One important aspect that makes this casita more unique is it gives you a blend of both centro and a more spacious, beautiful environment. You can easily get to centro but return to a peaceful home with gardens, hummingbirds and amazing views. In addition, i love San Miguel which was voted #1 tourist destination in the world by Conde Nast I want you to enjoy San Miguel too. I provide information on tours with locals that I personally know (eg horseback and atv riding, rock climbing, day tours to Guanajuato etc). When i am going kayaking, to the hot springs, the Mercado or a Mexican fiesta i will invite you to join me and/or provide transportation. You will have the opportunity to explore on your own but see more of San Miguel via the eyes of someone who lives here. Please, be aware this is Mexico and there are fireworks, barking dogs at night etc. If sensitive to noise you may want to bring ear protection etc. for sounder slumbers.
Hola! I am Canadian but lived in Seattle, WA for many years and now reside in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Previously worked at the Univ of Washington Harborview Medical Center as a nurse practitioner. I bought a casa in San Miguel in March 2009 and l completed the casita, third floor terraza and garden in late 2012. I love to be active in terms of hiking, kayaking and swimming. I am open and artistic as evidenced when you meet me or walk in my front door. Travel and photography are two of my greatest passions.
Saludos Joey

San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful Unesco World Heritage city. Voted #1 tourist destination in the world by Conde Nast, NYC. There are festivals and fiestas Home to environmentalists, bird watchers and artists
I love going to centro yet appreciate coming home to a more peaceful environment with a luscious garden filled with bouganvilla, cactus flowers, herbs and an amazing views of the mountains .
This is an absolutely charming little upstairs apartment with all the amenities you might need to make your stay here comfortable. Very clean inside and out with great views of the city.
My husband and I had a wonderful week stay here. Not too far from the main strip, you can take a short bus ride at the end of the block for 7 pesos. As soon as you get to the main block, you can walk into centro or take another short cab ride for about 40 pesos. Many honest taxi drivers everywhere. Joey, the owner lives downstairs and is extremely helpful with any questions you might have and will also give you tips as to what is happening around town, she even gave us a few rides into town. The garden is beautifully maintained, we saw many butterflies and a couple of hummingbirds. The house and entry to yard is very safe and secure with its own private entrance.
We totally enjoyed our stay here and look forward to our next visit. Casita is highly recommended! Great WiFi connection. We finally tried Cafe Muro (not too far from casita) on our last day which was recommended by Joey, I wish we had tried it sooner as it was a great restaurant with fabulous rooftop views. Thanks again, Joey!

My daughter and I stayed in the casita for three weeks and I can't think of a place that I've stayed that I've enjoyed more. The space is a exactly as you see in the pictures, but the pictures fail to capture how absolutely wonderful each of the outdoor spaces is or how cozy and comfortable the indoor space is.
We walked into Centro at least once a day, sometimes twice, and enjoyed many of the spots along the way, including several nice gift shops, great bakeries, the galleries and coffee shop of Fabrica Aurora, and one of our favorite breakfast/lunch spots--Muro Cafe. When the weather was hot in the middle of the day, you could always count on returning home to a fantastic cool breeze on the upper terrace along with an expansive view, which ended up being my favorite place in town for a glass of wine.
Joey was an indispensable help with suggestions and information about where to go, what to do, and how to get there. And she has so thoughtfully equipped the casita that we never wanted for anything during our stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a wonderful stay in Joey's beautiful casita. Everything was clean, well-maintained and exactly as described in the listing. Joey was so welcoming and easy to communicate with both before and during our stay. She was also very helpful in offering recommendations for things to do and tips for navigating San Miguel.
We loved lounging on the 3rd floor terrace, which has great views of the town, mountains and sunset. We also enjoyed cooking meals in the small kitchen and dining al fresco on the patio. I also loved the shower - hot with great water pressure and a pretty window.
Though the casita is outside of the main downtown area, getting around was easy. Cabs are easy to come by and shockingly inexpensive. And there is a bus, though we never ended up taking it. It took us 20-30 minutes to walk into town, which we did just about every day - sometimes twice. And the neighborhood felt very safe - I never felt nervous even when walking alone. Overall, we were grateful for a relaxing place to come back to after long days exploring and would definitely recommend!
Warm, cosy, private and very comfortable. We prefer to stay away from the center of town. We walked into town, but it's also easy to use taxis. Once we learned public transportation, we felt like locals. Wonderfully decorated separate apartment with all amenities. Great movie collection, music, lovely garden with a view, a bottle of wine and the most comfortable bed I've slept on in Mexico. Joey was a great host , giving advice and even checking in regularly to offer us rides into town. Bring earplugs if you have trouble sleeping with barking dogs, but this is Mexico. I prefer them to bars and street noise. Highly recommended for a couple who wants to imagine living in San Miguel.
Loved our stay in Joey's casita. The place was clean and organized. We had everything we needed to make it feel like home. The shower was powerful and hot; amazing for mexico. The listing description was very accurate so we knew what to expect. The views from the top deck were awesome!
Even though this property was not in the centre of town, there was no problem getting around. We did walk a fair bit, and the buses were cheap and always entertaining!
Joey was a great host. Her knowledge of San Miguel de Allende and surrounding areas proved very helpful, and we sometimes hitched a ride into town with her. Would definitely recommend her and her charming oasis.
We really enjoyed our stay. Joey our host was extremely helpful in letting us know about events and things to do and the Casita was very attractive and well equipped. We especially appreciated the availability of a washer and dryer. The garden was delightful and fascinating with the various species of birds. Sitting on the rooftop patio and watching the sunset was a daily ritual.
