new considering that this was not a new item and he himself said it was already damaged. His responses were cold, uncaring, and infuriating. I wouldn’t trust this person if I were you. Go elsewhere to a more experienced landlord… the house is definitely not worth the extra $500. Pretty much spoiled our memories of an otherwise wonderful vacation. We rent on the islands or the Cape every year and have never had a bad experience. Just take warning before considering this property.
We had a fabulous time staying in this gorgeous cape. Everything in the house was high quality and in great shape. Anything we needed seemed to be there! And the family renting out the house is incredibly nice and easy to work with. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
