About Jane Vigeant

I have been on this lake for 50 years. Started coming with my parents when I was 8 years old and they built a cottage here for our family. When I married, we purchased our own place across the lake from them and have brought up our six kids here in the summer. We had to make additions to accommodate them all now. They are all still coming back for summers and our grandchildren are now enjoying the lake.

Jane Vigeant purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Jane Vigeant chose Western Maine

This is the cottage we rented the year we bought our place on the lake. We want to introduce our lake to others who will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this cottage unique

You have own dock on the lake to moor your boat or just sit and relax. There is also a floating dock to swim to and sunbath. The cottage is located 300 feet from the Denmark Public Beach, with docks and sand beach. It is also close to the public boat launch if you have your own boat you wish to bring. Spend your time just relaxing at the lake, or make some trips visiting North Conway, 25 minutes away for outlet shopping and the Mount Washington Attractions, go hiking, antiquing, golfing, in Bridgeton 10 minutes away, go canoeing on the Saco River with River Run Canoe in Fryburg, 10 minutes away, visit Storyland or Loon Mountain. And don't forget to go to the drive-in movies in Bridgton for a real old fashioned treat.

Cute, cozy cabin under the trees on the water

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Jane and Lenny's cabin! It was clean and comfortable. The decorations are cute, tasteful, and wonderfully practical (thank you for so many hooks!) and the cabin "fits" the site perfectly! The spacious bathroom had plenty of hot water, the beautifully varnished pine floors felt good under our bare feet, and the wifi was reliable. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck with a view over Moose Pond, canoeing in search of ducks and loons, swimming at the public beach just a couple houses down, and going for walks down the road. The morning fog and dawn breaking over the pond provided some amazing photo opportunities, too. The neighborhood is quiet at night and in the morning, and full of happy activity during the day as folks swim, swing on the rope swing into the water, jet ski, and motor past on their pontoon and fishing boats or motorbikes. Bridgton, Fryeburg, and North Conway are all within about a 30 minute drive for grocery shopping, dining out, shopping, and hiking. It was the perfect spot for our long weekend stay. Thank you for sharing it with us!

The perfext lake experience

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a few days with my brother, his wife and 2 kids 10 and 12 years old. We all head a super good time out here. We especially loved how quiet it was. No traffic on the road and also almost no motor oats on the lake. We had a blast paddling on the canoes and doing the ropswing which is just on the other side of the lake from the property (50feet). The house is super nice and very well equipped an has avery nice outside seating area. If I am in the area agan I will definately go bacl to this place

We had the best time!

  • 5 of 5

When I first got to the Cottage and went inside, I felt relaxed immediately. The view of Moose Pond, the serene setting, and watching the many hummingbirds, we and our friends had a great 4 days.

The cottage was spotless, comfortable, had everything we needed and more. The new deck was perfect for morning coffee. Combine the fire pit and the beautiful sunset over the water with a glass of your favorite beverage and you will find that you will hate to leave and cannot wait to come back!

The owners were great and more than accommodating. I highly recommend spending time here, you will be very happy that you did.

Clean house and good view

  • 2 of 5

Maine is a wonderful place to visit, and the cottage was clean with a delightful view of Moose Pond. However, we had some disappointments there. Here goes--The one parking space took some adjustment because of little space and a tree. The picture of the cottage and access was not accurate because it did not show how steep the path from the car was or the exposed tree roots and tree plants making it dangerous, especially when carrying luggage and supplies. The path on the opposite side of the house was not much better. We hesitated to return to the cottage after dark for fear of falling as there was also no lighting. The TV was also a challenge. No air-conditioning too. Our suggestions are: Clear the paths of roots and loose stones, etc. Provide some sort of railings and lights. Provide a TV that is not difficult to turn on. Also have at least an air-conditioner that can be used when the weather reaches very hot temperatures, which can happen even in Maine.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake and your visit to Maine! Part of this property's charm is the fact that it is in a wooded area and there are roots and stones that make for a very natural landscape. We do have a pole light at the front stairs and outside lighting on the deck, and at the back door and also solar lights around the area. I am sorry to hear you did not find those switches, I would have been happy to come over and show you if you had mentioned it during your stay. I did realize after your departure that a few of the outside solar lights that help with lighting the grounds were not working during your stay. I apologize for this oversight and have fixed them. Again, I would have come right over to help you find the outdoor lights had you mentioned it during your stay. The photos online do show the front access of the cottage which has steps built into the landscape. I have posted the picture I sent you with the access instructions of the hilly side of the house where the driveway is located. I was happy that I was there when you arrived a little early to welcome you and help you carry in your bags in. I am happy to offer this kind of personal assistance to elderly visitors as my parents are in their eighties as well and live just a few doors down. I understand it can be difficult to manage rough terrain. There is room for at least 3 cars to park in the designated area in the driveway. I had hoped that my suggestion that you park in the front of the cottage on the side of the road near the steps would make it more convenient for you to access the stairs. I take a lot of pride in offering excellent care during my guests stays, and since I live right across the lake I am able to respond quickly. I did come over at 9pm on your second evening to help you with the TV after you called and I thought we had resolved the issue and we established the fact that you needed to point the remote at the cable box. It is stated in the listing that I do not provide a/c. Our nights in Maine are usually very cool and during the warm days we enjoy the lake. I provide fans for the cottage to circulate the air and draw in cool air at night. . I spend my summers on the lake with my family (6 children & spouses & grandchildren & many guests) and we have no air conditioners, so I do not feel that is a necessary amenity.

paradise found

  • 5 of 5

this place was peace on earth...we could be as pioneering or as laid back as we chose. The cabin was roomy and exceptionally clean it had a place for everything and everything was in it place.

The pond was wet and full of fish, the rope swing an unexpected treat and the canoe a great way to navigate the inlets and outlets. The kids loved it so much we are booking a week this year for next. The owner, Jane, is a warm helpful informative and beautiful woman who is simply awesome we truly loved our time on moose pond.

Hope

I grew up on a lake in northern Louisiana listening to the frogs and crickets at night and the morning doves at dawn.

This getaway on Moose Pond is as close as I have come to my peaceful memories. We had everything we needed, and if we wanted something else - we just ran into town to "Jim Bob's" to pick it up. Our stay was comfortable, peaceful and fun. Like my wife, Hope, said we are going back next year for a week. Maybe I can figure out how to get those trout to bite.

Adorable cabin -- perfect for families

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great stay at Moose Pond! My husband, 1.5 year old son, and I loved the lake, the deck, and the comforts of the cabin. It was really nice to be so close to the town beach for a more gradual entry for the little guy, too. The cabin was spotless, really well-equipped, and very cozy and private. We loved our side trips to Bridgeton, Naples, and North Conway. We even got to see the full "Strawberry Moon" over the pond on the summer solstice! Highly recommended.
