Enjoyable Stay in Isle of Palms

  • 5 of 5

I brought my wife, two children and my parents to the property on Isle of Palms for the kids' spring break. Our vacation was very relaxing and the time spent here could not have been better. There are several characteristics that make the property stand out - location, the pool area and the rooftop deck. Having two children 11 and 9, a private pool was a key point to our decision to stay here. The pool itself is well maintained, with a circle of palm trees surrounding the area to provide privacy. The kids were in the pool every day. The rooftop deck was where we spent our evenings enjoying the sound of the waves crashing and looking up at the stars at night. It was very peaceful and quiet up there. Finally, the location cannot be beat - two blocks to the beach on the Atlantic Ocean, two blocks to the inlet with gorgeous sunsets. We really liked Sullivan's Island as well, and residing on this end of Isle of Palms made for only a 5 minute drive to the heart of the Sullivan's Island entertainment area. All in all we enjoyed our trip so much we have decided to return next year.

Great beach house!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent location close to a great beach, spacious, perfect pool and lovely closed-in porch. We enjoyed the rooftop deck and the barbeque. Only complaint is the second bathroom whose clawfoot tub should be left as-is rather than made into a makeshift shower that doesn't quite work. But that's a small thing overall and didn't diminish our love of the place.

The owner is wonderful to work with. John Beall is always available, responsive and accommodating.

The house itself is nice. However, it is clearly old, very dated in its furnishings and dirty. There is house pet hair on all furniture and in corners of all rooms.

The biggest disappointment is the bathrooms. One has an old style tub with a makeshift shower that hangs and a wrap-around curtain. This set up is barely functional for a grown man to use. The second has a toilet that is tilted and a very small stall shower and curtain. The house desperately needs an upgrade to both bathrooms, which would make the living experience so much better.

Outside, the grounds are not upkept with weeds and old ruffage vidisable at every corner. The pool is a nice benefit, but it is clearly not maintained as it was very dirty.

The front room patio is a nice feature, as is the rooftop patio.

The house wifi is very strong. The air conditioning works well, although the back room does not have vents.

Regards,

Dale

Great house! Clean, well kept, and as described.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the cottage. We were a group of 8 that included a family of 4. Two of the bedrooms are attached so the couple and their two kids took those rooms. The other bedrooms are a queen, and then bunk beds, so the other couples got those. The whole house was very clean, including all the linens and blankets. It seemed nicer than your typical shore house. We grilled out one night and cooked in the kitchen on other nights, and we had everything we needed. 10/10 would stay again.

Large spacious comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

The house was exactly as described and spacious.

As we were there during the Christmas break, John had even taken the trouble to have a decorated Christmas tree put up.

Basketball, Volleyball, Massage, Spa, Fitness Center

1. Beaches - first and foremost, Isle of Palms is home to some of America’s Cleanest Beaches. Just minutes by foot from our house. Collect shells, play beach bocci, sunbathe, play in the water and relax as much as you can.

2. Golf - Wild Dunes is home to two of South Carolina’s top golf courses. The 4th hole of the Fazio-designed Links Golf Course passes right near our home and is the more highly rated course. But many homeowners here prefer the Harbor Course, a 5 minute walk from our home, as it seems to be a lot more challenging

3. Tennis - Your Sports card will allow access to the beautiful Wild Dunes clay tennis court facilities, rated number one in many tennis magazines. And the pros put on exhibitions every Monday night with drinks and snacks provided with door prizes. Fun for all the family.

4. Pools - Enjoy pools by the beach front at the Pavilion while eating and enjoying some southern libations. Or perhaps relax with your family at the new pool at Palm Cove also with outdoor bar and dining. And for those wishing to exercise, please visit the recreation center pool for lap swimming.

5. Eating - Between dining in Wild Dunes, or outside the gates on Isle of Palms or making the 20 minute drive to downtown Charleston, you won’t be disappointed by your dining experience. Our food is a big reason why Charleston is frequently voted best vacation destination in the US!

6. Nature adventure/Water fun - rent boats down at the Wild Dunes marina or take a guided tour of the waters to take in all the wild life. Regardless, you’ll have a blast. Or perhaps sign up for parasailing to get a different view of our wonderful island.

7. History - Whether your visiting museums or beautiful old homes in downtown Charleston, plantations like Boone Hall/Middleton Place/ Magnolia or Forts Moultrie/Sumter, you won’t be disappointed. You’ll walk away with significant appreciation of history! And don’t miss the Yorktown Aircraft Carrier on Patriot’s Point.
