This was a great cabin to home-base in for our Cloudcroft vacation! It was just like it appears in the photo, and was clean, spacious and a beautifully appointed. We loved the view and the deck, and the location. We didn't have kids with us, but thought the upstairs bedroom and loft area would have been perfect for them. Would definitely choose this cabin again.
Easy to reach, door already opened when we checked in. The front panel of windows produce a greenhouse effect, there are no window coverings and so the house remained hot during the day despite having 2 windows open and the ceiling fan running. The other 2 windows in the living room couldn't not be opened and therefore we could not take advantage of the cross ventilation.
Basic supplies including coffee and cleaning materials was provided. But you will need to bring your own bath soap, shampoo etc. Beds were comfortable.
The cabin was clean and comfortable. Great views, nice deck. Driveway is steep with rudimentary steps to get to the proper landing. Overall good experience.
I reserved this cabin for my honeymoon with my new hubby. It was a beautiful rental! The view from the living area was outstanding. You could see all the trees and the sun hits it just right in the morning. It's extremely quiet and peaceful with a great look at the stars from the porch at night, and the fireplace makes it perfectly cozy. It's a convenient location with a short drive to cloudcroft and a safe place to go for a leisurely stroll. It has a fully equipped kitchen, so it's really easy to prepare meals in if you so desire.
The cabin is easy to find, though parking is steep. There are several steps to get to the front door, but it isn't terrible. The cabin is beautiful! I appreciate that it was SOOO clean! It's beautifully decorated & the deck is perfect for a morning breakfast, or evening cookout. The Windows and view are breathtaking. We have a 1 year old so I appreciate that there was a baby gate in the storage closet. Also, the washer and dryer added to my peace of mind in case the little one got his clothes dirty. Upon entering we immediately Facetimed with our family to show them the lovely cabin- it was that pretty!! The bathrooms were spacious and clean. There were NEW rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, as well as new dish soap and hand soap! Those little touches make a difference! The bedrooms were just the right size. Next time we visit we plan on going with a few more folks as we (family of 3) didn't make use of the entire cabin.
The pictures and description of the property are very accurate. This lovely home is very cozy and situated on the mountain in such a way that you get an INCREDIBLE view. However, with this incredible view, comes the bright and shiny early morning sun, which can be avoided in one of the bedrooms if you like to sleep in. The house sleeps eight, but there are only two bedrooms, so that should be kept in mind when making sleeping arrangements. My husband and I rented the house with our seven year old daughter and she loved the upstairs. She had her own bedroom, bathroom and living area upstairs complete with video games (the master and en suite as well as another half bath are downstairs). She loved that she could watch Disney on her TV while we watched football downstairs. While others complain about the lack of Wifi, I loved that I was forced to unplug from everything. Sitting on the deck listening to and watching the birds during the day and stargazing at night (the stars are AMAZING there) was incredibly peaceful, especially without the constant dinging of the phone when emails, etc. come through. The neat thing about the house being situated where it is, you can sit and enjoy the quiet, almost as if you are in the middle of nowhere, but be super close to all the shopping on Burro St. or golf at The Lodge. The Family Dollar and Allsups are the closest thing you'll get to a grocery store, so it's a good idea to stock up before getting to Cloudcroft if you're planning on cooking. Although the drive to the house isn't bad, the driveway is incredibly steep. If there is much snow, you would need a 4x4 to get up the driveway. Also, for anyone with disabilities or breathing issues, there is pretty good climb up the stairs to get from the car to the house. You definitely get your workout in for the day!
House is very nice and clean as well as maintained. Bath soap and bathmats would have been a plus. Facial tissue would have been nice. From the deck we could only see trees and house tops. We hiked and ate at all the local restaurants. Would not recommend to friends as the property was not open enough to see any wildlife. There was not a hummingbird feeder so we could enjoy the hummingbirds.
