Old Tannery House is located in the sleepy community of East Bay View, one block from the Historic Bay View Association where you can attend musical events all summer long. Only one block to the now famous Little Traverse Wheelway, a paved bike/walk path stretching around the entire length of Little Traverse Bay and soon north to Mackinaw City. We have 2 bedrooms each with its own full bath. The galley kitchen is stocked with everything a good cook would need. Set your table at the original Stickley Dining Table or on the back patio filled with comfortable outside furniture. The lower level offers a Game Room with a Brunswick Pool Table. The extra large yard is surrounded by cedars, pines and hardwoods creating your own private park like setting. Enjoy a late night bonfire under the stars. Come make the peace and tranquility of Old Tannery House your home base while exploring the abounding beauty of Emmet County, The Sunset Side of Northern Michigan.
Old Tannery House is offered for a one year lease beginning in September, furnished or unfurnished. Please call me to discuss the details. Talk to you soon, Your hostess ~ Robin
First off, I will say this home and property are very nice. Robin has done a ton of upgrades throughout, from the bedrooms & bathrooms to the kitchen & basement. All very tastefully done, adding to the coziness and modernness of the home. There are even many supplies and kitchen stock available. Our big disappointment was the house not having air conditioning. During our recent visit, the daytime temps were in the 90s and sleeping at night was very uncomfortable. Some of the windows could not be opened and there were no ceiling fans, adding to our discomfort. I double checked the listing and there is no indication AC is not provided so we naturally assumed AC was available. Once we booked and paid in full, Robin provided a document with arrival information. In this document, it clearly states the house "does not have a/c". Had the VRBO listing given a clear indication the house did not have AC, we probably would have continued our search for another rental property and not made the reservation. Full disclosure is a must. We felt a little duped by this. If Robin would complete the upgrades by installing air conditioning, we would not hesitate in considering a stay at Old Tannery House again.
House was very clean and comfortable. Decor was nice and the atmosphere here very calm. Just what we needed. We enjoyed the proximity to the bike path and Petoskey State Park beach. We found lots of Petoskey stones! The access to Internet was great! The only issue we had was the bikes provided needed a little TLC.
Very nice place to stay in Petoskey.
We spent a week at Old Tannery House and enjoyed every minute. The house is cozy, comfortable, well maintained, very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. The deck and backyard are lovely, so quiet and peaceful. The house is conveniently located right on the bike wheelway. We were able to walk to the Petoskey State Park (successful hunting for Petoskey stones) and even walked to downtown (it's a bit of hike). For those with tech concerns, the WiFi worked well and I was able to do some necessary work. After the outdoor activities all day, it was a treat to return to Old Tannery House for a quiet restful evening. We were lucky to meet the owner upon arrival and she was kind enough to recommend activities and dining venues (she was 100% right on her suggestions). We have been using VRBO for a number of years now and Old Tannery House is absolutely one of the best rentals we've had.
The home was very clean and well organized without any clutter. We like to cook and the kitchen met all our needs. We loved being close to Little Traverse Bay, the Wheelway for biking and jogging, and the beach was a short walk. We also enjoyed how centrally located the house was to shopping, Historic Bayview and downtown Petoskey. We would stay here again.
