Great location, very dirty

  • 2 of 5

Spent Christmas week in the house. Location is fantastic right on the creek and close to town - No difficult mountain driving. We enjoyed Maggie Valley despite the unseasonably warm weather. However, we had to buy sheets that would actually stay on the bed (no mattress pads were on the king size beds), towels that were not cheap motel towels (small and poor quality), and spend some time cleaning. There were cobwebs including resident spiders, food drips on the cabinets, the floors desperately needed a good scrubbing, hair balls on the walls of the master shower, and the dishes needed rewashing (probably because they rely on residents to clean them). The trash had not even been taken to the curb, so when we needed the trash can, it was full of prior resident trash.

The icing on the cake was getting ready for Christmas dinner with an Ironing board meant to mount in the wall, but not mounted.

Bottom line, if you are only interested in the fishing and are not persnickety at all about the cleanliness or comfort of your accommodations, you will love it. Otherwise......
