My family built this camp as our summer retreat from Long Island where I grew up. Since I live in beautiful NH now, even though I am closer, it seems we just don't use it as much as we should. That is why we are renting it. My hope is that people will enjoy it as much as we do, as a peaceful, fun, unplugged break from our busy lives.
Lori McGinley purchased this cabin in 1970
This is my family's camp and I grew up spending summers here. So many friends have enjoyed it that they thought it would be appreciated by others if we rented it. Ideal for families.
This is the opposite of going to Hampton Beach. Private lakefront, a bit of woods between our camp and the neighbors, the sound of loons, families on their docks, and screen doors. Plenty of options for day trips when people get antsy, then come back, have a fire, make s'mores. All good.
Lori's family cabin is classic in so many ways: beautiful setting on the lake, wonderful fireplace, screened-in porch across the whole rear of the house, high ceiling and loft bedrooms; I want a place just like it some day. I didn't find anything inaccurate in her description, didn't find anything that didn't work, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would gladly recommend it to anyone.
Perfect spot for a perfect family vacation! The cabin is everything it is describe to be and more. Well appointed. Clean, cozy, inviting. So much to do and so little time. A week is not enough. Our host Lori, could not be more accommodating or more available. We have been renting in Maine for the past four summers and this by far has been our best experience! The lake is beautiful! We swam, fished, kayaked, canoed, paddle boarded, and just floated by the swIm dock. Beautiful area of Maine! Secluded, but close enought to all the conveniences. The Porch! Our favorite place! Thank youn Lori!
The memories we've created at the camp are priceless. Beautiful lake, cozy cabin and the best hostess! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful place with us. We love, love, love it! Already planning for next year's trip:)
The description was very accurate. We were thrilled with the location, the pond was perfect! The camp had everything we needed and the screened porch was a wonderful place to sleep!
Hoping to get on the list for next year!
This was a perfect camp for us. It had everything we wanted. Beautiful setting and a great hostess! Perfect spot for young children. Lots for the big kids too. Fishing, kayaking, swimming.
The overall vacation was wonderful. The camp is quiet, comfortable, and provides some beautiful views of the landscape. We were able to catch bass from the canoe and the dock. The warm weather made from some lazy days floating around the pond. The cabin is cozy and made for some great family dinners, and the porch was a wonderful place to sleep. Thank you again for a great week.
A small, fairly quiet area. Lakefront living, and lounging with all the necessary amenities. Located about halfway between the North Conway shopping/Mt Washington area and Portland seacoast/city life area. Great base for day trips to Storyland, Cog Railway, Portland concerts, canoe/kayak the Saco river etc. There are only 8 cottages on our side of the lake so fairly private and quiet.
|Refundable damage deposit||$250|
Pricing in US Dollars
Security Deposit will be returned 7 days after departure if there is no damage or fees deducted.
Security Deposit fees:
$10.00 Excess Trash:: We supply two, 30 gallon, trash receptacles. Due to our rural location, the population of raccoons, and lack of access to any dump/transfer station, any excess trash would have to be transported by cleaning crew which adds to hourly cost.
$10.00 Excess Recycling/Returnables: Maine has a 5 cent deposit law. Please consider buying your beverages in Maine and then returning the bottles for the deposit. We have recycle pick-up but it is only 2X a month. If the recycles exceed our containers then the cleaning crew must sort and return them which adds an hourly cost.
$25.00 Litter, there is just no place for this at the lake. It's such a beautiful spot that any cans, cigarette butts etc are just painful to see, and require time to clean-up and properly dispose of.
Our guests have been awesome and we operate on a little bit of a pay-it-forward policy. If one of the floats pops while you are using it, simply replace it with a comparable one. If you use up the last of the garlic powder, re-stock it...we try to keep it so that people have the basics available. It's nice to have coffee, half-n-half and sugar already there especially if you are arriving at night! Who wants to have to buy every condiment just for a week? IF SOMETHING more consequential is lost or broken.....such as a lost paddleboard paddle or light fixture, those WE NEED TO KNOW about that and we'll figure out a solution that won't negatively impact the following renter. Changeover is tight AND on a Sunday so we need to KNOW AHEAD of time.
Litter (esp in the lake), outdoor smoking evidence, lost/popped floats, trash in recycles, pet waste...$25/incident
Neighbor complaints of excessive noise/safety/out of control fires, lost paddles, any severe damage.....$250/full dep. loss
